Friends and family held a rally Monday for a teen girl who was struck and killed by a stray bullet while she was on a front porch in Philadelphia over the weekend.

The Philadelphia Anti-Violence Coalition (PAVC) held a press conference and rally on the 300 block of North Salford Street at 6 p.m. Monday in honor of 18-year-old Nadje Steedly.

Steedly was outside on a porch on the 400 block of N. Salford Street around 11:30 p.m. Saturday when at least one gunman opened fire. Steedly was struck in the chest. She was taken to Penn Presbyterian Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Taleah Taylor, a friend of Steedly's and one of the organizers of Monday's rally, told NBC10 she was planning on starting her own business shortly before her death.

"She was a wonderful young girl," Taylor said. "She had a bright future. She was determined to turn her life around. So I was determined to make sure everybody came here and honored her today."

Police say the shooting was sparked by an argument by several men nearby. They have not released a detailed description of any suspects however and no arrests have been made. Taylor urged anyone with information on the shooting to come forward.

"Have the courage to speak up for this young woman," Taylor said. "Somebody have the courage. You can do it anonymously. At least have the courage to speak up for her."

If you have any information on the shooting, please call Philadelphia Police.

Woman Awakens to Masked Invader: Police

Police are searching for a man who they say tied a woman up and stole her ATM card as well as her vehicle while wearing a Halloween mask over the weekend.

The woman told police she was sleeping inside her home on the 100 block of Crestline Road in the Strafford section of Tredyffrin Township shortly before 1 a.m. Saturday. Suddenly the woman woke up and saw an unidentified man in a Halloween mask standing at the foot of her bed, police said.

The robber tied the woman up with duct tape and told her, “Be quiet and you won’t be hurt,” according to investigators. He then allegedly ransacked the woman’s home, finding her ATM card as well as the keys to her vehicle. The woman told police the robber took out a stun gun and forced her to provide the PIN number to her bank card. He then took jewelry and a radio from the home before fleeing in the woman’s vehicle, police said. The suspect drove to a Wells Fargo ATM at the Devon Square Shopping Center less than half a mile away from the woman’s home and used her ATM card, according to investigators. Police released a surveillance photo of the suspect at the ATM.

The woman said she managed to free herself from the duct tape and called 911. Police later found the woman’s unoccupied vehicle at the Strafford Train Station. The suspect is still on the loose however.

The suspect is described as a man standing 5-foot-10 and weighing 180 pounds with broad shoulders. He was also wearing a Halloween mask with a bulbous nose and gloves. If you have any information on his whereabouts, please call the Tredyffrin Township Police Department at 610-644-3221. You can also submit an anonymous tip to Crime Watch at the Tredyffrin Township Police website.

Clinton: Trump Harks Back to Lynch Mobs

Donald Trump is "inciting mob violence" that recalls lynch mobs, Hillary Clinton said Monday evening at an MSNBC townhall, where she also took tough questions on foreign policy and trade.

Clinton told MSNBC's Chris Matthews, who moderated the event in Springfield, Illinois, that she holds Trump responsible for the violence seen in recent days at his rallies, and believes his rhetoric is not only wrong and offensive, but also "dangerous." "He's been building this incitement," she said.

"When you are inciting mob violence, which is what Trump is doing," Clinton said, "there's a lot of memories that people have. They're in the DNA. People remember mob violence that lead to lynching, people remember mob violence that lead to people being shot, being grabbed, being mistreated. And it's something that has a deep, almost psychological resonance to people who have ever been in any position of feeling somewhat fearful, somewhat worried."

Sinkhole Swallows Car in NJ

A water main burst in Hoboken on Monday, turning an intersection into a pond and creating a large sinkhole that swallowed a car.

A 12-inch pipe near First and Clinton streets burst at about 6 a.m., authorities said. Water from the main flooded one block and caused a sinkhole that which engulfed a parked car.

Utility workers spent most of the morning getting the car out of the sinkhole. Once the car was removed, they began trying to repair the broken main.

"I went to get breakfast and on the way back we couldn't see the car so for a little bit we thought they towed it away," said car owner Phil Snyder. " As we got closer we could see the rear end of the car sticking out of the ground."

He said he was regretting parking where he did, just outside his girlfriend's apartment.

"It was a little bit of panic," he said. "We were laughing and freaking out at the same time."

Workers from Suez Water were on the scene.

