Attempted Murder Charges in Minaj Crew Stabbings

Police arrested one of the men they say was involved in the stabbing of two members of Nicki Minaj's crew that left the rap superstar's tour manager dead.

Philadelphia Police Homicide Detectives arrested Pierce Boykin late Monday night on attempted murder  and assault charges.

Police said the 31-year-old was involved in an argument at Che Bar & Grill along Stenton Avenue in Philadelphia’s West Oak Lane neighborhood early Wednesday morning that left Eric Parker injured and De’Von Pickett dead.

An argument over a woman ultimately led to the stabbings, said sources close to the investigation.

Pickett and Parker, 27, were with a few friends outside the bar around 2:35 a.m. making sure that one of the bartenders, a woman that Parker was dating, made it to her car safely when a group of men approached the woman, according to sources.

Parker apparently asked the woman if she was OK and that’s when the fight broke out, sources said.

Pickett and Parker were stabbed several times. Pickett suffered stab wounds in the torso while Parker suffered stab wounds to his left arm and left side.

A private car rushed both men to Albert Einstein Medical Center. Pickett died from his injuries at a short time later.

Police later returned to Stenton Avenue where they found personal items, a cellphone and blood on the sidewalk outside the bar. A Philadelphia police crime camera and business surveillance cameras that captured at least part of the incident, said investigators.

More arrests could be coming. Last week, Police Capt. James Clark says arrests in the stabbing death of Pickett were imminent.

"We believe we have identified all of the participants involved in this fight and ultimate murder," said Clark.

Sources told NBC10 that the woman in the middle of the fight was dating Parker as well as one of the attackers.

Pickett was a tour manager and Parker, a tour employee, were working on preparations for Minaj's "The Pinkprint Tour," which is set to begin next month in Sweden.

Minaj tweeted that she knew the victims were in Philly to rehearse for her upcoming tour:

Pickett's cousin, who did not want to be identified, also confirmed with NBC10 that Pickett was in Philly to work on the tour with city rapper Meek Mill.

"They were all here for her," the cousin said. "I guess they were out celebrating and things went wrong."

During his career, Pickett worked with some of the biggest stars in the music industry, including Rihanna, Lady Gaga, Justin Timberlake and Hip-Hop artist, Fabolous, who shared his condolences on his Instagram page.

Rihanna also posted photos of her and Pickett on her Instagram page as well.

The City of Philadelphia offered a $20,000 reward for an arrest and conviction in Pickett's death.

Parker remained hospitalized in fair condition late last week.

NJ Home 'Disintegrated,' 4 Hurt in Gas Explosion

A gas explosion that leveled a home and left three people hurt Tuesday morning knocked a neighbor and her children to the ground.

"My windows blew out of my house and I dropped and I covered my daughter, because she was next to me," said Melissa Lewis. "I stood up and I heard them screaming outside and there were people be taken to the ambulance."

Gas crews were working on a gas main leak diagonally across from Lewis' home along Oak Avenue near U.S. Route 9 in the Cedar Run neighborhood of Stafford Township around 10:30 a.m. when the blast occurred.

"The house has been disintegrated," said Stafford Township Mayor John Spodofora.

Four people, including gas company workers, suffered injuries, said township police. One suffered extremely critical injuries and required CPR at the scene, said Spodofora.

In total, two of the injured were rushed to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center's Trauma Unit. It wasn't clear where the other two were taken.

Lewis was preparing to get her two children out of their home and into her car after learning of the gas main leak next door. She never got into the car. Lewis eventually walked out of the blast zone — her children and herself unharmed.

"I saw pieces of house floating all over my yard," said Lewis. "The insulation was all over the place and you could see the ambulances and people running around and there were big flames coming from the house."

As SkyForce10 hovered over the scene, debris could be seen scattered all over the place as some trees in the area burned. Only the home's foundation remained.

The blast could be felt up to one mile away, said officials.

About 75 home in the area were evacuated due to safety concerns, said police Capt. Tom Dellane. All schools in the area were dubbed safe.

A nearby home also appeared to be damaged by the blast.

Crews closed Route 9 as crews actively worked to correct the gas main break, said NJ Gas.

"The gas is kind of hanging in there," said Spodofora.

Gas crews first became aware of the leak shortly before 9 a.m. and homeowners from Perkins Lane down to Route 9 were evacuated, said officials.

Spodofora urged residents who smell gas in their homes to open all their windows, report it to police and leave the area immediately.

"We are trying to make sure everyone will be safe," said Spodofora.

AMBER ALERT: FBI, Police Search for Missing Del. Girl

A desperate mother broke down, begging for her baby's safe return during an news conference Tuesday morning, just hours after a multistate AMBER ALERT was issued for the missing Delaware girl.

