Chip Kelly Visited Victor Cruz in Hospital

Chip Kelly visited Victor Cruz in the hospital the morning after the Giants' wide receiver suffered a season-ending knee injury against the Eagles.

"It was amazing, overwhelming almost, to see how many people reached out, how many people have sent things to my home, how many have sent their regards, sent me text messages, emails, and just to know the kind of effect I have on people and kind of the thing that they sent and the amount of people that sent," Cruz said in a conference call Friday, via Jordan Raanan of NJ.com.

"Chip Kelly came to visit me in the hospital in Philadelphia after the game and whatnot. Just to know that things like that, the way I carry myself and the way I play the game just fuels people and gets them excited and has them think about me that much more to come visit me and make sure I'm OK, it's just overwhelming. It's a great feeling."

Cruz stayed overnight at Jefferson Hospital after tearing his patellar tendon in his right knee Sunday night during the Eagles' 27-0 win over the Giants at the Linc. He was transferred to a New York hospital the next day and underwent successful season-ending surgery. He is expected to miss four to eight months.

The 27-year-old had to be carted off the field in the third quarter with the Giants down 20-0. He went up for a catch on a 4th-and-goal play in the end zone and landed holding his right knee. Cruz said he expects to return from the injury.

"I don't have any doubt in my mind," he said. "I don't have any doubt that I will be back. I don't have any doubt my rehab process will be successful or that I will be in tip-top shape and ready to go when the time is right."

WATCH: Zombie Scarecrow Terrorizes Philly

If you spot a silly scarecrow walking through the streets of Philly this Halloween, think twice before you laugh and take pictures with him. A terrifying, flesh-eating zombie could be behind the smiling mask.

That’s the premise of a scary, but funny prank video shot in the streets of Philadelphia. The video shows popular YouTube prankster Ed Bassmaster wearing a goofy scarecrow mask and greeting people at various spots in Philly.

As the unsuspecting Philadelphians smile and take photos, Bassmaster removes his mask, revealing a face covered in zombie makeup.

Reactions in the video range from horrified screams to hysterical laughter. Yet perhaps the best, and arguably most “Philly” reaction, comes from a man near the halfway point of the clip. Rather than scream in terror as Bassmaster takes off his mask, the man picks up a skateboard and repeatedly tells the “zombie” to back up. Bassmaster then runs away as the man yells towards him, “ain’t nobody running from that!” If there’s ever a zombie apocalypse, hopefully the skateboard-wielding Philadelphian will be around to protect us.

It’s not the first Halloween-themed Philly prank from Bassmaster that’s gone viral. Last month he walked through Philly wearing Vampire makeup. The reactions, as you could imagine, were equally hilarious.

Thousands Gather in Camden for The Color Run Night

Around 10,000 people gathered in Camden, New Jersey Saturday night for The Color Run Night.

The event began 7:30 p.m. at Campbell’s Field on North Delaware Avenue.

“The cool thing about this race is it’s a night-themed event,” said race director Kent Phippen. “This is our first nighttime event in the country. We’re testing it out here in the Philadelphia market.”

The event, which was founded in March 2011, is a five-kilometer, un-timed race in which runners wearing white are doused from head to toe with different colors at each kilometer.

“All the zones are going to be glowing color zones,” Phippen said. “There are going to be lots of black lights along the course. The powder is a little bit different because it glows in the dark. Everybody gets their own black light head lamp to run with.”

A daytime Color Run took place in July at the Wells Fargo Center. Phippen told NBC10 they were unable to hold the nighttime race at Wells Fargo due to limited availability.

“We wanted it to be over at the sports complex but we couldn’t find a date that worked for them in the fall,” Phippen said. “Campbell’s Field has been really grateful. We already knew we wanted to do a night-themed event in the area. We sought out a few vendors and thought this one worked best.”

Phippen admits he received requests to change the name to the “Camden Color Run” but decided to stick with the Philly title.

“We felt that since it was the Philly area it made sense to call it the Philadelphia Color Run,” he said.

Phippen also addressed the safety concerns due to the event being held in Camden.

“We felt comfortable working with Campbell’s field and the county and felt that everything would be okay because they have lots of large events at the field,” he said. “We checked it out ourselves and talked to local law enforcement.  On top of all that we really beefed up security and increased our security significantly. On top of what the local law enforcement is going to do, we have 40 more security officers patrolling parking lots.”

The race is expected to end around 10:30 p.m. with a party and two fireworks shows.

“The backdrop is the whole Philly skyline and the Ben Franklin Bridge,” Phippen said. “So it’s going to be pretty cool.”

