Missing Boyfriend Found Dead: Cops

A 24-year-old New Jersey man whose girlfriend reported him missing and their apartment burglarized has been found dead in the Bronx after an apparent kidnapping, authorities say.

The body of Jordan Johnson was found in the trunk of his 2013 BMW Thursday afternoon, nearly two days after his girlfriend, Megan Faulkner, reported him missing when he didn't meet her in Harlem despite telling her to go to the Manhattan neighborhood in a text.

Johnson's sister, Jacqueline Taylor, said something was off about the messages Faulkner got late Tuesday from Johnson's phone.

She said Faulkner didn't feel like they were coming from his boyfriend, despite being sent from his cell, but Faulkner left the couple's Fort Lee apartment to meet him in Harlem anyway.

When Johnson didn't show or respond to her texts and calls, Faulkner told police he was missing. Then she returned to their apartment across the river and found it burglarized, authorities said.

A large amount of cash and jewelry were also missing, police said.

The car was found on East 211 Street in Norwood. Police have not said how Johnson died.

A car crashed into a Pennsylvania YMCA and almost wound up in the pool — shocking swimmers doing laps Friday.

An elderly woman mistook the brake for the accelerator when she slammed her red sedan partially into the pool area of Ridley Area YMCA on South Avenue in Secane around noon, said Ridley Township Police.

The woman wasn’t seriously hurt, police said.

There were swimmers using the pool at the time, said the YMCA. None of the swimmers were hurt but they sure did get a surprise by the gaping hole left in the wall.

“The Y is open, but the pool will be closed for the foreseeable future,” Michael Ranck, president and CEO of the Ridley Area YMCA, told the Delaware County Times.

An airplane hangar under construction in New Jersey collapsed Friday morning, seriously injuring a 35-year-old man who was working on the project, authorities say.

The Toms River man was working on the hangar at Morristown Municipal Airport when the structure, which at that point only had steel erector beams in place, collapsed around 11:15 a.m., police said.

He fell from an unknown height, seriously injuring his leg. He was taken to a hospital in stable condition.

A second worker toiling on the construction project was treated for bruising on his arm. The worker, a 37-year-old from Egg Harbor, was taken to the hospital for evaluation but is expected to be fine.

It's not clear why the hangar collapsed.

Representatives from the Occupational Health and Safety Administration are assisting in the investigation.

'Heartless Predator' Kills Woman at SEPTA Stop

"This was a very well planned execution."

Days after a mother and newlywed was gunned down as she waited for a SEPTA bus, Philadelphia Police Capt. James Clark showed surveillance video in hopes of capturing Kim Jones' killer, who remained calm while pulling the trigger.

"Investigation reveals that Ms. Jones was standing at the bus stop waiting to go to work when an unknown offender walked up behind her and killed her," said Clark.

Round-the-clock police work turned up multiple video angles of Jones and her assailant in the moments before and after the attacker shot Jones in the back of the head, said Clark.

"The perpetrator was outside of the decedent's house for about an hour prior to the murder, in one of the breezeways — you can see the person's head keeping popping out, looking, waiting for her to come out," he said.

The first video shows Jones walking to the SEPTA bus northbound on 12th Street toward Jefferson Street Tuesday shortly after 9:15 a.m., said police.

A short time later, you see the suspect — dressed in all black and holding a duffel bag — walk toward Jones as she waited for the bus while listening to gospel music.

Police didn't show video of the actual shooting, but they did show the shooter calmly fleeing after putting the gun back in the duffel bag.

Medics pronounced the 56-year-old woman dead at the scene, about two blocks from Temple University's campus. Despite having jewelry, her cellphone and her purse on her, Jones wasn't robbed, said police.

Jones left behind two grown children. Family said she had married just two weeks ago.

"She was a good person — she's college-educated, the mother of two sons and a hard worker," said nephew Steve Jones.

Video captured the suspect, still covered head to toe in black, boarding SEPTA’s Broad Street Line Subway at the Cecil B Moore stop shortly after the shooting, said police. The suspect can be seen going five stops north, getting off at Hunting Park and walking out the Bristol Street exit.

"(The suspect) was dressed so that you could not make out if it was a male, a female or the ethnicity or anything about the individual," said Clark. " ... (The suspect) made a point of not looking up at the video cameras — almost knew where the cameras were going to be — going down the subway and on the subway and made a point to never look up."

Family members said Jones often walked about one block to the corner where she died to grab the Route 23 bus to Center City, where she had worked for Turning Points for Children for the past decade.

"We are devastated by the news of Kim’s death," said Turning Points Chief Executive Officer Mike Vogel.

Clark described the "heartless predator" as standing about 5-feet, 10 inches to 6 feet, 1-inch tall with a stocky build. The suspect wore dark clothing, including an aviator hat with flaps on the side and fur lining, and white-colored Beats headphones.

"Out hope is that someone if they saw this individual Tuesday morning will contact us and tell us who he is," said Clark.

Police believed someone who knew Jones' routine targeted her. Anyone with information is asked to contact Philadelphia Police. A $20,000 reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest.

Jones will be laid to rest Tuesday with a viewing followed by funeral at the Church of the Advocate at 18th and Diamond streets starting at 8 a.m.

An eastern Pennsylvania middle school math teacher found himself out of a job after being arrested — along with his brother — for heroin.

Investigators arrested Dusten Cook, 32, and his brother Bryan after serving a search warrant on a home along Benner Road in Limerick Township, Pennsylvania earlier this month.

Inside the home, police found 407 bags of heroin, packaging materials and an undisclosed amount of cash, said Limerick Township Police.

Dusten Cook serves as a math teacher at Reading Intermediate High School on N 12th Street. On Friday, the district alerted parents about Cook’s arrest saying he was immediately suspected without pay.

“There is no evidence to indicate that he was involved in drug sales at a school,” said police in a Facebook post.

Both Cook brothers posted 10 percent of $5,000 bail last Friday after spending nearly one week in jail. The Cooks are due back in court next month to face drug dealing charges.

NJ Man Found Lying in Road After Hit-&-Run: Police

Police in New Jersey are searching for a hit-and-run driver who struck and left a 32-year-old man lying unconscious on the street in Bergenfield Thursday evening, authorities say.

Officers responded to a 911 call on Woodbine Street just before 8 p.m. and found a man lying in the northbound lane, according to Bergenfield police.

The victim, Brian Gilligan of Bergenfield, was taken to Hackensack University Medical Center where he's being treated for serious injuries.

Gilligan, who owns a commercial moving company called Ireland Movers, told NBC 4 New York from his hospital bed Friday that he was standing in the road to try to help his employee move a truck out from a nearby business when he was hit.

"I waved a flashlight and he didn't stop," Gilligan said of what he could remember. "I jumped to get out of the way and he hit me. I supposedly flipped around in the air and hit the ground, and I was unconscious for awhile."

Investigators say the vehicle continued north on Woodbine and fled.

Gilligan has several broken bones and is unable to move the left side of the body. His job requires him to be physically mobile to run the business, and he'll be sidelined for at least the near future due to several surgeries he has coming up.

"It's like my business is gone because of this," he said. "All he had to do was stop. I'm a forgiving person, but can't just do that."

"I can't wait until they catch him," he said of the driver. 'They will catch him."

Anyone with information is asked to contact Bergenfield Police at 201-387-40000 or the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office tips line.
