A 92-year old Mercer County woman is recovering from an attack in her own home.

Ewing Township Police say they found the elderly woman bound and beaten in the basement of her home along Manor Drive around 10 a.m. Monday.

They believe two masked men ransacked the home for items to steal, then assaulted the victim before tying her up.

“It’s really sad. I guess it can happen in any neighborhood, anywhere. I guess we just have to be very cautious,” neighbor Josephine Prete.

Police are looking for the robbers. This is the second home invasion in Ewing Township this month.

Teen Shot in Back in West Philly

A West Philadelphia shooting left a teen fighting for his life, police said.

"(Doctors) are not certain whether this juvenile is going to survive this gunshot wound," said chief inspector Scott Small.

The 14-year-old boy was shot once in the back just before 9:30 p.m. Tuesday along N Simpson Street near Vine Street, said Small.

Paramedics rushed the boy to Penn Presbyterian Trauma Center where he was last listed in extremely critical condition.

At least eight shots were fired from a semi-automatic weapon, said Small.

It wasn't clear if the boy was targeted or an innocent bystander. The shooter remained on the loose Wednesday morning and a description was not immediately available.

Violence in West Philly continued Tuesday night as gunfire rang out along S Cecil Street near Race Street about a short time later. Police began investigating the shooting after a 26-year-old showed up at Penn Presbyterian Hospital with gunshot wounds to his head, chest and arm.

Doctors preformed surgery on the man who was unable to speak due to his injuries, said police.

Investigators found a blood trail along S Cecil Street as they searched for clues about the shooter.

Surveillance video could help investigators in both separate shootings, said Small.

NJ Transit Twitter Account Hacked

A pro-ISIS Twitter account published a list of New Jersey Transit officers' names and personal information, encouraging supporters to carry out "lone wolf" attacks on them, according to sources and published reports.

The group known as the Caliphate Cyber Army (CCA) first released the personal details of 55 officers in early March after hacking into the NJ Transit police website, Newsweek reported. The newsmagazine saw the list of personal details, which included home addresses, phone numbers, names and ranks.

The Twitter account that linked out to the list has since been suspended, but another tweet referencing the list was sent Monday, sources told NBC 4 New York. It's not clear who sent the tweet.

The original file was uploaded to an Arabic-language file sharing site on March 2 and was downloaded 300 times by March 5, the Daily Mail reports

In a statement, NJ Transit spokeswoman Lisa Torbic said the agency's information system was not compromised, "however some information was breached from an outside vendor."

"The New Jersey Transit Police Department is working with the Department of Homeland Security and the FBI on this matter," she added.

The FBI said it was aware of the situation and providing assistance to the New Jersey Transit Police Department.

Sources told NBC 4 New York they do not believe there is any credible threat.

The hacking attacks have been described as unsophisticated, and experts monitoring the CCA site told Newsweek they show the group has limited technical skill sets.

But, as the quoted expert pointed out, "their activities shine a light on just how vulnerable websites are out there."

Dover Police say a body found in the Chesapeake and Delaware Canal is that of an airman who went missing from Dover Air Force Base more than a month ago.

The department said in a news release Friday that Senior Airman Keifer Huhman's body was found Thursday by a fisherman in the canal along Dutch Neck Road.

The 21-year-old airman was reported missing on Feb. 10 after he failed to report for duty. Huhman's truck was found on the shoulder of the bridge spanning the canal.

The Air Force base commander declared Huhman dead earlier this month, and a memorial service for him was conducted March 11.

Case Goes to Court in Murder, Robbery of Transgender Woman

Charges against a Philadelphia man with a history of violence accused of murdering a transgender woman in October near Philadelphia's Hunting Park were upheld during a preliminary hearing Wednesday.

Murder, conspiracy and robbery charges against Pedro Redding, 24, will proceed to court, a judge ruled during Redding's hearing Wednesday morning. The District Attorney's Office withdrew charges of possession of an instrument of crime and illegal gun possession against Redding, but added the robbery charge Wednesday, according to court documents.

Redding was arrested in October in the brutal killing of Kiesha Jenkins, a 22-year-old transgender woman who was badly beaten and then shot to death at 13th and Wingohocking streets, in the Hunting Park section of North Philadelphia, Oct. 6. A tip led homicide detectives to Redding, whom investigators described as being among a group of "neighborhood individuals" who would go around the Hunting Park neighborhood and rob people. Redding lived in that neighborhood, police said.

Court records show that Redding has prior arrests on charges including robbery and aggravated assault.

Police at the time of Jenkins' murder said they believed Redding and his cohorts suspected people may have been carrying money in the high-prostitution area where Jenkins was killed. They said investigators do not believe Jenkins' killing was a hate crime.

"They rob a lot of different types of individuals. They just so happened that night to [target] Kiesha," Homicide Unit Capt. James Clark said, saying she was targeted at random.

Police said several men attacked Jenkins that night, beating her and later shooting her. Court records do not indicate that anyone has been charged in the crime other than Redding, and it's unclear where police stand in identifying the other individuals involved.

Redding is scheduled to appear in court again April 20 for a formal arraignment.

Center City Turf Club Closes

The Center City Turf Club has been closed for business.

The first of five turf clubs opened by Parx Casino, formerly Philadelphia Parks, was in business since 1988.

The club had never gone under any major renovations, and even still had CRT television sets on the walls instead of opting for new flat screens. It may not have been the most glamorous of establishments, however the club held a sense of nostalgia for those who frequented it for their
fair priced drinks and plenty of racing action. The club was particularly packed on Derby Day, and hundreds of people would often be found gambling on the races.

Arden Properties, who owned the building the club was located in, sold the property to Nightengale Properties in 2004. Parx had reportedly signed a lease for many years in advance, however MSC is now marketing the space for rent.

Four more turf clubs still remain in the Philadelphia area. The South Philadelphia, Northeast, Brandywine and Valley Forge locations are all still in operation.

Suspect in Deadly Rittenhouse Stabbing Over Hat Appears in Court

A man suspected of stabbing a 24-year-old Bucks County man to death at Philadelphia's Rittenhouse Square earlier this month during an argument over a sports cap faced a preliminary hearing Wednesday.

Steven Simminger, of Media, is accused of stabbing Colin McGovern, of Churchville, about 3 a.m. March 13, according to authorities. Investigators said McGovern was walking with friends near 18th Street and Rittenhouse Square when they passed Simminger. The dispute that led to the deadly stabbing is believed to have been started when McGovern poked fun at the New Jersey Devils cap Simminger, 40, was wearing, according to investigators.

The dispute got physical, and Simminger allegedly produced a knife and stabbed McGovern in the torso.

Good Samaritans and the victim's friends rushed to help him, taking off articles of clothing to try to stop the bleeding.

"I took my jacket off, I knelt down beside him, lifted his shirt up and just started putting pressure on what was a stab wound that we saw on his stomach," said Megan Hellander, one of those Samaritans. "And I was just trying to kind of whisper in his ear that the ambulance was coming."

McGovern died a short time later at Hahnemann Hospital.

Simminger, arrested several hours after the killing, was originally thought to be a homeless veteran who frequently stays in Rittenhouse Square, police said.

A source told NBC10 Simminger went to the VA Hospital on Woodland Avenue because he was injured during the fight. Police told NBC10 at the time that they were able to identify him through surveillance video. They also say they found two knives in his possession during the arrest, one of which they believe is the murder weapon.

Simminger faces charges of murder and possession of an instrument of crime. He's scheduled to appear in court again April 20.
