Students Play 'Jews vs. Nazis' Beer Pong

School officials in Princeton, New Jersey, are meeting with high school students and their parents after images of teens playing a version of beer pong apparently named "Jews vs. Nazis" surfaced online.

A photo began circulating on social networks Wednesday night showing the teens pouring what appears to be light beer into plastic cups arranged in the form of a swastika and the Star of David.

Rules of the drinking game, according to the blog Planet Princeton, apparently included a member of the "Jewish" team being able to hide a cup from play, — called an "Anne Frank" — and a "Nazi" being allowed to force an opponent to sit out — called "Auschwitz," the name of the Nazi concentration camp built in Poland during World War II.

Princeton Schools Superintendent Steve Cochrane said in a statement to NBC10 he's deeply upset by the anti-Semitic overtones and underage drinking.

"An incident such as this one, forces us to take a hard look at our efforts in educating our children in the values that may be most important to their success in life," the statement read, in part.

Cochrane said these issues are not new in any school district and that school staff is talking with the students involved in the game and their parents.

"I am hopeful that as school district we can join with parents, with other agencies in our community, and with students themselves to elevate our efforts to prepare our children to be people of character," Cochrane said.

Boy, 9, Accidentally Shoots Himself

A 9-year-old boy was recovering Friday morning after police say he found a gun in his parents' South Philadelphia home and accidentally shot himself.

Police were called to the house on 32nd Street near Dickinson, in the Grays Ferry neighborhood, just before 10 p.m., Chief Inspector Scott Small said. When they arrived, officers learned from family members that the boy found a gun in a front bedroom and accidentally shot himself in the left hand. His mother and other relatives had already taken him to Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.

Police met the boy and his mother at Children's Hospital, Small said, and found that the boy was suffering a gunshot wound to his left ring finger.

Small said that a preliminary investigation indicated that the loaded gun had been hidden behind a bed in the front bedroom of the house. The boy found it and was playing with it when it accidentally discharged, wounding him. He said police found blood on the bed near the gun and a bullet hole in the bedroom wall. No one else was injured in the shooting.

The boy was expected to be OK.

"This could've been a lot worse," Small said. "We're very fortunate."

Small said the boy's accidental shooting should serve as a lesson to adults to store guns safely where children can't access them.

"The fact that a 9-year-old boy was able to get hold of a loaded semiautomatic weapon just goes to show that there wasn't safety used at this house to keep the weapon out of the reach of the child," the chief said. "If anything, have the bullets and the weapon separate."

Small said detectives were interviewing the boy's parents and other relatives who were in the house at the time. It was unclear whether any criminal charges would be filed.

City Avenue Shooting Leaves 1 Dead, 1 Hurt

A barrage of gunfire along City Avenue in Philadelphia's Wynnefield neighborhood left one man dead and another wounded Thursday night, and police may have captured the gunman.

Officers responded to the 5000 block of City Avenue just before 11 p.m. for the report of gunfire. When they arrived, they found a 28-year-old man lying in a parking lot behind some businesses with a gunshot wound to his shoulder, according to Chief Inspector Scott Small.

Police took that man to an area hospital, where he later died.

A short time later, police received word that a second victim from the same shooting, a 30-year-old man, had been brought to Lankenau Medical Center suffering from a gunshot wound to the torso. That man was in stable condition, Small said. Preliminary information indicated that he was walking into the back door of a bar on the block when he was struck by a stray bullet, Small said.

A short time after the shooting, police broadcast a description of the suspect -- a 5-foot-3 man wearing an Adidas jacket -- and a car suspected in the shooting, a small silver vehicle, possibly a Honda. Police in Germantown's 14th District spotted a car matching the description and stopped it, Small said. A man in the car matched the description witnesses provided of the shooter, and police were working to bring witnesses in to see if they could identify the man.

Small said police found ballistic evidence showing that at least seven shots had been fired at the scene. It was unclear what sparked the shooting. Detectives are continuing to investigate.
