Politics and pop culture met cute at the White House State Dinner Tuesday night when a fictional vice president found herself seated next to the real vice president.
"Veep" star Julia Louis-Dreyfus posted a picture to her Twitter account featuring herself and a beaming Joe Biden at the dinner in honor of French President Francois Hollande. "That was an unforgettable evening," read the accompanying caption, "Thank u @JoeBiden @BarackObama @MichelleObama"
When asked by a reporter to name her favorite part of the evening Louis-Dreyfus pointed at Biden. "Look who I'm sitting next to," she replied according to USA Today.
With a laugh, Biden interrupted the exchange saying, "Hey, stop screwin' around, she's my date," before quickly adding, "Just kidding!"
Louis-Dreyfus' actual "date" for the evening was her father Gerard Louis-Dreyfus.

It’s not the first time the real and fake vice presidents have met. Last April Louis-Dreyfus stopped by Mr. Biden’s office for lunch and the two were photographed together.
"I came to have lunch with Vice President Joe Biden and I surprised him by sitting at his desk," Louis-Dreyfus said after the first meeting. "So he thought he'd just ask my advice on some various briefs he had to deal with and I was happy to give him my advice which he paid no attention to whatsoever, which is why he's such a wise Vice President."
The State Dinner reunion occured the same week HBO released a teaser trailer for the third season of "Veep" showing the Emmy-winning actor as Vice President Selena Gomez attempting to tackle the big political issues, and an unfortunately placed array of red, white and blue balloons.
"Veep" returns to HBO on April 6. Watch the trailer below:
