Investigators were hard at work this morning after someone stabbed a retired police officer outside his home.
Medics rushed the retired Philadelphia Police officer to Temple University Hospital around 2:30 a.m. Monday after the yet-to-be-identified was found stabbed in the chest behind his home on the 3000 block of Salmon Street in the city’s Port Richmond section.
The victim, who is in his 50s, was apparently alert and talking after the attack. Investigators expect him to fully recover.
The search for his attacker was just beginning Monday morning since the attacker fled the scene before police officers arrived.
The officer’s roommate told NBC10’s Katy Zachry that he was upstairs at the time of the attack and didn’t hear any type of struggle or altercation.
The investigation is ongoing. Detectives spoke to the retired officer at the hospital.
