Police are searching for a man who was caught on surveillance video stealing from a local daycare.

The suspect went through the backdoor of Nana’s Daycare on the 3900 block of Frankford Avenue around 1 a.m. back on July 6. Once inside, police say he first went into a refrigerator and grabbed some food. He then stole three televisions, an X-Box gaming system, Wii gaming system and four DVD players as well as diapers and baby formula.

The suspect then fled the scene in a Chevy Impala, police said.

“You must have no love in your heart for the kids if you take from them,” said Joeanna McClain, the owner of Nana’s, which serves children from birth to the age of 17.

“This is a place where they provide daycare for our children while we work and go to school,” said Beverly Cobb, the mother of one of the kids at the daycare. “And he’s taking away from the kids.”

In all, the thief stole about $5,000 in merchandise. The daycare is looking to replace the stolen items as the investigation continues.

If you have any information on the theft, please call Philadelphia Police.

A man and woman are recovering after they were both struck in a hit-and-run crash that was caught on camera.

The 20-year-old man was riding a motorcycle while his 21-year-old friend was sitting in the back around 2:30 p.m. at Saint Vincent Street in Northeast Philadelphia. As the man made a right turn onto Castor Avenue he was suddenly struck by a vehicle that ran a red light, according to Giedrius Virketis, the victim’s stepfather. Video from an NBC10 viewer captured the vehicle, which appears to be a 4-door Honda Civic, flee the scene moments after the crash.

“Maybe they need help,” Virketis said. “Maybe you need to take them to the hospital. But you just don’t leave a human being on the ground and just run away.”

The motorcyclist was knocked unconscious in the crash and suffered a broken bone in his face. His passenger was thrown off the motorcycle and suffered a broken leg. Fortunately both victims were wearing helmets. The motorcyclist was treated and released from the hospital. The 21-year-old woman remains hospitalized however.

No arrests have been made.

An investigation is underway after a New Jersey Transit bus driver was caught on video using a cellphone while behind the wheel.

A woman who wanted to remain anonymous told NBC10 she was on a NJ Transit bus heading from Trenton to Princeton Saturday night when she noticed the bus driver’s head was looking down and away from the road. The driver was texting as he drove then picked up the phone and made two calls, according to the woman. She recorded the incident and sent the video to NBC10.

“I wanted to yell at him, ‘What are you doing?’” the woman said. “He answered the phone not once but twice!”

Officials with NJ Transit told NBC10 they routinely send undercover supervisors on routes to make sure all the rules are followed. They also said violations such as using a cellphone while driving are “quite rare.” Officials with the agency are currently investigating the case and promise swift and appropriate action once the investigation is complete.

NJ Fire Kills 1, Displaces Others

Arson investigators are looking into a fire that killed at least one person and chewed through a home in New Jersey overnight, authorities say.

The fatal fire broke out a house on Pine Street in Morristown at about 11:30 p.m. Monday and destroyed the multi-family dwelling, authorities say.

The front portion of the home was enveloped in flames when firefighters arrived, and crews had to help free one occupant who was stuck atop the roof of the home's porch.

The blaze was brought under control early Tuesday, but dozens of firefighters and emergency crews remained at the scene later in the morning.

It's not clear whether the person who died perished inside the home or was able to escape first. It's not clear if there were other injuries.

Morristown Mayor Tim Dougherty said that several families were displaced by the blaze.

Arson investigators arrived at the scene later Tuesday morning to investigate the cause of the blaze.

How Did Hit-&-Run Driver Not See my 'Good Boy?'

“Why did you hit my baby and didn’t see his (bike) in broad daylight?” asked an emotional Frederica McKee.

McKee spoke to NBC10 Tuesday morning saying her son, 17-year-old Tyrone Tillman Jr. died over the weekend after being struck by a hit-and-run driver in the city's Hunting Park section.

Tillman, a football player about to enter his senior year at Edison High School, was riding his Huffy mountain bike on the 4000 block of N 2nd street around 1:10 p.m. Sunday when a driver passing another vehicle went into the wrong lane and struck him, said investigators.

Medics rushed the cyclist to Temple University Hospital where doctors pronounced him dead a short time later.

“My baby is a good boy," said McKee, tears swelling in her eyes. Tillman was the older brother to six siblings.

McKee learned of her son's death late Monday night after being contacted by the boy's father.

"They had to fingerprint him to identify him because he didn't have an ID on him," said McKee.

After the wreck, surveillance video showed the driver -- who police have not yet identified -- stopping, getting out of her SUV and looking at Tillman before driving off. Investigators eventually caught up to her at 7th and Atlantic streets and took her in for questioning before releasing her pending further investigation. They said it appeared the woman -- considered a person of interest -- may have tried to remove her license plates.

