Two men died after their car slammed into a tree with such force that it split the car in two.
The accident happened on Remington Road in Lower Merion, Montgomery County, Pa. last night around 9:45 p.m.
Both the driver of the 2005 Acura TL and his passenger were thrown from car and pronounced dead at the scene.
Police identified the victims as Keith A. Phillips, 25, and Jhamiel Robinson, 22. Both lived in the 600 block of N. 65th Street in Philadelphia, Pa. Police didn't say which man was driving.
The accident left Remington Road closed between Lancaster Avenue and Haverford Road for more than five hours -- finally reopening until 3 a.m.
Police say the cause of the crash appears to be "excessive speed."
When the driver of the Acura lost control, his car hit the large tree first, then went through a fence before slamming into a stone wall.