Residents could experience low or no water pressure, authorities said. Suez has issued a precautionary boil water advisory for people living on the block of 1st Street between Willow Avenue and Clinton Street. The advisory is contained to just that block.

First Street was closed between Willow Avenue and Grand Street while crews worked.

The water main that broke Monday was blocks from a pipe that burst last year and left thousands of residents without water over Thanksgiving weekend

"It's pretty ridiculous, feels like it happens every couple of weeks," said Erica Gaeta of Hoboken.

Main breaks have been a consistent problem in the city, and Suez Water has said that residents should expect them to continue at an average of two per month until the city replaces the 41 miles of aging infrastructure, including some pipes that are more than 100 years old.

The progress has been slow.

"There's obviously major infrastructure problems, no funding," said resident Eric Lampi.

The city's current agreement with Suez Water was made in 1994 under a previous administration, and only allows for about $350,000 a year in repairs. That leaves little left over for infrastructure improvements.

There's eight years left on the contact, and Hoboken Mayor Dawn Zimmer said in a statement Monday, "We have hired financial and engineering experts to evaluate the existing contract and infrastructure and are looking into options to either renegotiate the existing contract or bid out a new contract."

In the meantime, Suez says crews will work diligently to make repairs.

"We have to look at the infrastructure, we have to work together and work accordingly," said Treva Spencer.

Suez told NBC 4 New York in November that $1 million would help make a dent.

A driver slammed into a Chinese fast-food restaurant in a New Jersey town Monday afternoon, but no one was inside was hurt, authorities say.

It's not clear what caused the driver to lose control at the Clark Commons Shopping Center at 1255 Raritan Rd. at about 2 p.m.

The vehicle slammed through the window of the Panda Express restaurant, police said. Part of the storefront was entirely smashed in, and broken glass littered the floor, along with some upended tables and chairs inside, video shows.

No customer inside was hurt. Police said the driver was taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital with minor injuries.

The driver has not been charged but investigation is ongoing.

A Delaware County diner went up in flames overnight forcing guests at an adjacent hotel out of their rooms.

Fire broke out shortly before 3 a.m. Tuesday inside the dining room area of the Grape Leaves Diner along Edgmonth Avenue in Chester, Pennsylvania – the diner sits a short distance from Interstate 95 and is attached to Days Inn Chester Philadelphia Airport.

When crews arrived they found smoke and flames shooting from the roof of the eatery that was formerly known as the Sunrise Diner, which was closed at the time, said firefighters.

Thick smoke filled some of the halls and rooms of the Days Inn causing dozens of guests to be evacuated to the lobby as fire alarms went off.

Thankfully no one was hurt, said Chester Fire Department Chief Joseph Iacono.

"We lucked out," said Iacono. "Somebody had to see it. Luckily they saw it soon enough before it got worse than it is."

The restaurant appeared to be a total loss -- with holes in the roof -- but the hotel wasn't damaged, said firefighters. Guests were allowed back in their rooms around 5:30 a.m.

Fire investigators would spend Tuesday morning searching for clues about what caused the blaze.

A pair of Philadelphia high-rises will be reduced to rubble this weekend as the Philadelphia Housing Authority modernizes one of its complexes.

The PHA plans to implode two of the three Norman Blumberg Development high-rises around 7:15 a.m. Saturday.

The 18-story buildings will come down as the PHA transitions the 8-acre Sharswood/Blumberg community – which currently has around 500 units across three towers and 15 low-rise buildings – into a mix of affordable and market-rate rentals and homes, says the PHA. The buildings date from the 1960s.

The 13-story senior housing building will be rehabilitated as part of the plan that will bring 1,000 homes to the development, said the PHA.

Besides the implosions and rehabbing plans, the $500,000 Choice Neighborhood Initiative (CNI) Planning Grant will also help revitalize the Ridge Avenue commercial corridor and build recreational fields and community gardens.

Police say the three men broke into the Tropicana Bar on the 1500 block of North 29th Street on March 8 between 1:45 a.m. and 12 p.m. The suspects gained entry by breaking a hole in the wall from a vacant building next door, according to investigators.

The suspects stole a juke box, money from the cash registers, a change machine and money from the ATM before fleeing the scene, police said.

Police have not released a detailed description of the suspects but say one of the men was wearing a True Religion hat with the words "Live for Now" on the top.
