Independence Day began with deadly violence in Philadelphia.
Police officers found a man bleeding along the 600 block of Perth Place -- about two blocks from the Edgar Allen Poe National Historic Site -- in the city’s Northern Liberties neighborhood around 2:30 Thursday morning.
The victim, who suffered gunshot wounds to the chest, thigh and buttocks, was rushed to Hahnemann University Hospital where he was pronounced dead, according to police.
The man, who possibly was homeless, wasn’t identified.
No suspects were named and the motive for the crime wasn’t released.
