A Hollywood star inspired by his new role lent a helping hand to a local rehab center.
Actor Richard Gere donated an undisclosed amount of money to the Livengrin Foundation, a drug and alcohol rehab center with locations in Philadelphia, Bucks, Montgomery, Delaware and Lehigh counties.
Livengrin Vice President Scott Blacker told the Bucks County Intelligencer that Gere donated the money while researching for the film “Franny,” in which he plays a philanthropist and recovering addict.
Filming for the movie, which currently doesn’t have a release date, took place in Philadelphia.
Gere, who was born in Philadelphia, is known for his hit films "Pretty Woman," "An Officer and a Gentleman" and "Chicago," in which he won a Golden Globe Award for Best Actor.
