Tires Slashed on 18 Cars Along Del. Street

The search is on for whoever slashed tires on 18 cars in a Newark, Delaware neighborhood.

Police say residents in the Windy Hills development woke up Thursday to find the tires of their cars punctured by a knife.

The suspects hit 18 cars along several streets the night before as rain poured down from the skies, police said.

Residents and police are wondering whether the crime was committed by teens, who had off from school the next day.

I hope that's not the case, because I hope I live in a neighborhood that's not like that," said resident Steve Litterest. He was among those whose tires were ruined.

Residents say if police find teens slashed the tires, they should pay for the damage. If it's adults, they want to see them hauled off to jail.
