Pa. PP's Disney Princess Abortion Tweet Sparks Controversy

A Pennsylvania Planned Parenthood affiliate responded to criticism they received after posting a controversial tweet stating, “we need a Disney princess who’s had an abortion.”

The tweet, posted on the Planned Parenthood Keystone account Tuesday morning, also stated there should be pro-choice, undocumented immigrant, union worker and transgender Disney princesses as well.

The tweet sparked controversy on social media and Planned Parenthood Keystone later deleted it.

“Today, we joined an ongoing Twitter conversation about the kinds of princesses people want to see in an attempt to make a point about the importance of telling stories that challenge stigma and championing stories that too often don’t get told,” Melissa Reed, the President and CEO of Planned Parenthood Keystone wrote in a released statement. “Upon reflection, we decided that the seriousness of the point we were trying to make was not appropriate for the subject matter or context, and we removed the tweet.”

Reed also described the “critical role” she believes pop culture plays in “educating the public and sparking meaningful conversations around sexual and reproductive health issues and policies, including abortion.”

“We also know that emotionally authentic portrayals of these experiences are still extremely rare — and that’s part of a much bigger lack of honest depictions of certain people’s lives and communities,” Reed wrote.

Planned Parenthood Keystone serves 37 counties in Pennsylvania including Bucks and Lehigh counties.

A town-employed custodian in New Jersey has been accused of tipping off his drug supplier when he noticed law enforcement assembling in a building to execute a narcotics raid, authorities said Tuesday.

Jorge Lopez was authorized to be in the Lakewood building where officers were gathering to move on the search warrant March 16, officials say. He was not authorized to share what he observed, but prosecutors say he dismissed that and immediately told his alleged dealer, the raid target.

Lopez was charged with official misconduct. He was processed on a summons and released pending a future court appearance.

Attorney information wasn't immediately available.

Former "Dance Moms" reality TV star Abby Lee Miller has been transferred from prison to a halfway house as she prepares for her release from custody.

The 51-year-old Miller was originally scheduled for release June 21, but online records now list her release date as May 25. Miller has been in a California prison since turning herself in last July.

Miller was sentenced to a year and a day in prison for hiding $775,500 worth of income and bringing $120,000 in Australian currency to the U.S. without reporting it.

The 51-year-old had filed for bankruptcy after defaulting on a Florida condominium mortgage and a mortgage on her Abby Lee Dance Company studio in Penn Hills, a Pittsburgh suburb.

Her lawyer argued Miller had become "ill-equipped to deal with the brand she became."

A video of a Shake Shack customer praising one of the restaurant's cooks has gone viral on Twitter.

In the video posted Saturday on Twitter, Marcus Jeffers and his friends are seen eating at a Shake Shack in Marlton, New Jersey, when Jeffers suddenly gets up, walks up to the counter, and demands to know who made his burger.

"Hey yo, who made this burger, man?" Jeffers yells across the restaurant.

The restaurant falls silent as Jeffers repeats his question several more times. After some scrambling behind the counter, the chef is identified as Jason.

"Jason, you killin’ it, man!" Jeffers exclaims, prompting surrounding employees and customers to cheer and clap for the burger chef.

As of Tuesday afternoon, the video had been retweeted more than 190,000 times, and the Marlton Shake Shack kitchen team posted a response video introducing "The man, the myth, the legend, the Jason."

The New York City-based fast food chain also appears to have enjoyed the video, responding with a tweet of their own.

Exchange Student Threatens to Shoot Up School, Police Say

An 18-year-old exchange student is accused of threatening to shoot up his Delaware County Catholic high school and investigators allege they found ammunition, a crossbow and military-style equipment in the student's bedroom.

The teen, An Tso Sun, was arrested Wednesday by Upper Darby police. The student from Taiwan threatened to shoot up Bonner & Prendergast Catholic High School, Police Superintendent Michael Chitwood said.

Sun allegedly told another student to not come to school on a certain day because something would happen, Chitwood said. He then allegedly said he was joking but the fellow student reported it anyway to the school, which alerted police.

Investigators went to the home of the host family where Sun is living after the alleged threats were brought to the attention of police Tuesday. They allegedly found a military-style ballistic vest, military-style web gear with pouches to hold ammo clips, a crossbow with scope and seven arrows, a loading dock for rifle clips, 9-mm ammunition and a strangling device in his bedroom, police said.

Investigators have evidence on a school iPad that allegedly shows Sun researched AR-15 and AK-47 firearms. He was possibly trying to purchase a weapon, Chitwood said.

"I can't commend the school enough for doing the right thing," Chitwood said while saying Monsignor Bonner High School and Archbishop Prendergast High School are "safe schools."

Sun has been in the country on a student visa, Chitwood said.

Sun remained jailed Wednesday, unable to post 10 percent of $100,000 bail on terroristic threat charges. Sun's public defender couldn't be reached for comment.

"He's not denying anything he's being accused of," Chitwood said.

Will Philly DA Seek Death Penalty in Slain Officer's Murder?

$

The family of Philadelphia Police Sgt. Robert Wilson III delivered an impassioned plea for capital punishment Wednesday morning after the defense team asked for more time to develop their case.

Lawyers for accused killers Carlton Hipps and Ramone Williams asked for additional time to prepare for trial.

But a campaign promise by Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner puts into question whether the death penalty will be sought.

