A Gloucester Township police officer is recovering after his gun accidentally went off.
Investigators say the off-duty officer was unloading his personally owned pistol inside his home shortly before 3 a.m. on Sunday on Bromley Drive in Gloucester Township. Suddenly, the gun accidentally discharged.
The officer suffered a minor wound to the hand. Police have not yet revealed whether the officer actually shot himself in the hand or if the force from the discharge caused his injury.
The officer was treated at Cooper University Hospital and later released.