"I'm just begging anybody who knows where she is or him or whoever's helping him, please bring her home," cried the girl's mother Dawn Barkus "I don't care how he does it, just bring her home."

Shortly after the AMBER ALERT was issued in Delaware, New Jersey and Ohio, the FBI was pulled into the search for 3-year-old Elinor Trotta, who was abducted by her father, 43-year-old Michael Trotta, Monday night following an alleged domestic assault.

Police responded to a home on the 800 block of East Basin Road in New Castle, Delaware around 6:45 p.m. and that's when Barkus told police Trotta, her ex-boyfriend, came to the home, assaulted her and then took their daughter.

"Mommy loves you," cried the girl's mother Dawn Barkus. "We have a routine every night and she's out of that routine and my heart is just broken."

Delaware State Police issued the alert because New Castle County Police said that Elinor is now in "imminent danger" and that Trotta may have fled with her to New Jersey — possibly heading to New York City.

Police told NBC10 they believe the girl is in danger based on several statements her father made though they wouldn't elaborate on what those statements were.

New Jersey State Police stated the severity of the situation was "extreme," and that there was an "extraordinary threat to life or property."

Ohio State Police confirmed that they were involved and that the FBI was also investigating.

Police originally said Trotta fled with Elinor in a 1989 gray Mazda 626 with Delaware plates but that car was later found near the scene in Delaware and towed away.

Later police updated the vehicle description saying that Trotta was last seen in the area of Mount Laurel, New Jersey in a bright red-colored SUV, possibly a Ford Explorer.

Elinor is described as a 3-year-old white female, weighing about 60 pounds with brown shoulder length hair. She was last seen wearing a purple puffy coat, pink pants and “Frozen” sneakers.

Michael Trotta is described as a white male, standing 5-foot, 8-inches tall, and weighing about 160 pounds, with a balding short haircut, scruffy beard and mustache. He was last seen wearing all black clothing.

"He is considered armed and dangerous," said New Castle County Police Chief Colonel Elmer Setting.

If you have any information on their whereabouts, please call 911 immediately. You can also call the New Castle County Police Department at 302-573-2800 or visit www.nccpd.com.

Alleged Ex-Lover Takes Stand in Butt Injection Trial

$

A doctor whose name was used to order silicone handled a Philadelphia woman accused of giving a lethal buttocks injection testified Tuesday that he had an affair with the so-called “Black Madam.”

Padge Victoria Windslowe is accused of injecting liquid silicone into the buttocks of several women. One of those women, 20-year-old Claudia Aderotimi, died after the substance spread to her heart and lungs.

On Tuesday, members of the jury learned how Windslowe allegedly obtained food grade silicone to fuel her side business. Dr. James Taterka, a local Gastroenterology Specialist at Hillmont G.I., was questioned by prosecution lawyers about silicone shipments ordered using the name of his Flourtown practice.

“My practice doesn’t use silicone,” Taterka explained, as the jury viewed at least 15 shipments claiming to be for Hillmont G.I.

Taterka also admitted to having an affair with Windslowe. He said it happened for about 3-months, in 1993. He said he quickly ended the relationship out of respect for his wife and children but their communication didn’t stop there.

“I never initiated contact,” he said, while explaining Windslowe’s desire to call him during difficult financial situations.

Taterka said he bought a car for Windslowe and gave her $10,000. He explained his fear of possible retaliation from Windslowe. The jury heard examples of previous incidents of retaliation by Windslowe – including the time she allegedly sent a naked picture of Taterka to his home. A letter addressed to his wife was included, Taterka claimed.

But the defense took a different angle – asking Taterka whether he ever taught Windslowe how to properly use a syringe. Lawyers cited their extensive on-and-off relationship, and Taterka’s loyalty to her desires.

“I would never do anything unethical to the medical community,” Taterka explained while denying the claims.

Prosecutors later presented two Food & Drug Administration chemists. Both examined items seized after the 2011 death, belonging to Windslowe. The chemists said items contained silicone, but they were unable to determine exactly what kind of silicone each item was comprised of.

The defense pounced – asking if either of the two labeled bottles, containing silicone, included warnings to call poison control if improperly used.

“I don’t think so,” said Dr. Adam Lanarotta, a 7-year veteran with the FDA Chemistry Center.

When a plastic surgery expert took the stand, prosecutors focused on the proper methods of plastic surgery. Dr. Robert Noone explained how to perform a legal buttock enhancement. The Board certified plastic surgeon said liquid silicone should never be injected into someone’s rear end. Gel silicone packets, similar to those used in breast implants, would be used to prevent potential spreading.

After reviewing a medical examiner’s report for two victims allegedly linked to Windslowe’s business, he concluded the reports were correct and that silicone spread throughout the bodies of both victims. One, however, was able to recover.

Closing arguments are expected to begin within the next two weeks.

NBC10 will continue to follow this trial as it develops.