Shane Victorino Sends Jersey to Bucket List Baby

The story of "Baby Shane" and the bucket list his parents completed in his honor touched the hearts of millions of people nationwide, including former Philadelphia Phillie Shane Victorino. Victorino delivered and signed a Phillies jersey for Shane Michael Haley, who died just four hours after he was born. Victorino met with Shane's parents, Jenna Gassew and Dan Haley, who posted a photo on their Facebook page.

Shane died due to complications from a rare condition where babies are born without major parts of their skull and brain known as Anencephaly.

His parents found out about his diagnosis back in April while Shane was still in utero. They created a Facebook page, asking for prayers.

The young couple then began filling up their summer with visits to the Jersey shore, Lancaster and many Philly-area attractions like The Franklin Institute, checking off each trip and using the hashtag #shanesbucketlist.

"It's nice and it's a blessing that they're with you for the whole thing," Jenna said of her pregnancy.

Support poured in for Gassew and Haley and their "Prayers for Shane" page grew to more than half a million likes since NBC10 first reported on the story in August. People from around the world were following the updates on the page the day of his birth and soon-after death.

The Facebook community has stuck by the young couple’s side. They continue to offer condolences and helped alert NBC10 this past weekend when the Prayers for Shane page was compromised by hackers and flooded with inappropriate images. NBC10 worked with Facebook to restore the page.

Gassew and Haley post frequently on the page as they mourn the death of their son.

On Wednesday, which was Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day, the couple invited everyone to light a candle from 7 — 8 p.m. to create an "International Wave of Light" in memory of Shane.

"I wish more than anything I could kiss those cheeks one last time but I find comfort in knowing that he, along with all the other beautiful babies that left Earth too soon, will be forever remembered,” the Gassew’s Facebook post read.

Viewings for the "cherished son, grandson, great-grandson, nephew and cousin" were held Friday from 6 — 8 p.m. and Saturday 8:30 — 9:45 a.m. at The Donahue Funeral Home in Upper Darby.

His funeral Mass took place at St. Laurence Catholic Church off West Chester Pike at 10 a.m. Saturday and was followed by his burial service at SS Peter and Paul Cemetery in Springfield.

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that contributions in Shane Michael’s name be made to the J-Foundation, a nonprofit corporation supporting children facing life-limiting illness and their families.

"Shane spent his entire life in the arms of people that loved him unconditionally," Haley said of his son’s passing. "I don’t think you could ask for a more beautiful life than that."

A slain musician was honored in Bucks County Saturday night.

A statue of the late Danny DeGennaro was unveiled before a benefit concert at the Bucks County Playhouse in New Hope. DeGennaro was a singer, guitarist and songwriter who was killed during a botched robbery attempt at his Bristol Township home in December of 2011. He was 56-years-old.

During Saturday’s event, musicians who played with DeGennaro over the course of his career performed his music in his honor.

“He’s actually become our local town hero,” said Edward Mero, DeGennaro’s friend. “He went outside the town here into national acts in California and Florida. But he always came back to where his roots were.”

Proceeds from the show will go toward a scholarship in DeGennaro’s name from Bucks County Community College.

A former high school football coach died at the hospital after he and four others were injured during a multi-vehicle crash following a football game, according to the Bucks County Intelligencer.

Charles “Bud” Hollenbach, 89, of Sellersville was with his wife, 84-year-old Margaret Hollenbach Friday night at Central Bucks South High School for the game between Central Bucks and Pennridge.

Charles and Margaret Hollenbach left the game around 9:30 p.m. As Margaret drove a 2012 Ford Fusion in the school’s rear parking lot, she somehow lost control and collided with three other vehicles, according to police.

The impact caused a chain reaction as one of the struck vehicles hit a fifth vehicle which then hit a sixth. Five people, including Hollenbach and his wife, were injured in the crash. All five victims were taken to Abington Hospital.

On Saturday, Charles Hollenbach died from his injuries, according to the Bucks County Intelligencer.

Authorities have two persons of interest in custody in connection with the Sunday morning beating death of a man in Bucks County.

A neighbor spotted a commotion around a white cargo van near a wooded area along Post Road and Pennsylvania Avenue in Morrisville, Pennsylvania around 8:15 a.m. and alerted police, according to officials.

"My officers were here within seconds of the call," said Morrisville Police Chief George McClay.

Authorities said they are still searching for a third man, who may have been involved in the deadly beating.

Police are unsure of a motive at this time but told NBC10 it appears the murder was not random and the victim knew his attackers. They are currently looking through surveillance video for more evidence.
