A high speed chase that led police from Ridley Township to South Philadelphia ended Friday morning when officers captured the missing suspects.
Ridley Township Police say a group of robbers allegedly stole $5,000 worth of power tools from a Home Depot on MacDade Boulevard Wednesday evening before fleeing the scene in a minivan.
The suspects headed northbound on I95. Units from the Ridley Township, Tinicum Township and Philadelphia police departments pursued the alleged criminals, who crashed their vehicle by the sports stadiums in South Philadelphia, according to officials.
Police captured two suspects on Broad Street under I95 late Thursday. A third suspect was taken into custody Friday morning.
A police helicopter circled over FDR Park to assist in the search Wednesday night.
While the alleged robbers were trying to evade police, they hit two vehicles, including a taxi with a husband and wife inside. The couple was not injured.
According to officials, a preliminary investigation indicates a Tinicum officer accidently discharged his gun during the pursuit. No one was struck.
