As news of the death of former First Lady Nancy Reagan broke on Sunday afternoon, local politicians expressed their admiration for her and their sadness over her passing.

Reagan, 94, died at her home in Bel-Air, Calif. of congestive heart failure, her assistant told the Associated Press.

She was well-known for her advocacy around Alzheimer's disease, which her husband, former President Ronald Reagan, battled for 10 years before his 2004 death.

"Nancy Reagan was the rock behind one of the greatest leaders of our time. She was her husband's greatest source of strength through the toughest decisions he made as president. She embodied grace and poise for generations of Americans," New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, a former Republican presidential candidate, said in a statement on Sunday. "In true Nancy Reagan fashion, she became a crusader in the battle against the disease that ultimately took President Reagan's life, Alzheimer's. It was a great honor for me and Mary Pat to be welcomed by her to the Reagan Library in 2011 and it will be a memory we will always treasure. The nation will truly miss her. Our thoughts and prayers are with the entire Reagan family."

U.S. Sen. Pat Toomey of Pennsylvania tweeted:

"Nancy Reagan was a great First Lady and a wonderful woman. Kris and I send our condolences to her family."

Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf also took to Twitter to express his condolences:

U.S. Rep. Brendan Boyle, of Philadelphia, described Nancy Reagan as her husband's "biggest fan and supporter."

U.S. Sen. Bob Casey tweeted:

"Mourning the loss of former First Lady Nancy Reagan who left an indelible mark on our nation."

Dad Speaks on 1-Year Anniversary of Missing Teen’s Suicide

A Delaware County father spoke out on teen suicide as well as gun safety a year after his son took his own life.

“Today is the one-year anniversary of the day my 13 and ¾ years old son committed suicide. I think about him every day and dream about him many nights,” Farid Naib posted on Facebook. “I don’t have any answers to the questions that I have. My days are full of grief.”

On March 4, 2015, Farid’s son Cayman Naib, went missing after leaving his Newtown Square home without his cellphone. Naib’s mother Becky Naib told NBC10 her son, who attended the Shipley School in Bryn Mawr, had been under pressure to get his school work done. She said the 8th grade student may have feared having to admit he was behind in his work and face the consequences both at home and at school.

"We think his leaving might have been sparked by an email that said he was going to fail a class if he didn't get something in by today," she said.

After a four-day search, Naib’s snow-covered body was found on March 8, 2015 in a shallow section of Darby Creek along his family’s 17-acre property on Harrison Drive in Newtown Square. The medical examiner ruled Naib died from a single gunshot wound to the head. His family also confirmed the shooting was self-inflicted and done with a handgun they owned.

"The cause of death was a self-inflicted gunshot wound to his head. The gun was taken from the home,” a family spokesperson wrote. “The police have informed us that despite being fitted with a trigger lock, the gun was still able to be fired.”

On Friday, a year after his son’s death, Farid Naib spoke on the issue of teen suicides while also wishing he had discussed it with his son.

“Teen impulse suicides do happen,” he wrote. “I have heard numerous stories from other parents in which they have lost a child without any warning. There was no history of depression, there was no prolonged bad spell, there were no warning sign, the child in question was happy. Teens make bad choices some times, and a single event can seem insurmountable to them. For want of a better term I have come to call these impulse suicides. I am not an expert, but I wish I had talked to Cayman about suicide and what a bad idea it is and how no problem is that big.”

He also spoke on the issue of gun safety.

“I do not want to get into a second amendment debate, this is not about the right to own weapons,” he wrote. “My intent is to say that guns in the house of teenagers are a risk, even for a responsible gun owner. My own gun was secured by a trigger guard, I have spoken to another family that had a locked gun cabinet, these methods were ineffective. There are of course other ways for a child to commit suicide, for example Palo Alto has experienced teen suicides from teens jumping in front of trains. However a gun in the home, even a locked gun, makes it much easier for a child to commit suicide. I will continue to work with the Brady group to get this message out to responsible parents who are gun owners.”

Naib ended his message by expressing how much he missed his son.

“I miss Cayman every day,” he wrote. “I miss seeing him turn 14. I will miss seeing him turn 15. I will miss him for the rest of my life.”

A 19-year-old man survived after a gunman shot him several times inside a Philadelphia restaurant, according to police.

Police say the suspect was eating inside the Church's Chicken restaurant on 3600 North Broad Street in Philadelphia at 5:25 p.m. Sunday when he suddenly became enraged, pulled out a gun and opened fire.

A 19-year-old employee was struck multiple times in the shooting. He was taken to Temple University Hospital where he is currently in stable condition. No arrests have been made and a weapon has not yet been recovered.

Investigators have not yet determined what caused the suspect to snap though police say he may have been angry when employees started cleaning tables nearby as he was eating his food. They also say they have surveillance video of the suspect getting off a bus before walking into the restaurant. They believe he is in his late 50s or early 60s.

