Police have made an arrest in a shooting of a homeless woman who was set to testify in court.
On April 10, 2012, 48-year-old Stephanie Warren was beaten unconscious on Boyd Street in Camden. Warren identified her attacker as 31-year-old Allan Mattocks. Mattocks was arrested and charged with kidnapping, aggravated assault and criminal restraint in connection to the assault.
Warren was set to testify against Mattocks during a trial that was scheduled to begin on May 20 of this year. On April 12 however, she was shot in the head behind a vacant home on the 500 block of Rand Street. She was taken to Cooper Hospital where she remains in critical condition. Police say she could be permanently disabled due to the shooting.
Last Wednesday, Mattocks as well as 18-year-old Joshua Sloan, were charged in connection to the shooting. Sloan was arrested that day and charged with kidnapping, attempted murder, witness tampering and other related offenses. He is currently being held at the Camden County Jail on $750,000 bail.
Mattocks is also charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault and other related offenses. Police say he is currently on the loose and considered armed and dangerous.
