Police are looking for five people who they say started an argument that turned into an armed robbery outside of a local Wawa convenience store.
Two customers, a 31-year-old man and a 26-year-old woman, were involved in a verbal altercation with a group of three women and two men inside an East Mount Airy Wawa in the early morning of September 9. The argument moved outside of the store on the 7200 block of Germantown Avenue and that's when the male victim was hit over the head with an unknown object, police said.
With the hit, the victim was knocked to the ground. When he looked up, he saw one of the suspects was holding a gun while another went through the female victim's car taking her cell phone and $300 cash, according to investigators.
The men took off on foot and the three women jumped into a green Ford Explorer with a partial license plate of JHX, police said.
One of the male suspects is said to be between the ages of 25 and 30 and about 5'5' tall with a full beard. He was last seen wearing a black jacket and blue jeans. His male companion is in his early to mid 20s, 5'10' with a goatee. All three women are said to be around 20 years old and between 5'2' and 5'6' tall.
Neither victim was injured in the incident.
Police are asking that anyone with information on the crime or the suspects to call 911.