"Our family is very angry," Wilson's sister, Shakira Wilson-Burroughs, told NBC10. "There's more cooperation between Krasner and the defense attorneys. My brother's case - there is no possible way it can be tried fairly."

A new pretrial hearing was set for June with a two-week jury trial expected to start in November.

Krasner has not said whether his office will seek capital punishment in the case. A spokesman for the DA's office told NBC10 a capital committee has been created and is reviewing the case to determine what sentence will be sought.

Wilson's family is accusing Krasner's office of slowing down the case since he took office earlier this year.

"Capital crime, capital punishment and it goes for both," Wilson's grandmother Connie Wilson told NBC10 last week. "They have all the evidence... they have the gun, they have the murderers, they have the tapes."

Last week, Krasner's office said they are "committed to finding justice for the Wilson family."

Krasner, who ran for office on the promise of not putting more people on death row, has met with Wilson's family and "understands their frustration and continues to extend his support and condolences during this continued difficult time," the DA's office said.

Hipps and Williams, who are brothers, are accused of gunning down Wilson during a robbery attempt at a North Philadelphia GameStop store in March 2015. Wilson was inside the store in full uniform buying his son a gift when two armed robbers entered and announced a holdup.

The officer got into a shootout with the two gunmen, diverting gunfire away from store staff and customers. Wilson was struck six times by gunfire and later died from his injuries.

Williams' family has asked Krasner to turn the case over to the state's attorney general so that the death penalty can be sought.

The brothers remain jailed.

Mystery Shrouds Brutal 'RHONJ' Home Invasion 10 Months Later

$

Nearly a year after an ex-"Real Housewives of New Jersey" star and her millionaire boyfriend were victimized in a brutal weekend home invasion that left both traumatized and injured, officials say the probe remains "active."

No arrests have been made in the May 13 attack on Dina Manzo, 46, and David Cantin, 38, in Holmdel, and the case has been shrouded in mystery. But a spokesman for the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office told NBC 4 New York Wednesday that "the investigation is still active and ongoing at this time."

Few new details have been released since the brazen attack in May. Manzo and Cantin had walked into their home that spring Saturday night to find two masked robbers already inside, sources and officials told News 4 at the time.

The attackers rushed toward them, beating the man with a baseball bat and punching the woman, sources said. The couple was then bound together in the home. The robbers went through the house and stole cash and jewelry before fleeing, prosecutors said. Both victims were treated for facial injures, but were otherwise physically OK, officials said.

"Dina and David are obviously shaken up from the traumatic and violent home invasion and robbery," the pair's attorney Andrew Brettler said in a statement shortly after the attack. "No one should ever have to go through what they did. They are grateful to law enforcement and the other emergency responders and appreciate everyone’s concern and well-wishes."

It wasn't the first home invasion at the home; the previous owners were also targeted. Neighbors said they were concerned they too could become victims.

Bravo hasn't commented on the investigation, but published an article weeks after the home invasion saying Manzo and Cantin had returned to their home in Los Angeles. Manzo appeared on the first two seasons of the reality TV show before leaving the series.

She returned for the sixth season in 2014, then left again. Prior to that she tried to launch her own series about party planning called "Dina's Party" on HGTV; it was canceled after two seasons. Manzo remains close with former co-star Teresa Giudice and is the godmother of her daughter.

Cantin, a New Jersey native, blazed new trails in the car dealership industry with his financial and business acumen and became co-owner of one of the largest dealerships in the world. He was diagnosed with leukemia several years ago and directed philanthropic energies toward battling pediatric cancer.

Anyone with information on the home invasion is asked to contact Detective Eric Hernando of the Holmdel Township Police Department at (732) 946-2820 or Detective Wayne Raynor of the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office at (800) 533-7443.

Son, Granddaughter Charged in Elderly Man's Death

The paramedic who found Albert Weaver Sr. on a hallway floor of his Quakertown home described the 86-year-old man as looking "looking like a skeleton with sking hanging on him."

Weaver was unresponsive that day in November 2016, in a house the paramedic said had the distinct "smell of infection" and was in deplorable condition, according to a criminal complaint by local police, with clothing and garbage strewn on the floor.

When he was brought to the hospital in severely weakened condition, the complaint said, he uttered the words, "Help me."

An infected cold sore at the base of his spine was so deep, doctors told police, that once cleaned out, bone was exposed.

Twelve days later, Weaver died. And now, his son, his granddaughter and their partners are charged with neglect so serious that it contributed to his death, according to the complaint released by the Bucks County District Attorney's office.

The four lived on the same property, in two houses, as Weaver. His granddaughter, Amanda Weaver, and her boyfriend, Anthony Dorney, lived with the man, allegedly with the belief they would inherit the house, police said.

They have been charged along with Weaver's son, Albert Jr. and his wife, Virginia, who lived in the other house along Union Road near Richlandtown.

They are charged with neglect of care for a dependent person and reckless endangerment. Amanda Weaver and Anthony Dorney also face theft charges.

The criminal complaint also alleged that at times, Weaver Sr.'s bank accounts were accessed improperly by some of the defendants. The elderly man suffered from dementia, police said.

Albert Weaver Jr., Amanda Weaver and Anthony Dorney are being held on $500,000 bail, and Virginia Weaver is being held on $750,000 bail.
