State police in Chester County are searching for a man who they say attempted to assault an off-duty trooper with a knife.

The incident happened at 3:25 p.m. Tuesday in West Bradford Township.

A spokesperson with the state police barracks in Embreeville says the man attempted to assault the trooper at a roundabout where Stasburg and Romansville roads meet.

The roundabout is just about a mile west of the Pennsylvania State Police Embreeville barracks.

Details about the encounter were not immediately available, but police described the suspect as a man with dark hair and a beard. He was driving a black Chevy pickup truck.

The trooper was not injured.

Bucks DA Says 4 Bombs Could Be Hidden Near Quakertown

As many as four explosive devices could be hidden around the Quakertown area, Bucks County's district attorney says.

Matt Weintraub, the Bucks County DA, put the public on notice Tuesday as a precaution, he said, in case a resident came across one of the devices.

"This is just to caution the public. This is an FYI, not an S.O.S.," Weintraub said.

Authorities are concerned the devices could be in the Milford Square and Revere sections of Upper Bucks County.

"They may not be able to be detonated at all, but they may," the DA told NBC10 Tuesday evening.

The warning comes as prosecutors and federal agents continue to investigate a series of explosions that took place over several months in the greater Quakertown area.

In late June, local and federal authorities including the ATF and FBI arrested David Surman, Jr. on accusations he built and detonated explosives in the Upper Bucks County area. Between April and June, at least 30 explosions were reported by residents. Some left craters on roadsides and in farmlands. Residents were rattled and investigators befuddled for weeks.

Detectives found multiple explosive devices in Surman's Milford Township home when he was taken into custody on June 28. At least one device was large enough to create mass destruction, according to authorities.

The 31-year-old also owned a chemical and solvents business and was, according to authorities, in possession of methamphetamine. His girlfriend, Tina Smith, was charged as an accomplice in the explosive case on early October.

Surman also hit more legal trouble earlier this month when he was charged with possession of child pornography

Surman faces a Nov. 2 formal arraignment in the explosives case.

Some of the seized explosive devices were constructed of small plastic canisters. A larger device was wrapped in electrical tape and had a unhappy face emoji bomb pasted to the side.

Weintraub said there's been no recent reports of explosions in the area, but would not elaborate as to what prompted the alert. He did say there was credible evidence worth speaking out, however.

The warning has definitely gotten the attention of residents like Kevin Willauer, who owns a farm in Milford Township. He's already warned his son to take extra care when riding his dirt bike around the family's land.

And while authorities have not received new reports of explosions, Willauer said he's heard loud booms recently.

"I've definitely heard loud explosions over the past couple of weeks, and was asking family and friends if they heard them as well. I don’t know if it was related to it or not," he said.

Anyone who comes across a suspicious looking device is advised not to touch it and instead back up and dial 911.

Magic the Dog Found Alive 2 Days After Wall Collapsed on Him

A family dog believed to be dead after a brick wall collapsed off of a home in Philadelphia's Kensington neighborhood was found buried alive under rubble two days later.

Sections of a three-story brick wall on Emerald Street collapsed into Jose Gonzalez’s yard Monday.

Gonzalez believed his dog Magic, a 16-year-old American Pit bull Terrier, died in the accident. The family tried digging through the rubble by hand, but couldn't locate Magic.

Then Tuesday, construction workers cleaning up the debris found the canine under bricks. Gonzales said he cried when heard his trusted pet was still here.

"We are all happy about that, that nobody was hurt. That’s was the main thing. But when I found out my dog was here, it was the same thing as somebody getting hurt," Gonzales said Wednesday.

Magic has head trauma and is dehydrated. The family is taking him to a veterinarian for a full examination.

The city's Department of Licenses and Inspections has told renters to stay out of the neighboring building, as they investigate what happened.

Morning commuters beware. A water main break on Girard Avenue in Fishtown forced repair crews to close portions of the busy road Thursday morning.

The crack dumped some 4 million gallons of water onto the street.

Girard was blocked off between Frankford Avenue and Marlborough Street.

SEPTA bus routes along Girard were also affected.

Residents and businesses on the west side of the 100 and 200 blocks of Girard were without water service, according to the Philadelphia Water Department.

Commuters heading east to the Interstate 95 on ramps or exiting from I-95 onto Girard should consider alternate routes.

This story will be updated as new information becomes available.

33-Yr-Old Philly Woman Arrested, Charged in Toddler's Death

A 33-year-old woman was charged Thursday in the death of a toddler whose body was found partially buried in a North Philadelphia park earlier this week, police said.

Nyishia Corbitt is charged with murder, possessing an instrument of crime, falsifying reports, tampering with evidence, obstruction of justice and abuse of a corpse.

The baby, identified as 1-year-old Alina Barnes, was found buried in a shallow grave in Kemble Park in the city's Olney section. The park sits across from Central and Girl's high schools.

Barnes died from suffocation, according to Capt. John Ryan, head of the Philadelphia police homicide unit.

Surveillance video from Oct. 9 showed Corbitt exiting an apartment building near 16th Street and Olney streets with Barnes, who police think was already dead at the time, Ryan said. She took the young girl to a park across the street and then returned sometime later without her.

Barnes' mother is currently jailed in a Montgomery County on retail theft charges, police said.

Corbitt is the girlfriend of Barnes' father, police said. They have two other children together. Corbitt's mother is caring for those kids, Ryan said.

Barnes' father has not been charged at this time.

Philadelphia police said Corbitt told her own mother that Barnes was missing. The older woman then told officers, who used cadaver dog's to find the child's body earlier Oct. 16.

They found her head was partially above ground when officers arrived, police said. She was also fully clothed, wearing a bright pink shirt.

"It's terrible to see a child meet this kind of end," Ryan said.

Police sources said evidence was recovered in an Olney apartment and in another location several blocks away from the crime scene.

CORRECTION: Philadelphia police initially said the toddler's name was Alicia Barnes. This story has been updated to correct her name to Alina Barnes.
