After asking for the public's help, a man who was struck and critically hurt late Thursday night in Philadelphia’s Roxborough neighborhood was identified Friday morning.
Following the crash along the 400 block of Domino Lane (near Ridge Avenue) around 10:30 p.m. police were left not only looking for the hit-and-run driver but also trying to identify the "John Doe" left in critical condition with head injuries at Einstein Hospital bed.
Philadelphia Police released a photo of the victim in hopes someone recognized him. The man didn’t have a wallet or identification on him when he was found along the side of Domino Lane.
Just hours after releasing the photo, police announced that they knew who the man is. Investigators did not name the 53-year-old man since he remained hospitalized as the victim of a crime.
It wasn't clear where the man was walking at the time he was struck.
