Family, police and community members gathered on Saturday to memorialize a young Philadelphia Police officer killed in the line of duty seven years ago.

Police Officer John Pawlowski, 25, was gunned down at Broad Street and Olney Avenue Feb. 13, 2009. Pawlowski, a five-year veteran, was responding to a dispute between a man and a cabdriver when he was shot to death.

Dozens gathered at the intersection where the officer was killed on Saturday to remember Pawlowski, whose wife was pregnant with his son when he was killed.

Pawlowski's killer, Rasheed Scruggs, already a convicted felon at the time of Pawlowski's killing, was convicted in 2010 of murder and is serving life without parole.

The woman suffered lacerations to her forehead and was treated at Methodist Hospital.

Police described one of the suspects as a tall, thin man with a dark complexion and a goatee. He wore all black at the time of the home-invasion. The second suspect was described as having a muscular build and wearing a dark-blue puffy vest. Both suspects are believed to be in their 20s or 30s.

After 200 Fell Ill, Students Return to Class at Ursinus

Students at Ursinus College are set to return to classes Monday after a widespread stomach illness shut the school's Montgomery County campus down last week.

School officials said Sunday that classes would resume Monday despite more than 10 new reports of illness over the weekend that increased the total number of sickened students to about 200. Officials said most of the students who suffered symptoms reported that they were feeling better within 12 to 24 hours.

It is still unknown whether the sickness was a virus or food poisoning, and school officials said they are continuing to work with health authorities, including the Montgomery County Department of Health, to determine what caused it.

At its height, the outbreak shut down Ursinus' Wismer Hall cafeteria for a short period of time and canceled classes "out of an abundance of caution."

Jefferson University Hospital stepped in to offer Ursinus students free video visits with doctors through Feb. 29 in light of the illness, and the college's Wellness Center is open to work with students, officials said.

Snow, Sleet, Rain to Hit Area This Week

$

NBC10's First Alert weather team is tracking a slight warm-up and a winter storm headed our way Monday that will bring a mixture of snow, sleet and rain.

Timeline for Monday's Snow, Sleet and Rain

11 a.m. to Noon - Snow moves into the area

Noon to 4 p.m. - Snow changes to rain in Southern Delaware and South Jersey. Brief period of sleet or freezing rain during the changeover.

4 p.m. to 8 p.m. - Snow changes to rain in Philadelphia, North and West suburbs. Brief period of sleet or freezing rain during the changeover.

Midnight to 1 a.m. Tuesday - Snow changes to rain in Berks County, Lehigh Valley and the Poconos. Brief period of sleet or freezing rain during the changeover.

1 a.m. to Tuesday afternoon - Moderate to heavy rain across the region

Estimated Snow Totals

Philadelphia/North and West suburbs - 1 to 3 inches

South Jersey/Coastal Delaware - Coating to an inch

Lehigh Valley/Berks County/Poconos - 3 to 6 inches

A storm moving up from the Deep South will bring a lot of moisture here, but also a lot of warm air. That means the storm will change to rain across the entire area.

The first map is for Monday at 7 p.m., and the 2nd one for Tuesday at 7 a.m. The differences in just 12 hours are incredible:

The blue colors are snow-the darker the blue the heavier the snow. So, the storm starts as snow across most of our area Monday, especially in the afternoon. It could be all rain right at the shore. The pink area is sleet, which is possible for a short period Monday night before the change to rain.

The second map shows that the snow has lifted WAAAY north (into New York state!) and west (west of Harrisburg). Most computer models agree with this: it will be raining everywhere in our area for the Tuesday AM rush. That yellow zone is heavy rain. It could be a really wet rush hour.

Right now snow amounts look limited before the change to rain with 1 to 3 inches expected across the area along the I-95 corridor and only a coating to an inch in Delaware and South Jersey Monday. However, in the Lehigh Valley and the Poconos where areas will be even colder, the snow could continue longer with 3 to 6 inches expected.

Before the snow changes over to rain there will also be a brief period of sleet and freezing rain so ice and slick roads will be a concern, especially in the North and West suburbs. Up to .25 inches of ice is possible.

By Monday night, everything will transition to rain for the entire area outside the Poconos and Lehigh Valley. The rain will continue at a heavy rate into Tuesday morning before the wet weather finally clears.

Monday's high will be 34 while Tuesday's high will be 56.

Weekend Cold

Near-record cold gripped the region overnight into Sunday morning, with lows in Philadelphia reaching 5 degrees at one point.

The frigid temperatures did not make it down to the predicted 2 degrees in Philadelphia, which would have broken the city record set in 1979.

Wind chills across the region remained in the negatives into Sunday morning.

A Wind Chill Advisory for the entire area outside the Poconos was in effect until 9 a.m. Sunday with wind chills between -10 and -20 degrees. A Wind Chill Warning was also in effect until 1 p.m. Sunday for Carbon and Monroe counties with wind chills ranging from -20 to -30 degrees.

There were snow showers early Saturday, thanks to the Great Lakes. Strong winds pushed arctic air over the warm, unfrozen waters, which led to Lake-effect snows. When winds are real strong, some of those snow showers can make it all the way to this area. Sometimes they line up in “streets”, where one place can get heavy snow, while no snow falls only a few miles away. In Bethel Township, Lebanon County a snow squall caused a massive pileup Saturday morning,  leaving three people dead and several people injured.

A longtime business in a Philadelphia neighborhood is officially closing its doors. Valentine’s Day marked the finale for Geiger’s Bakery in the Mayfair section of the city.

The family-owned German bakery, which first opened in the 1930s, moved to Frankford Avenue near Unruh in 1979. Since then it has served delicious custom cakes, Danish strudels and pies for almost 40 years. In February the business announced they were finally closing however.

Paul Xavier, a longtime customer, told NBC10 he was sad to see the bakery go.

“It’s such a staple in this community,” Xavier said. “It’s like wow, where do we go now? What do we do now?”

Philadelphia’s Police and Fire Departments got into the Valentine’s Day spirit by professing their love for each other via social media.

Both Twitter accounts posted a perfectly staged picture of a police and fire vehicle next to one another that would make the most photogenic couple feel jealous. But the love fest didn’t end there. They then proceeded to one up each other with romantic compliments and sweet nothings that read like a cross between a Nicholas Sparks novel and a lyric from a Drake song. Check out the funny exchange below:
