A Villanova University student was arrested after police found thousands of dollars in cash as well as LSD inside his dorm room, according to investigators.

Investigators say they recovered 37 tablets of LSD, marijuana and $9,000 in cash in a white shoe box inside 18-year-old Justin Yim’s dorm. Yim, a freshman at Villanova, was arrested and charged with distribution and the intent to deliver.

The investigation began Friday night when police responded to a report of an out of control student who assaulted a woman and public safety officers on campus, according to officials. The student, who investigators say is Yim’s roommate and was on LSD, was arrested and then taken to the hospital for treatment.

“Shortly thereafter there was a total of three incidents, including that one, where officers responded along with public safety and found people to be in some type of drug-induced state,” said Radnor Township Police Lieutenant Christopher Flanagan. “Also alcohol was mixed on board with some of the other people. All of those people were transported to the hospital.”

Yim’s roommate, along with another man and a teen girl spent about eight hours in the hospital and were later released. All three are doing okay, police said.

A Villanova spokesperson released a statement on the arrest:

Villanova University takes these matters extremely seriously and is fully cooperating with Radnor Police in its investigation of the incidents. In addition, the University has instituted an internal review and is moving forward quickly and thoroughly. Those found responsible will be held accountable. Villanova holds all of its students to a high standard and has a deep and continuing commitment to achieving an educational community free of substance abuse.

NJ Fuel Spill Investigation

The Coast Guard says a fuel pipe may have burst when a barge collapsed near New York Harbor in Jersey City, resulting in a fuel spill there Monday morning.

"We woke up this morning and there was just tons of oil, it was disgusting," said boat owner Rich Collins.

Pockets of fuel were still visible Monday in the water around the marina at Morris Canal, a small inlet in Jersey City that shoots off the Hudson River and New York Harbor. The dock connected to the barge had completely broken off, and some of it wound up across the canal and ran into boats at Liberty Landing Marina.

The barge owner, who didn't want to speak on camera, said the collapse was linked to the frigid temperature and ice in the water. But he said there was no indication that the broken barge leaked any fuel at all.

He told NBC 4 New York off camera that he thinks the culprit could be somebody dumping old diesel in the marina, too cheap to pay to dispose of it properly.

The Coast Guard is investigating the spill as Kens Marine Services cleans up the diesel fuel.

Collins said he alerted the Coast Guard hours before fuel began leaking into the water Sunday night.

"I'm just annoyed this was allowed to happen, we've made a lot of progress with the Hudson River over the last decade with pollution, and now this basically was allowed to happen, it's really disgraceful."

Should there be mandates on vaccination?

The topic of public health mandates was part of the Franklin Institute’s Monday Night speaker series "Vaccines: to Mandate Or Not?"

The event featuring immunology expert Dr. Paul Offit, chief of the Division of Infectious Diseases and the director of the Vaccine Education Center at CHOP, focused on the controversial topic of vaccination.

“Vaccines have saved millions of lives around the world, but how do we consider their benefits in the context of our personal, community, and global values?” asked the Franklin Institute in its promotion for the event. “Do mandates cross the line, or are they necessary for public health?”

The pope is using his visit to Mexico to address the pervasive violence in the country.

Of the 20,000 people who will occupy seats in the first of four designated zones during Wednesday's papal Mass in Ciudad Juárez, the majority will be the families of victims of violence, mothers of missing girls, those who are impoverished, and members of Mexico's indigenous community. The open-air mass will be held at a fairgrounds with a capacity of 220,000 people.

Priest Alejandro Martinez Gallegos, the coordinator of ticketing for the event, said that the bishop of Juárez and others within the church there developed a criterion to determine the best distribution of tickets.

"Our first criteria was to serve people that were more vulnerable, extremely impoverished, and people that were suffering the most," Gallegos said, referring to the rash of violence that has occurred in Juárez in years past.

Ex-Criminals Get Chance for Clean Slate

People who served their time in Pennsylvania and have spent years crime free can now petition to get a clean slate.

Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf signed a bill Tuesday morning that allows individuals who have served their punishment for nonviolent third- and second-degree misdemeanors and avoided arrest or prosecution for seven to 10 years to petition the court to get their record expunged.

"This legislation proposes that the commonwealth join a growing number of states that have expanded their expungement laws to reduce the period during which a minor criminal record can punish people," said a news release from the Wolf Administration. "This legislation would benefit not just former offenders, but Pennsylvania as a whole, by countering high rates of recidivism, relieving an overburdened pardon system, and providing an opportunity for ex-offenders to join our workforce."