McKee expressed frustration that the woman believed to be behind the wheel of the SUV that struck her son was let go.

"They had her and then let her go? Who does that? He's dead! Why's she not in custody?

"For her to kill him and drive off... I don't understand how she sleeps at night," said McKee.

Folks in South Jersey and Pennsylvania used caution Tuesday as roads flooded as heavy rain and thunderstorms pounded parts of the area.

The National Weather Service issued Flash Flood Warning through the early afternoon for parts of South Jersey as nearly 5 inches of rain fell in some of Salem County prompting flooding fears.

The heavy downpours weren't exclusive to South Jersey as people along the Main Line and in parts of Bucks County also experienced rain midday Tuesday. The weather service issued a Flood Advisory through 7:30 p.m. for central Bucks County. They had earlier issued a Flood Advisory for other parts of Pennsylvania and New Jersey.

The weather service also reported at least 1 foot of of water on Route 73 where it meets the Atlantic City Expressway in Atlantic County.

If you are out driving in the rain DO NOT drive through standing water.

The wet weather also caused some departure and arrival delays at Philadelphia Airport so if you are headed to the airport for a flight or to pick someone up, check your flight status first.

More showers, some heavy, will move through the region overnight. There will be a flood threat Wednesday as the heavy rain continues and there could be localized flooding in the morning and afternoon. The rain should then end by the evening commute.

Stick with the NBC10 First Alert Weather Team for more details on the wet weather.

If you plan on spending time down the Shore this weekend, the New Jersey SPCA has a warning for you: do not leave your pet unattended in your car or you could end up in jail.

On Saturday, July 18, the NJSPCA Law Enforcement Division will converge on the Jersey shore (from Point Pleasant to Seaside Park) looking for animals left unattended in vehicles.

If you are caught and are a New Jersey resident, your animal will be removed from your car by Animal Control (and taken to Vet Hospital) and you will be issued summons.

If you are from out of state, you will be arrested by the NJSPCA Officers. In addition, your dog will be removed by Animal Control (and taken to Vet Hospital) and you will need to post bail to be released from jail.

Each year, the NJSPCA performs this detail and each year they say animals are saved from hot cars.

The officers that are part of this enforcement detail will be volunteering their time.

The NJSPCA reminds owners that dogs left in a vehicle under inhumane conditions can lead to brain damage, heat stroke and even death.

The warning from the NJSPCA comes on the heels of a South Jersey man facing animal cruelty charges for leaving two puppies unattended in a car who later died.

Rescuers Free Screaming Worker Pinned by Limb

Rescuers worked carefully midday Tuesday to free a tree trimmer who became pinned by a limb weighing more than a ton while working on a large tree during a storm in South Jersey.

The high-angle rescue played out along tree-lined Loucroft Road, just off Kings Highway, in Haddonfield, New Jersey. Neighbors said they heard a loud snap then heard the private contractor who was using a bucket on a lift to work on the the tree screaming "please help me" after becoming pinned.

A large limb from the tree came down on the 52-year-old worker and pinned his leg against the blue platform he was working on just after 11 a.m., said Haddonfield Police Lt. Jason Cutler.

Fire crews could be seen extending ladders up onto a tree with broken limbs as local police roped off the area.

The worker remained conscious and alert as crews from Haddonfield as well as other nearby towns worked to stabilize the limb, said Cutler.

After nearly two hours, fire crews lowered the man down from the tree as EMS workers stabilized the man's leg. Trauma surgeons stood by and then rushed the man into a waiting ambulance that took him to Cooper University Medical Center.

Crews estimated the limb measured 25 inches in diameter and weighed about 2,500 pounds. Quick-moving storms were reported in the area around the time the man got trapped. No word yet on exactly what caused the limb to fall in his direction.

Dash Cam Catches Cyclists on Philly Expressway

A motorist's dash cam caught two cyclists taking the city's new Indego bike share bikes for a daring spin Saturday night on a downtown Philadelphia expressway.

Mervin Choun, 26, said he got on I-676 west at 8th Street in Chinatown about 10 p.m. Saturday night headed toward Ben Franklin Parkway and noticed that other drivers were slowing down. Then, Choun said, he spotted two cyclists riding what he recognized as Indego bikes that are part of a bike-share program recently launched in the city.

In the video captured by Choun's dash cam, the cyclists can be seen riding along the edge of the right lane, hugging the concrete wall. They do not appear to be wearing helmets as a sedan behind them in the right land brakes.

