Members of the Philadelphia Police Department are mourning the death of one of their own. Seth Stellfox, an officer with the 39th District, was killed in a motorcycle crash on the Pennsylvania Turnpike in Cumberland County on Tuesday. Stellfox was off-duty at the time of the accident.
Stellfox, 33, was riding his motorcycle east on the Pennsylvania Turnpike in Lower Mifflin Township around 4:45 p.m. when he somehow lost control. The motorcycle struck a guardrail and Stellfox was ejected. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators say he died from multiple blunt force trauma injuries. They also say he was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident. Pennsylvania State Police continue to investigate.
The Philadelphia Police Department confirmed that Stellfox was an officer. However, they have not yet released an official statement on his death.
