A young woman died and another was injured in a fall from an dorm building on a busy Center City street Thursday evening.

The deadly incident unfolded outside the H&M store on the 1600 block of Chestnut St.

Shoppers and pedestrians watched in horror as an 18-year-old Temple University student, identified by sources as Rebecca Kim, slipped and fell off the window ledge of an apartment building and landed on top of another woman, 44, who happened to be walking below at the time.

"This is surreal to me," said a witness. "I can't even believe it."

Kim fell eight stories and was rushed to Jefferson University Hospital in critical condition. She died from her injuries a short time later, police said.

She was visiting friends who attend the Art Institute of Philadelphia when she fell.

Temple University released this statement following Kim's death:

"Temple University is deeply saddened to learn of the death of one of our students in Center City Philadelphia. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends."

Counseling for university students is available at Tuttleman Couseling Services.

"It definitely gives you a reality check and make you want to call your friends and family because you just watched someone die," another witness said.

The injured pedestrian was taken to Hahnemann Hospital. She has a broken vertebrae and missing teeth.

An investigation into the incident is underway.

8 Teens to be Charged in School Sexting Scandal

Eight students will soon face charges in a sexting scandal that has rocked a Bucks County high school, officials confirmed to NBC10 Thursday night.

The pending charges against the Neshaminy High School students were confirmed following the completion of a nearly 3-month long investigation into sexting claims by Middletown Township Police.

The sexual texts were first reported to school officials by students who saw the inappropriate photos on classmates' phones in the school, said district spokesman Chris Stanley in a statement released on Oct. 31, 2014.

The sexting scandal involved a large number of students across the student body, according to the district.

The district didn’t reveal any details about the shared messages outside of saying they were sexual in nature. It wasn’t clear where the photos originated, according to Stanley.

School officials alerted parents of the sexts and said individual students would be disciplined on a case-by-case basis.

Following the initial sexting reports, Principal Dr. Rob McGee posted a message to the school’s website asking parents to check their children’s phones for the Yik Yak app and giving instruction on how to see what their children posted.

Police are not releasing the names of the students who will face charges.

The reward for a missing Pennsylvania teacher nears $10,000 as friends, family and law enforcement continue their search for the missing 40-year-old.

A GoFundMe page was set up just a few days ago to raise money for a reward for information leading to the whereabouts of Christopher Tully who went missing after jumping out of his parents car on along the City Ave. Bridge near East Falls on Jan. 6.

He was last seen running south on City Avenue towards the Schuylkill Expressway. He was wearing a black coat and jeans, according to his family.

Tully, an award-winning teacher at the Middle Bucks Institute of Technology and father of three, suffered from depression and was on his way to treatment when he ran away, said his loved ones.

"Even though he's 40, he's still my baby and I want him to come home," said his mother Mary Tully.

In four days, the fundraiser page set up by the missing man's brother, Eddie Tully, has accumulated nearly $10,000.

"I would like to thank everyone for the huge outpouring of support. So many of you are willing to help, and it means so much to us." said Eddie Tully.

The family is asking that anyone that spots Chris call police rather than approach him.
