The three victims were not immediately identified by state police or local firefighters at the scene in the small borough of Hamburg, which is 60 miles northwest of Philadelphia.

The woman was pregnant and the children were ages 5 and 2, state police said later Sunday. A fourth person, identified only as a male occupant, jumped from a second-floor window. He was hospitalized with undisclosed injuries.

No cause is yet known.

Reports of flames coming from a house on South Fourth Street came in to Berks County emergency communications about midnight. The blaze took about two hours to extinguish.

'A Broken Heart': Friends Grieve for Jenna Burleigh

Temple University students are devastated and nervous after 22-year-old Jenna Burleigh’s remains were found Saturday night inside a storage bin near the Poconos.

The junior had barely finished her first week at Temple when she went out with friends Thursday night to popular college bar Pub Webb on North 15th Street and Cecil B Moore Avenue. She was last seen leaving the bar with 29-year-old Joshua Hupperterz, police said.

Her remains were recovered Saturday from a home in Paupack Township, Wayne County, in the Poconos. Officials said was killed in North Philadelphia and then her body transferred to Jenkintown before making her final journey north.

She died from blunt trauma and strangulation, according to the Wayne County Coroner's Office.

Close friends said the news has left them shattered.

“She touched everyone’s soul in her own way. It was really beautiful,” Danielle Halteman said hiccuping through tears. “It feels like a broken heart. It’s hard to imagine a world without someone who has been so close.”

On the night Burleigh died, she and a group of friends sang karaoke at Pub Webb. It was a party like any other, classmate and friend Peyton Rutz said.

“It’s hard to put into words how much she impacted each and every one of us,” she said. “We were all just really excited to see her.”

Burleigh had recently transferred from Montgomery County Community College to Temple and was majoring in film and media studies. She met Hupperterz at Pub Webb, and police have no reason to think they knew each other outside of that encounter, officials said.

Other classmates and fellow Temple Owls remained in shock following news of Burleigh’s death.

"A lot of people are in constant fear now that it's real,” first-year student Ana Olivera said. Her mother came to visit Sunday questioned whether Olivera should remain on campus given the murder investigation.

Another first-year student told NBC10 school officials are encouraging students to walk in groups and remain aware of their surroundings at all time.

Senior Ahmad Goode, who took a class with Hupperterz, said the 29-year-old lied about his past and even claimed to have been on the Temple football team.

“Sitting with someone for that period of time and now knowing what they could be capable of, it’s terrifying,” he said.

Anti-Rizzo Banner Hung Over i-676

A sign of the continued anger over late Philadelphia Mayor Frank Rizzo appeared loud and clear overnight.

A banner was hung on the 10th street overpass on I-676 in Center City for all to see.

The banner used profanity and a picture of a pig with Frank Rizzo's name on it.

It comes as the debate continues over what to do wth the former mayor's statue in Center City. The statue and a mural of the former mayor were vandalized last month amid controversy over monuments and statues honoring confederate leaders which also spurred protests in Charlottesville, Virginia that turned deadly.

Driven by Philadelphia Councilwoman Helen Gym, there is growing support for removing tributes to Rizzo, who died of a heart attack in 1991. Some call the statue and mural reminders of Rizzo's strained history with the African-American and gay communities during the late 1960s and 1970s.

Rizzo, a hard-charging, big-mouthed icon of head-cracking law enforcement in Philadelphia, served as police commissioner for four years before serving two terms as the city’s mayor from 1972 to 1980. His friends, family and fans remember him as a devoted public servant unafraid to speak his mind. Thousands of people signed a recent online petition to keep the statue in place.

Rizzo's detractors saw his police force as corrupt and brutal.

The city's art commission will decide what to do with the Rizzo statue.

Two young children were tossed to safety from a burning third floor apartment Monday morning into the arms of officers below, officials said.

Two adults also trapped in the burning apartment in Clifton Heights, Delaware County also jumped to safety.

All four were taken to the hospital, but officials say none of the injuries were life threatening.

The dramatic scene unfolded around 8:30 at the Cliff Park apartments located along the 300 block of North Sycamore Avenue. The fire spread to 3-alarms as crews worked to contain the flames.

Officials say the fire was sparked by a 5-year-old child playing with a lighter.

Two fire fighters also suffered minor injuries.

The American Red Cross set up a shelter at the nearby Clifton Heights fire station for the estimated 100 residents displaced by the fire.
