An argument between two friends over taking too long to get ready to go out led to a stabbing inside a Center City hotel, according to police.

Police responded to the Embassy Suites on 1776 Ben Franklin Parkway Saturday around 1 a.m. for a reported stabbing. When they arrived they were met by a 24-year-old man who claimed he had been stabbed by his friend, 24-year-old Tyress Salmon.

The man told police he and Salmon began arguing earlier over not getting ready fast enough to go out to the club. The argument turned physical and Salmon then took out a razor and cut the victim across the neck, causing a laceration, police said.

The victim was taken to Hahnemann Hospital and is currently in stable condition. Salmon, who is from the Bronx, New York, was arrested and charged with attempted criminal homicide, aggravated assault, simple assault and other related offenses.

A man was arrested after he allegedly broke into his neighbor’s home and then barricaded himself inside his own house.

Police say a 24-year-old woman was inside the living room of her home on the 3400 block of Crystal Street around 2:50 a.m. Saturday when she heard gunshots. She then heard someone banging on the backdoor of her house. The woman told police she saw 45-year-old Agustin Burgos enter her kitchen with something in his hand. She screamed and then ran out of her home, investigators said.

The woman’s husband then went into their home and saw Burgos run out of the backdoor, according to officials. Burgos then allegedly ran inside his own house next door leading to a barricade situation. A SWAT team then breached the door and took Burgos into custody without further incident. Burgos was arrested and charged with burglary, criminal trespass and criminal mischief.

Loved Ones Rally for Slain Philadelphia Mother

Loved ones marched in the streets Saturday to honor and demand justice for a Philadelphia mother who was murdered nearly a year ago in front of her young daughter.

Operation Save Our City held a rally in Port Richmond for Stephanie Dzikowski. Dzikowski, 22, was found dead back on July 30, 2015 inside her home on Aramingo Avenue. Investigators say a suspect went inside her home and shot her execution-style while her 2-year-old daughter was nearby.  Police say Dzikowski’s fiancé later discovered her body in their bedroom.

Neighbors told NBC10 they heard one gunshot from inside the home the night of Dzikowski’s murder. One neighbor tried to chase the suspect who was able to get away. Surveillance video captured the unidentified man running on Aramingo Avenue moments after the shooting.

While police continue to investigate, no arrests have been made nine months later.

During Saturday’s rally, loved ones called for an arrest in Dzikowski’s murder as well as other unsolved deaths in the city while marching down the same route that her killer took as he fled. Dzikowski’s father, Stephen Dzikowski, also attended the rally.

“I’m without a daughter and my granddaughter is without a mother,” he said. “It hurts me every day and rips my heart out not to see my daughter, knowing that she has a lovely daughter.”

Police believe Dzikowski was targeted though her family and friends told NBC10 she didn’t have any enemies that they knew of.

If you have any information on her murder, please call the Philadelphia police homicide unit at 215-686-3334, the police tip line at 215-686-8477 or text a tip to PPDTIP (773847).

Officials collected over 5,600 pounds of unwanted and expired medications during the 11th annual National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day in Montgomery County.

From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, officials collected unwanted and expired prescriptions and over-the-counter medicines at 29 locations throughout Montgomery County. All of the drugs were then dropped off at the Upper Merion Police Department, weighed and loaded into a truck and then taken to an incineration location.

In all 5,637.8 pounds (almost three tons) of drugs were collected during the event, 50% more than last year’s total, according to officials.

The event was part of an ongoing campaign that seeks to prevent pill abuse and theft in Montgomery County. During the initiative, officials have reached out to residents and encouraged them to get rid of unused prescription drugs that pose a safety hazard and can contribute to prescription drug abuse.

“Prescription drug abuse is the nation’s fastest-growing drug problem, and take-back events like this are an indispensable tool for reducing the threat that the diversion and abuse of these drugs pose to public health,” a Lansdale Police spokesman wrote.

Some 40,000 runners will brave the rain on Sunday and take to Broad Street for the 37th annual Blue Cross Broad Street Run.

You can watch the race live right here on NBC10.com or the NBC10 app beginning at 8 a.m., when the first runners step off on Broad Street near Fisher Avenue in Logan.

Runners will make their way down Broad Street, around City Hall at mile five, and continue on through South Philadelphia into the Navy Yard.

The Blue Cross Broad Street Run is the largest 10-mile race in the United States.

Despite the dreary forecast with rain and cooler temperatures, runners said they were still excited for the race.

"This is a race I would run in the rain, wind sleet, snow. It's just a fun run. I love the atmosphere and the energy," Fred Burke, a runner from Chicago, told NBC10.

NBC10 crews are fanned out throughout the race route to bring live coverage, which you can watch right here on NBC10.com or on the NBC10 app.

The horn sounded at 8:05 a.m., and the elite runners stepped off to start their journey down Broad Street shortly behind racers completing the race in wheelchairs.

Racers in wheelchairs will cross the finish line first, and then runners with the fastest times are expected to cross just before 9 a.m., as the last corral of runners leaves Broad and Fisher.

After the race, hear from the top finishers as they talk with NBC10 reporters beyond the finish line.

100-Year-Old Runner Sets Record at Penn Relays

Elbows keeping pace, Ida Keeling roused the crowd at this year's Penn Relays as the 100-year-old Brooklyn woman became the oldest runner to cross the finish line.

This 100-meter dash was a race for the ages -- runners 80 and older. Ida clocked in at one minute, 17.33 seconds.

"I'm a nice example of what you can do with yourself, and I thank God everyday for my blessings," Keeling said Saturday, stealing the hearts of spectators who cheered as Keeling's daughter Shelley raised her mom's arms in the celebratory V formation and turned her mom to face her fans in the stands.

Keeling's story is remarkable not just for her feats as a late-in-life runner, but for the history and heartache of her life; her ability to keep putting one foot in front of the other.

On her own, Keeling raised four children after losing her husband to a heart attack when he was 42. After two of her sons were murdered in what police believe were drug-related killings, Keeling became depressed and her health suffered. Daughter Shelley got Keeling back on her feet, literally.

"I always understood from mother that you die on your feet rather than live on your knees," Shelley Keeling told the New York Times.

Ida ran her first race at 67, and hasn't stopped since. You can read about her life and diet and exercise routine in the NYTimes Well blog.
