A teen began singing the theme song to the TV show "Cops" as he was arrested following a pursuit through a New Jersey golf course over the weekend.

Hawthorne police tell the Bergen Record that the 16-year-old was driving a stolen Mazda3 when officers gave chase at about 3 a.m. Saturday.

Officers pursued the car through the White Beaches Country Club in Haworth before the teen pulled over on Andover Avenue and tried to flee, according to the Record. He was arrested a short time later.

That's when officers were serenaded by the 16-year-old. He can be heard on dashcam video footage obtained by the Record singing "Bad Boys, bad boys, whatcha gonna do?" as he is cuffed and placed into a police cruiser following a foot chase.

The newspaper obtained the footage through an open records request.

"It was like 'Live PD' right in front of my house. It was phenomenal," said one person who saw the chase's aftermath.

Authorities said they also found burglary tools, cash, debit cards and stolen IDs from residents in Closter and Harrington Park after the arrest. The teen is believed to be behind a string of recent home burglaries in the area.

The Record reports the Newark boy faces charges including eluding, resisting arrest, burglary and receiving stolen property.

Cousin of Teen Killed Inside Her Home Facing Gun Charges

Police arrested the cousin of a 14-year-old girl who was shot and stabbed in her parents’ Bucks County home last week, officials announced Tuesday.

The cousin, 20-year-old Colin Haag, is charged with stealing two guns belonging to the victim’s father. Police consider Haag a suspect, but he has not been charged with homicide at this time, investigators said.

Autumn Bartle died Monday morning, three days after her parents came home to find their teen daughter bloodied and suffering from gunshot and stab wounds.

At the hospital, doctors gave Bartle a slim chance of survival, according to a GoFundMe page that has been created for the family. Her family started planning her funeral while the girl’s life slipped away, according to the fundraising page.

Haag lived with the teen and her parents when she was killed, according to investigators. Several hours after Bartle was first discovered, police found Haag along State Route in Bensalem suffering from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the neck.

He was treated for those wounds and then later arrested.

During their investigation into Haag, police found two guns, a .380 Smith and Wesson Bodyguard pistol and a 9mm Smith and Wesson M&P pistol, that both belonged to Bartle’s father. They had been stored in an upstairs bedroom, according to the dad, who told police he did not give anyone permission to enter his room or take his guns.

Haag is being held on bail at Bucks County Correctional Facility, according to court records. A preliminary hearing in set for April 11.

CBP's New 'Yard' Brings Phils Fans Mini Field, Climbing Wall

The Phillies want to attract more young people to Citizens Bank Park so they have added a climbing wall and a mini field of dreams to the ballpark.

The hope of the family-friendly "The Yard" area where kids can hit Wiffle balls and run the bases on Citizens Bank Phan Field out in right center field (where Bull’s BBQ used to be) and climb the wall featuring Philly skyscrapers, City Hall and the Phanatic itself is to draw families back to Citizens Bank Park.

The team bills The Yard as an "interactive baseball experience that literally gets kids in the game."

John Weber, Phillies' vice president of ticket sales and operations, told NBC10’s news gathering partner The Philadelphia Business Journal that the Phils are hoping to get young people hooked on the ballpark experience so that they become lifelong fans.

The Phillies were set to unveil the 13,000-square-foot centerpiece of their $30-million CBP renovation project to the media on Tuesday night but weather postponed the event. The area should, however, be ready for fans for the home opener on Thursday.

Besides The Yard, the Phillies also revamped CBP’s left field plaza, featuring some Phillies history including Hall of Fame plaques, 6-foot high retired numbers and an 8-foot World Series trophy, reported the business journal. The team also relocated Bull’s to left field and expanded Ashburn Alley.

The team is focused on bringing fans back to the 15-year-old ballpark after seasons of losing baseball following the World Series-winning heyday of Jimmy Rollins, Chase Utley, Ryan Howard and Cole Hamels.

The Phillies ranked 24th in baseball last season while drawing only 24,118 fans per a game, failing to break the 2 million mark in attendance for the third-consecutive season, according to ESPN’s MLB Attendance Report. The Phillies led baseball with 3.57 million fans as recently as 2012.

'Lone Wolf?': Feds Investigating Taiwanese Exchange Student

He quietly built an arsenal in Delaware County. Now, the Department of Homeland Security is helping local officials unravel what led a Taiwanese exchange student to allegedly make terroristic threats against his host high school.

On Tuesday, Upper Darby police turned over a computer, iPad and smartphone belonging to An Tso Sun to Homeland Security for analysis, Upper Darby Police Department Superintendent Michael Chitwood told NBC10.

The federal agency will determine whether Sun’s threats to carry out a shooting at Bonner and Prendergast Catholic High School in Drexel Hill expand beyond local boundaries.

“Is this a lone wolf or is he associated with somebody else?” Chitwood asked. “We’ll have a better idea when we get everything in place.”

Sun remains jailed after being charged last week with making terroristic threats. His parents traveled to the U.S. from Taiwan over the weekend, but declined an interview with NBC10.

Their 18-year-old son has only been in the U.S. for five months, according to police. He threatened to commit a shooting on May 1 at the high school he attended, according to Upper Darby police. Sun later claimed to have been joking.

