Police arrested a homeless man Thursday for shooting at Temple University student outside a house party earlier this month.
Authorities stopped Derek Hancock, 45, while he was on the college's North Philly campus Thursday and took him into custody for allegedly shooting a 19-year-old student in the hip during a robbery attempt along the 1500 block of North 17th Street on Nov. 8.
Police said the teenage victim was standing outside the North Philly house around 1 a.m. when Hancock approached him and said, "Give me everything you got," according to officials.
The student charged at the gunman, who pulled a handgun from his waistband and fired, investigators said.
The victim is recovering. Meanwhile Hancock is facing attempted murder and robbery charges.