Choun said he recognized the Indego bikes by the lights on them, and that from what he could see as he passed, they appeared to have little interaction with motorists on the expressway.

The speed limit on that stretch of I-676 is 50 mph. Pennsylvania law prohibits bicycles on freeways.

Denise Goren, director of policy and planning in the Mayor's Office of Transportation and Utilities, told NBC10's Drew Smith that the city is aware of the incident. She said the cyclists' trip on I-676 was clearly a dangerous situation, and that the city is trying to promote safe practices for people using the bike-share bicycles.

'I've Been Through This Before:' McNabb

Former Eagles starting quarterback Donovan McNabb told an Arizona police officer “I’ve been through this before” while being booked for his second drunk driving arrest.

A Gilbert (Ariz.) Police Department incident report obtained by NBC10 lays out McNabb’s June 28 arrest after he allegedly rammed his Land Rover sport utility vehicle into a police officer's wife’s car. Reporting Officer Michael Holyoak responded to the fender bender at the request of the officer’s wife and wrote out the police report that charges McNabb with DUI of the slightest degree, DUI with a blood alcohol content of .08 or more and a charge for the collision.

[[314769941, C]]

Holyoak refers to the former Eagles Pro Bowler as “Donovan” throughout the report. The officer said that he and another officer performed a field sobriety test on McNabb, who had a strong odor of alcohol on his breath, bloodshot/watery eyes and slurred speech as well as having his shirt on inside out. Body camera video of the arrest shows McNabb explaining that he had a cold and was on cough medication while declaring he had nothing to drink.

[[314770261, C]]

Blood alcohol results obtained from the nearby Mesa Police Department lab revealed that McNabb’s blood – taken in the early hours of June 29 – showed a BAC of .171, which is more than double the Arizona state limit of .08.

The police report reveals that before being taken back to the Gilbert Police station, McNabb – his breath smelling of alcohol – repeatedly said he was “just trying to get home” and even offered to walk if needed, but insisted he was “good to drive” after leaving Blue 32, a sports bar located in a strip mall.

[[314770521, C]]

McNabb gave police permission to give him field sobriety tests, which the reports says he failed twice. Officer Holyoak said McNabb tripped while being led into the station and interrupted the officer’s instructions stating “I know what it means. I’ve been through this before.” (McNabb was arrested for DUI in December 2013 and later served one day.) McNabb then consented to the blood test that revealed he had alcohol in his system.

A search of McNabb’s SUV revealed $787 in cash but no illegal substances, said police.

After being photographed and finger printed, McNabb received a courtesy ride home from the arresting officer.

McNabb played 11 seasons with the Eagles, making six Pro Bowl appearances and starting 16 playoff games including a Super Bowl before playing for Redskins and Vikings for one season each before retiring after the 2011 season.

WATCH: Skydiving Plane Nearly Hits Cars on NJ Highway

A skydiving school plane came within feet of striking unsuspecting motorists as it made a dramatic emergency landing on the main road to a Jersey Shore town.

The small aircraft from Skydive East Coast skydiving school in nearby West Creek landed safely in the median along Barnegat Road (New Jersey Route 72) near Main Street (U.S. Route 9) in Stafford Township, New Jersey shortly before 10:15 a.m. Sunday, said Stafford Township Police. The road is the main route to and from Long Beach Island.

On Tuesday, Stafford Township Police released video of the landing on the department's Facebook page. The video shows how close the plane came to crashing into cars traveling down the road -- landing just feet behind motorists and nearly clipping cars before coming to a rest in the grassy median.

Shawn Maloney of Beach Haven, New Jersey, witnessed the landing.

"He hit the ground and bounced a couple times," he said. "Nice and easy and then hit the median in the grass and he went back and forth a little bit and just missed cars by a few feet maybe. And power lines too."

John Demming was driving along Route 72 with his daughter when they suddenly saw a ton of traffic.

"We initially thought it was heavy shore traffic but it was odd because it's such a nice day," said Demming. "We then saw fire trucks and police as we drove and then saw the airplane in the grass median and couldn't believe it. Definitely not something you see every day."

The single-engine, four-seater, white-and-blue aircraft was carrying five people, including students from Skydive East Coast, when it lost power forcing the pilot to make an emergency landing, said police. A skydiving instructor suffered a minor cut on his arm.

Officers closed the left lanes of traffic in both directions as they investigated the incident. After about 90 minutes, Stafford police tweeted a photo showing the fixed-wing Cessna -- with no visible damage -- pulled off the roadway and into a nearby parking lot.

The Federal Aviation Administration continues to investigate the incident.