The shooting happened only 1.5 miles away from where a woman was beaten to death with a hammer shortly before 5 p.m. Police told NBC10 they don't believe the two incidents are related however.

'SNL' Mocks Trump Supporters, Chris Christie

$

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie's seemingly dour, shell-shocked facial expressions during Donald Trump's Super Tuesday victory speech ignited a plethora of meme's on social media.

And though the former Republican presidential candidate has asserted he wasn't being held hostage by the GOP frontrunner, "Saturday Night Live" couldn't help itself from mocking the normally outspoken governor, depicting him as an abductee forced to welcome Trump's brutal insults.

"SNL" alum Darrell Hammond reprised his roll as Trump in the show's cold open, which looked back at the "crazy week in politics" from CNN's election center with the network's host "Jake Tapper," played by cast member Beck Bennett.

“Everyone loves me, I even got this fat piece of crap behind me now,” Hammond’s Trump said, pointing at an obedient Christie, played by Bobby Moynihan. "Isn't that right Chris?"

“Yes, sir. Thank you, sir. Please, sir, may I have another,” Moynihan's terror-stricken Christie says.

Hammond's Trump boasted about running "the best campaign" the media has seen since "Germany in the 1930s," likening the discriminatory tone of Trump's campaign rhetoric to the rise of Adolf Hilter.

"I mean everyone loves me: racists, ugly racists, people who didn't know they were racists," Hammond says.

The sharpest commentary on the 2016 presidential race came in a satirical political ad titled "Voters for Trump" purporting to show what "real Americans" feel about the former "Apprentice" host, characterizing his ardent supporters as white supremacists.

“The media’s been saying pretty negative things about Donald Trump,” the narrator begins as the camera rolls over a suburban American neighborhood. “But what are real Americans saying?”

The ad depicts close-up shots of blue collar folks singing Trump's praises, with Moynihan as a house painter, Vanessa Bayer as a housewife at the ironing board and Aidy Bryant as an office worker.

"He's the only one who's actually creating jobs," Moynihan says.

"He's authentic," Bayer gushes.

But as these "typical" Americans continue to defend their nominee, a wide-angle shot reveals Bayer is ironing a Klu Klux Klan hood, Taran Killan is wearing a Nazi swaztika armband and Moynihan painted the words "White Power" on the side of a house.

“Some of his ideas seem a little out there, but I like that he’s looking towards solutions,” Bryant says as she walks over to her bulletin board, covered with images that include President Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton, and the word "Muslims" across the top.

The spoof came after a week-long campaign by other political comedy shows bashing Trump, including John Oliver’s “Drumpf” campaign on “Last Week Tonight” and “The Daily’s Show's“ tweet-storm about the real-estate mogul being a fascist.

In a break from the political world, host Jonah Hill played a reporter on assignment from a low budget news show called "Inside SoCal."

Hill, who is best known for his supporting roles as comic relief to Leonardo Dicaprio on "The Wolf of Wall Street" or Channing Tatum in "21 Jump Street," plays the lead reporter covering a breaking news story.

And what would be the top story for a low budget news show shot inside a garage? The town's most popular girl is having breast reduction surgery to the horror of all the boys who have dated her, or want to date her.

The Weeknd made a special cameo appearance during musical guest Future's performance .

Two teenagers were killed and a third was critically injured when a vehicle jumped a curb in New Jersey, officials said Sunday.

A 16-year-old and a 17-year-old died at the scene in Union City near the border of North Bergen. Another 17-year-old was brought to the hospital in critical condition, the sheriff's office said.

On Sunday morning, family members and other mourners gathered at the scene of the crash and lit candles. A little boy could be seen crying.

"I could never imagine what both their moms are going through. But to see my son and to see him scream and cry for his best friend. It is heartbreaking," Sylvia Ortiz, of Union City, said.

The vehicle was near the intersection of 26th Street and Kennedy Boulevard when it struck the teens at around 9:30 p.m. Saturday, the Hudson County Sheriff's Office said.

Noel Herrera, 17, and Brian Rodriguez, 16, were killed.

Evelyn Rogers heard the sound of the crash from indoors.

"There was a bang, like something hit," she said, a catch in her voice. When she came outside, she saw the boys lying on the ground, she said.

An arrest has been made, but authorities aren't releasing any more information as of yet.

A rollover crash that left two women hurt snarled traffic along the Schuylkill Expressway (Interstate 76) eastbound Monday morning.

Traffic quickly backed up approaching the crash after the Montgomery Drive Exit as only one lane intermittently got by around 5:50 a.m.

Medics transported two women from the scene with serious injuries -- one was ejected during the crash, said firefighters.

The two-vehicle crash that left a sport utility vehicle on its side and the other vehicle upside down increased drive times by nearly 45 minutes. Crews cleared the crash and reopened lanes around 6:30 a.m. but delays remained.

Martin Luther King and Kelly drives could be used as alternate routes.
