Skydiving Plane Lands on Main Drag to Jersey Shore Town

A skydiving school plane landed on the main road to a Jersey Shore town Sunday morning to the surprise of people going about their day on the shore. The incident left one instructor hurt.

The small aircraft from Skydive East Coast skydiving school in nearby West Creek landed safely in the median along Barnegat Road (New Jersey Route 72) near Main Street (U.S. Route 9) in Stafford Township, New Jersey shortly before 10:15 a.m., said Stafford Township Police. The road is the main route to and from Long Beach Island.

The single-engine, four-seater, white-and-blue aircraft was carrying five people including students from Skydive East Coast when it lost power forcing the pilot to make an emergency landing, said police. A skydiving instructor suffered a minor cut on his arm. Shawn Maloney of Beach Haven, New Jersey witnessed the landing.

"He hit the ground and bounced a couple times, " he said. "Nice and easy and then hit the median in the grass and he went back and forth a little bit and just missed cars by a few feet maybe. And power lines too."

John Demming was driving along Route 72 with his daughter when they suddenly saw a ton of traffic.

"We initially thought it was heavy shore traffic but it was odd because it's such a nice day," said Demming. "We then saw fire trucks and police as we drove and then saw the airplane in the grass median and couldn't believe it. Definitely not something you see every day."

Officers closed the left lanes of traffic in both directions as they investigated the incident. After about 90 minutes, Stafford police tweeted a photo showing the fixed-wing Cessna -- with no visible damage -- pulled off the roadway and into a nearby parking lot.

The Federal Aviation Administration will investigate the incident.

As you may have heard, former Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb was recently in trouble with the law ... again.

The six-time Pro Bowler was arrested on June 28 for driving under the influence in Gilbert, Arizona after he rear-ended a car in front of him at a red light. Police determined that McNabb was "impaired by alcohol" and he was taken to a holding facility where he was cited and later released.

Which brings us to the latest development. According to Richard Deitsch of Sports Illustrated, McNabb has been suspended indefinitely from his job at FOX Sports.

“It is important that Donovan use this time as best he can to resolve his personal situation," FOX Sports said in a statement to SI.com.

McNabb was also arrested for DUI in December 2013, when he was pulled over outside of Phoenix for speeding. The 38-year-old pleaded guilty and served one day in jail in April 2014.

Agreement Reached in Greek Bailout Plan: European leaders reached a deal with near-bankrupt Greece early Monday on a third debt bailout that will keep it in the euro currency zone. "Today we had only one objective, to reach an agreement, after 17 hours of negotiations we have finally reached it," European Union President Donald Tusk told reporters after exhausting all-night talks. However, the deal — which includes the privatization of some state assets — needs to be ratified by a reluctant legislature in Athens as well as parliaments in other eurozone countries. Tough conditions imposed by international lenders, led by Germany, could bring down Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras' leftist government and cause an outcry in Greece. Tsipras was under intense pressure as Greek banks were on the brink of collapse and the country faced the prospect of having to print a parallel currency and quit the European monetary union.
