Philadelphia’s Point Breeze neighborhood welcomed artists Gogo Morrow and 112 Saturday afternoon for a community appreciation event hosted by councilman Kenyatta Johnson.

Visitors and residents alike waited in anticipation for special guest performances on the 1400 block of Point Breeze Avenue in south Philly.

Preceding the headliners were over a dozen local artists with their own sets of pop, hip-hop and R&B.

Community day is hosted annually in the district to acknowledge local block leaders and community activists that impact daily decisions in the neighborhood.

Point Breeze Avenue is lined with vendors and activists early in the afternoon. Groups like Planned Parenthood and Diversified Community Services handed out fliers and eagerly shook hands with residents.

Small businesses camped out with food and various products lining tables right next to kids’ bouncy bins and clowns on stilts.

The event was geared towards all ages and drew in a massive crowd despite dreary humidity and looming rain.

The party started at noon with local talents Punchliine Kid, Macus Labon, Dyshon Denson, Young Chances, Klaye, Selfless Ministry, Da Union, Brotherly Love, Naima D’Armond, Asia Sparks, Kion Stokes “City,” Lee Mazin and Michael J Woodard.
