Vandals Damage Hundreds of Headstones at Jewish Cemetery: Vandals targeted a Jewish cemetery in the Wissinoming section of Philadelphia, knocking over hundreds of headstones. Police responded to a report of vandalism at Mount Carmel Cemetery on Sunday at 9:40 a.m. When they arrived, they were met by a man who told them three headstones belonging to his relatives were knocked over and damaged, authorities said. Police told NBC10 at least 100 more headstones were knocked over. A rabbi who walked through the cemetery told NBC10 he counted 460 headstones that were toppled or damaged. "This is not just a random act," said Rabbi Shawn Zevit of Mishkan Shalom. "To topple so many headstones clearly is a concerted effort with intent.” No arrests have been made and police have not released information on any suspects. The Anti-Defamation League is offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to an arrest. The Fraternal Order of Police is also offering a $3,000 reward, bringing the total to $13,000.

2 Dover Police Members Killed in Crash: The Dover Police Department is mourning the loss of two of its members after a car crash that occurred early Sunday morning. 22-year-old Patrolman Robert DaFonte, a two-year-veteran of the Dover Police Department, and Cadet James Watts, 22, a 6-month member of the Special Enforcement Cadet Unit died in a vehicle crash around 4:05 a.m. in the area of Hazletville Road and Nault Road, according to the Dover Police Department, The initial investigation into the crash suggested DaFonte was driving a 2016 Jeep Wrangler westbound on Hazlettville Road when he began approaching a sharp right curve and failed to make the turn. The jeep traveled off the road into an embankment and struck a utility pole with the driver’s side door then rolled. The investigation showed Watts was seated in the right front passenger’s seat. Both men were pronounced dead at the scene.

White House to Propose Slashing Agency Budgets: President Donald Trump has no plans to cut Social Security or Medicare, Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin said Sunday. Capitol Hill aides say the White House is moving to propose slashing cuts to longtime Republican targets like the Environmental Protection Agency as it prepares its budget for the upcoming fiscal year. The White House budget office will send agencies proposed levels for the 2018 budget year on Monday, according to the aides. They spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss nonpublic information and a sensitive process. Trump promised $30-$40 billion more for the Department of Defense. That would equal an average cut of somewhere between 5-7 percent to all other domestic appropriations. The president also promised budget increase for Department of Homeland Security and law enforcement. The average cut to all other departments would be near the 10 percent range if he follows through with his promises.

'Moonlight' Wins Best Picture After Announcement Mishap: Barry Jenkins' "Moonlight" — not, as it turned out, "La La Land" — won best picture at the Academy Awards in a historic Oscar upset and an unprecedented fiasco that saw one winner swapped for another while the "La La Land" producers were in mid-speech. Presenters Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway apparently took the wrong envelope — the one for best actress winner Emma Stone — onto the stage. When they realized the mistake, representatives for ballot tabulators PricewaterhousCoopers (PwC) raced onstage to stop the acceptance speech. Host Jimmy Kimmel had come forward to inform the cast that "Moonlight" had indeed won, showing the inside of the envelope as proof. "I knew I would screw this up," said Kimmel, a first-time host. "I promise to never come back."

Main Line Songwriter Wins Oscar: One of the songwriters who won an Academy Award for the modern day musical “La La Land” hails from Montgomery County. Benj Pasek, 31, who grew up in Ardmore, was one of the co-writers behind “City of Stars,” which won Best Original Song at the 2017 Academy Awards. Pasek attended Friends Central School in Wynnewood as a teen. NBC10 interviewed Pasek's drama teacher Terry Guerin as well as his mother Kathy Hirsh-Pasek in January after he won a Golden Globe for "City of Stars.” “I don’t know if I was nervous as much as I was so excited that he even had the opportunity to be acknowledged by his peers for the work that he did,” Pasek's mom said on his Golden Globe win. “How cool was that?” Read more.
