Icy roads contributed to a six-car collision in Delaware Thursday that left a baby in critical condition.
Police say around 11 a.m. a Dodge Neon traveling southbound on Capital Train at the Windy Hills Bridge near Newark slid into the path of a northbound sedan, which triggered a pileup that involved four additional vehicles.
The Neon's three passengers, including an 8-month-old girl and a 3-year-old girl, were transported to Christiana Hospital, according to officials.
The baby is listed in critical condition with internal injuries. Both children were restrained in car seats during the accident, according to reports.
Officials say the woman driving the Neon along with a 75-year-old man and a 75-year-old woman involved in the initial accident were was also taken to the Christiana with non-life threatening injuries.
Authorities closed Capital Trail in goth directions for about three hours while the investigation was underway.
No charges have been filed.
