Investigators are searching for a man who they believe impersonated a police officer in Evesham Township, New Jersey.

A driver told police he was traveling on North Maple Avenue Wednesday when he spotted an unmarked, gold-colored Ford Crown Victoria that had activated its emergency lights and siren. The driver pulled over and the Crown Victoria pulled up next to him.

The driver said the man in the Crown Victoria then identified himself as a police officer and said that he had cut him off. He never showed any identification or credentials however, police said. The man then drove away.

The suspect is described as a white male with dark brown hair and a goatee wearing a navy blue hooded sweatshirt. His Crown Victoria had a New Jersey license plate with the tag “S80AUX,” police said. Investigators later determined that license plate doesn’t match any in the New Jersey state database.

No arrests have been made. Police continue to investigate the incident.

A Delaware woman was arrested after she allegedly slapped a police officer in the chest when he told her to lower her voice as she was arguing with her mother.

Noni Cottingham, 44, of Rehoboth Beach is charged with offensive touching of a law enforcement officer and resisting arrest. On Saturday around 2:40 a.m., Rehoboth Beach Police responded to the 200 block of Rehoboth Avenue where several Delaware State Police units were already with Cottingham. Investigators say Cottingham was intoxicated at the time and police were trying to get her home safely.

Troopers made arrangements for Cottingham’s mother to pick her up. When she arrived however Cottingham refused to leave with her and the two women began to argue, police said.

As the argument continued and Cottingham became louder, an officer approached her and told her to lower her voice, according to officials. Cottingham allegedly slapped the officer in the chest with two open hands and told him that he needed to “shut up.” Officers then told Cottingham she was under arrest, officials said. As they tried to take her into custody she allegedly pulled away and struggled.

The officers finally restrained Cottingham against a vehicle and placed her into handcuffs. Investigators say Cottingham’s mouth struck the vehicle as officers restrained her and she suffered a small laceration on her lip. No officers were injured during the incident.

Cottingham was arraigned and committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution.

3 Die in Shooting, Barricade at Kensington House

Three people are dead and a fourth is wounded after police say a man went on a shooting spree in Kensington and barricaded himself inside a house early Sunday morning.

Police were called to Westmoreland Street near E for reports of a shooting at 3:43 a.m., according to Chief Inspector Joe Sullivan. When they arrived, they found a man believed to be the first victim with a gunshot wound to his arm. He was taken to a local hospital for treatment, Sullivan said.

Not long after, police responded to Westmoreland Street near Tampa -- less than a block away -- for a shooting inside the house. When officers arrived, they were able to talk with a man through the door, but he wouldn't let them inside, Sullivan said. Police declared a barricade at 4:10 a.m. and called SWAT teams and hostage negotiators.

The man stayed in the house more than an hour and at one point fired several shots at SWAT officers from inside as they climbed onto a nearby roof, police said.

Sullivan said at one point, the man called 9-1-1 and told a police supervisor on the phone that he was armed with a shotgun and at least one person was dead inside the house with him.

Hostage negotiators eventually stepped in, Sullivan said, and managed to convince the man to surrender. He did so peacefully and was taken for questioning.

When police got into the house, they discovered a grisly scene: three people inside suffering from gunshot wounds. One victim, a man, was found lying on the living room floor with an apparent shotgun wound to his head, police said. Another man was found on the dining room floor also suffering an apparent shotgun wound to his head, and a woman was found lying on the kitchen floor with what appeared to be a shotgun wound to the head, according to police.

Police also found a gun inside the house.

"It's a tragic scene," Sullivan said early Sunday.

The chief added that preliminary information indicated that all four victims were injured in the same incident, and that it appears the man found first managed to escape from the gunman. It's unclear what led to the shooting or what the gunman's relationship to the victims is. He said the suspect is known to police.

One armed-robbery suspect is dead and another is on the loose after police in South Jersey say officers exchanged gunfire with the suspects overnight.

Police in Vineland responded to an armed robbery involving two gunmen about 1 a.m. at 7th and Cherry streets, according to the Cumberland County Prosecutor's Office.

Officers tracked down the two suspects nearby, near East Avenue and Almond Street, officials said, and began to chase the pair on foot. At one point, authorities said, one of the suspects shot at police and an exchange of gunfire ensued.

Officers' return fire wounded one of the suspects, officials said, while the second escaped.

The suspect who was shot was taken to Inspira Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead a short time after the shooting. Authorities later identified him as 31-year-old Richard Bard Jr., of Bridgeton.

The prosecutor's office said in a statement that a gun was found near where the suspect fell.

The second suspect remains on the loose. Authorities said he was wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt at the time of the incident and is considered to be armed and dangerous.

The victim of the robbery was flown to Atlantic City Medical Center and was in stable condition later Sunday, police said. The nature of the victim's injuries was unclear.

No officers were injured in the shooting, and it remains under investigation by the prosecutor's office and New Jersey State Police. The discharging officer was placed on administrative duty, as is protocol while any investigation of a police-involved shooting is conducted.

Anyone with information on the second robbery suspect or about the incident is asked to contact 609-381-4890 or 856-453-0486.

Shootings Kill 3, Wound 7 in Violent Four Hours in Philly

A violent overnight across Philadelphia left 10 people shot, three of whom died, in five separate incidents within a roughly four-hour span.

In the first shooting, a 25-year-old man was shot once in the wrist on Lancaster Avenue near 41st Street, in West Philadelphia's Powelton neighborhood, just after 2 a.m., police said. That man was in stable condition at a local hospital, and no arrests were made in the shooting.

Less than two hours later, about 3:40 a.m., three men were at 9th and Ontario streets in North Philadelphia when police say someone opened fire on them, wounding all three. One victim, age 28, suffered a gunshot wound to his knee, police said. Police said they were unsure exactly where on the body the other two men were shot, but all three were taken to the hospital and listed in stable condition. No arrests were made in that shooting, and police have not said what they believe motivated it.

About the same time, police said, officers in Kensington responded to what would eventually become a standoff with a shotgun-wielding man who would ultimately shoot four people, killing three of them. When police finally got the man to surrender, they found the bodies of two men and a woman, all suffering what appeared to be shotgun wounds to their heads, inside a house on Westmoreland Street.

A little more than an hour later and not far away, a 27-year-old man was near Front Street and Lehigh Avenue, in North Philadelphia, about 4:50 a.m. when police say someone shot him in the arm. He was taken to Temple University Hospital in a private vehicle and listed in stable condition, police said. No arrests were reported.

Less than an hour after that, about 5:45 a.m., police said a 19-year-old man suffered a graze wound to his buttocks when someone shot at him on Erie Avenue near B Street, about a block from the headquarters of the 24th and 25th Police Districts in North Philadelphia. Police said they did not make any arrests in that shooting.

The spate of shootings Sunday morning came on the heels of a tragic Saturday in Philadelphia, after a 4-year-old girl was shot to death inside a home in Kensington Saturday afternoon.

Police Seize 60 Dirt Bikes and ATVs, Arrest 3 in Philly

Philadelphia Police made three arrests and confiscated 60 dirt bikes and ATVs Sunday as part of a citywide crackdown. Officials say two of the arrests were related to narcotics while one arrest was for a rider who allegedly fled police at Tulip and Somorset streets.

A similar citywide crackdown occurred in March in which Philadelphia Police seized 53 dirt bikes and ATVs. During Sunday’s press conference on the seizures, police said they’ve taken in more than 200 dirt bikes and ATVs since their operation began this year.

On the same day of the press conference, two people, including a child, were hurt after an ATV crashed into a car at 57th Street and Whitby Avenue around 4 p.m. The child was taken to the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia while the second victim was taken to Presbyterian Hospital.

Police have not yet revealed whether anyone will be charged in connection to the accident. During the press conference however, police said the crash illustrated the problem of people riding ATVs and dirt bikes on city streets.

Despite being illegal on city streets, dirt bike riding and ATV riding are popular activities in Philadelphia, especially during the spring and summer months.