But investigators this week discovered 1,600 rounds of ammunition for a variety of firearms, including assault rifles and handguns. The ammo and gun parts were bought over the internet since Sun arrived to the United States in August, Chitwood said. He went online on a school-issued iPad at least 20 times to search about guns or to buy ammo and gun parts.

During a search of Sun's bedroom on Tuesday, police recovered other items including a military-style ballistic vest, military-style web gear with pouches to hold ammo clips, a crossbow with scope and seven arrows, a loading dock for rifle clips, 9-mm ammunition and a strangling device, police said.

During the course of the investigation, Chitwood said police found the duffel bag.

Sun, who is in the U.S. on a student visa, legally obtained all of the weaponry, Chitwood said. His mother is a famous opera singer in Taiwan and his father is an actor.

"People in Taiwan are just as shocked as they are here," John Zang, a CTI-TV reporter, said. "His parents are like Brad and Angelina."

Sun's tutor described him as a "kind" teen who "really cared about things."

Family Fights for K9 Dog Taken Away by SEPTA Police

An officer and his family are distraught after their beloved K9 dog was taken away from them by SEPTA Police.

“It’s hard,” Nicole Galanti told NBC10. “It’s like a hole inside of you. And you know that he’s probably not coming back to us.”

Galanti said her husband, SEPTA Transit Police officer Richard Galanti, received a memo from work back on March 23 that they would be transferring him from his K9 unit on April 1. The transfer meant that Officer Galanti could no longer keep his K9 Abal. On Tuesday he brought Abal to a kennel where the dog will stay until a new owner is found.

“There was no warning, no reprimand, no explanation or reason,” Galanti wrote in a petition which had nearly 11,000 signatures as of late Tuesday night. “Only the sudden unjust, unsupported transfer of one of the most experienced k9 handlers in the department and the removal of our beloved working dog Abal.”

SEPTA Police Chief Thomas Nestel released a statement on the dog.

“Abal is a fit and energetic K9 who is trained to work in policing and should have years of good service ahead of him,” Nestel wrote. “Denying a healthy, trained working dog that opportunity would be unfair to the K9 and the Department.”

Galanti told NBC10 they were given only a week’s warning and no option to retire Abal despite his five years spent with them.

“I didn’t think that people could be so mean, trying to take him away from us,” said Galanti’s son Cole while in tears.

Galanti’s petition calls on Chief Nestel to reconsider his position.

“He’s my family and I have to fight for him,” she said.

Galanti said Abal has been with the family through devastating events, including the death of her 14-year-old son, who was killed in a car accident in 2014, and the death of her mother-in-law a week later.

“When they die it’s hard because you love them,” Galanti said. “But to have them taken away it doesn’t make any sense. It really doesn’t make any sense.”

SEPTA Police have not given a reason for Officer Galanti’s sudden transfer. A SEPTA spokeswoman said Abal will have a new handler Friday.

Man Kills Woman Who Was Seeking Paternity Test, Police Say

Police are searching for a man accused of killing a woman who was seeking a paternity test and child support from him.

An arrest warrant has been issued for Bobbie Mitchell Jr., 36, of Pottstown for the murder of Siani Overby, 23.

On Easter Sunday shortly before 2 a.m., Pottstown Police responded to the 300 block of Johnson Street for a report of a woman screaming and shots fired. When they arrived they found Overby dead on the sidewalk suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Investigators say they found a cellphone next to Overby’s body which belonged to Mitchell. The phone showed text messages between Mitchell and Overby less than an hour before her murder, according to officials. Police also say they obtained video surveillance which shows Mitchell chasing after Overby and her screaming and pleading for her life during gunfire.

Overby’s mother told detectives Mitchell is the father of her daughter’s 18-month-old son. She also said her daughter was seeking a paternity test and child support from Mitchell prior to her death.

Mitchell remains on the run and is considered armed and dangerous.

“Bobbie Mitchell possesses a firearm he is not legally permitted to have and has used it to kill,” said Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin R. Steele. “We believe he knows he is being sought for this chilling murder and is on the run –and therefore very dangerous. If anyone sees Mitchell, do not approach him. Call 911.”

If you have any information on Mitchell’s whereabouts, please call the Pottstown Police Department at 610-970-6570 or the Montgomery County Detective Bureau at 610-278-3368.

Nine Philadelphians, several of them city natives who attended local public schools, were appointed to the new Board of Education, Mayor Jim Kenney announced Wednesday.

They include Joyce Wilkerson and Chris McGinley, two former members of the outgoing School Reform Commission. They resigned from the SRC.

Six of the nine members are women. One of the men, Lee Huang, has three adopted children, all of whom attend Philadelphia public schools.

“I am confident that this board is ready for the challenge,” Kenney said. “Their different backgrounds and perspectives will guide them well.”

The other appointees are Julia Danzy, Leticia-Egea-Hinton, Mallory Fix Lopez, Maria McColgan, Angela McIver and Wayne Walker.

Three of the nine are parents of current students in the city public school system.

Kenney reiterated why he pushed strongly for renewed local control of schools after nearly two decades.

"We've been waiting for years for Superman to save us, and Superman doesn't exist," he said.

Wilkerson, who served on the SRC for two years, said the new school board will be an opportunity to have more engagement and bigger conversations about the role of public education. She said of the SRC that its five-member body didn't provide enough diversity of opinions.
