A woman was shot during an apparent robbery in Northeast Philadelphia's Wissinoming section early Monday morning.
Police said the victim was on Charles Street near Cheltenham Avenue about 6 a.m. when she was shot in the upper body. She was taken to Aria-Torresdale Hospital for treatment. Her condition was not immediately known.
Police are investigating the shooting.
More than 10 days after he was shot three times in an ambush, Philadelphia Police Officer Jesse Hartnett remained hospitalized on Monday.
Hartnett has already undergone numerous surgeries to repair severe damage caused by the three bullets that tore through his arm the night of Jan. 7. He was in his patrol car at 60th and Spruce streets that night when police say Edward Archer, 30, walked up to the car and opened fire on him at point-blank range in an attempt to assassinate the officer.
Hartnett, 33, a five-year veteran, will need additional surgeries to continue repairing his arm, but is said to be doing well. It's not clear how long he'll remain hospitalized, but Thursday will mark two weeks since the shooting, which kicked off a terror probe after the accused shooter allegedly claimed he did the shooting in the name of Islam.
FBI officials said last week that their investigation concluded that Archer was not part of a terror cell and that there were no indications that additional attacks were imminent.
Archer is charged with attempted murder, illegal-gun possession and related offenses. The gun he used, police said, was a stolen police weapon.
Firefighters battled a building fire in North Philadelphia.

However, the chain's recall affects all sales of raw cashew pieces, the company said in a recall announcement: "Out of an abundance of caution, all lots of Trader Joe’s Raw Cashew Pieces have been removed from store shelves and their sale has been suspended while we investigate this matter."

When 3-year-old Max Levy needed to get a metal disk surgically inserted into his chest to allow easier treatments for his blood disorder, his father struggled with how to tell him the news, NBC News reported.
Then dad got an idea.
"We had just seen the movie 'Iron Man' few days before," said Dan Levy. "I said to him, 'Do you remember the scene where Tony Stark takes the port, takes the arch reactor out of his chest and puts the new one in? ... you're going to get one of those."
"'I get to be Iron Man'" Max responded, according to his father.
And that's when "Iron Max" was born.
When Marvel, the creators of Iron Man, caught wind of Max's story and Zoe's work, which raised $7,000 for CHOP, they reached out to Levy.
Marvel was hoping that other sick children would be encouraged by Max's story too. The comic book that Max appeared in didn't just have a cartoon drawing of him, but his photo was also featured in the back.
A man armed with a knife pushed a woman onto the train tracks at a SEPTA station Sunday morning, according to police.
A 27-year-old woman told police she was standing on the Market-Frankford El Platform at 40th Street Station around 9 a.m. when a man, later identified as 34-year-old Kenneth Grimes, came up from behind her and pushed her. The woman fell onto the train tracks and suffered several cuts and scrapes to her right knee as well as pain in her right shoulder.
Police say Grimes was carrying a large kitchen knife at the time though he didn’t use it during the incident, according to investigators. Grimes was later apprehended by police at 30th Street Station and placed into custody.
Police recovered both parts of a car carrier trailer that was stolen in Lancaster County.
A law enforcement source told NBC10 the vehicle was stolen from the CarMax Superstore in Manheim Township, Pennsylvania.
Police later found the freightliner of the vehicle on Rt. 68 in Mansfield, New Jersey and the trailer in Northeast Philadelphia Monday night, according to the source.
Officials have not yet revealed whether an arrest has been made.
A storm, which could end up being the first major snowfall of this winter, is approaching our area
So far this winter we’ve seen storms due to El Nino but very little snow due to warm temperatures.
Now that an Arctic Blast is in our area this week however, it’s cold enough now for a major snowstorm.
The system hasn’t hit the United States yet. It’s currently offshore over the Pacific Ocean. It’s well-developed however with a tremendous amount of moisture and it’s moving into arctic air. Models so far estimate that the storm moves into our area around 1 p.m. Friday and then becomes widespread by Friday night, lasting into early Saturday afternoon.
The North and West suburbs should see the most snow with the highest accumulations. In the Philadelphia area, the snow may turn to a wintry mix depending on the track and how much warm ocean air gets in. At the Jersey Shore, the snow will likely turn to rain which could limit the snow totals. The big concern for the Shore will be coastal flooding due to the full moon coming up as well as strong winds.
We’ll have more details on timing and snowfall totals as the storm approaches. Read more about the storm HERE and stay with NBC10.com throughout the week for the latest updates.
