A 15-year-old boy is dead after being shot multiple times inside a broken-down town car parked along a North Philadelphia street.
The boy was shot in the chest and head around 7:20 p.m. Friday as he sat in the back of the black Lincoln Town Car along the 2400 block of N. Park Avenue, Philadelphia police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.
Chief Inspector Scott Small tells NBC10 the boy went missing from his Upper Darby, Pennsylvania, home on Wednesday. His family used to live in North Philadelphia.
The boy's father was already at the scene when officers responded to the 911 call. He identified the boy, according to Small.
The town car is broken down and has been parked on the street for some time with a flat tire and tarp-covered window. The inside of the car is littered with vehicle parts.
Crime scene investigators searched the car to see if the weapon used was left inside. The town car was towed to a police garage late Friday.
The boy's parents and the car's owner, who lives on the block, are being questioned at police's Homicide Division. Officers are also looking for surveillance video in the surrounding area.
Detectives didn't immediately know a motive or have a suspect description.

Philadelphia police used the GPS in a stolen cell phone to track down three suspects in a home invasion.
The incident began about 2:45 a.m. Saturday at a home in the 6000 block of Allman Street in West Philadelphia.
Investigators say the victims -- an 18-year-old woman and 19-year-old man -- were sleeping in a second floor bedroom when they were awakened by a loud noise.
The victims told investigators that three masked men claiming to be police entered the bedroom and demanded money.
The man was taken into the front bedroom and tied up with scarves.
The woman was ordered to stand in front of a closet in the middle bedroom while the suspects ransacked the house.
The suspects took the woman’s cell phone after they realized she was trying to conceal it. She was eventually put into the front bedroom with the male victim and had her eyes covered and her legs were tied with a scarf.
The suspects told them to count to one hundred before they ran out.
After the suspects left, the victims were able to break free and call police.
Police used the GPS in the stolen cell phone to track down the suspects and they were arrested at 17th and Sansom Streets in downtown Philadelphia.
The trio was released pending further investigation. So far, no charges have been filed.
A family cat died during a house fire in Delaware County early Saturday morning.
A husband and wife were able to make it out safely.
The fire started about 6 a.m. in the 2200 block of Glen Spring Lane in Broomall.
The intensity of the fire caused the roof of the home to collapse.
A husband and wife who were inside the home when the fire broke out were able to safely escape. Unfortunately, the couple’s cat did not survive.
The homeowner told NBC10 he heard what sounded like animals in the attic about a week ago. The man said he heard the same noise Saturday morning before they discovered the fire in the attic.
Representatives with the Red Cross were assisting the couple.
The cause remains under investigation.
Though Philadelphia has countless extravagant light displays available to the public during the holiday season, one neighborhood comes together every year to bring a little extra cheer to their community.
For years, residents of the Parkwood neighborhood in Northeast Philadelphia have put together a beautiful Christmas lights display at the center of their street. Every December, residents gather and work tirelessly to produce a Christmas spectacle.
Resident Melissa Reichenbach has lived in the neighborhood for 13 years, and said the tradition had been going since long before she moved in. She told NBC10 that last year's setup was uncharacteristically lackluster, and annual visitors to the neighborhood were "annoyed" when they noticed the absence of décor.
This year, Reichenbach took it upon herself to rally the neighbors and make 2015 a year for the books.
She got everyone on the street to contribute $20 to the cause, which would go toward new decorations and supplies for the neighborhood. The men of Parkwood, including Reichenbach's electrician husband, worked all day and night to make this year's display one to remember.
Spectators can be seen driving through the neighborhood at all hours of the day, coming from far and wide to catch a glimpse of the lights in all their glory.
The Newark Police Department held their 2nd annual "Shop With a Cop" event in Delaware Saturday.
The event was held at the Kmart in the College Square Shopping Center in Newark.
Twenty kids from the Newark area were selected to shop with a Newark cop and purchase $100 worth of gifts.
The Newark Police Department thanked Kmart for donating over $2,000 for the event.
It was an early Christmas gift to remember for a New Jersey couple who received a huge helping hand from an off-duty New Jersey State Trooper Friday.
A pregnant Lakewood woman and her husband were driving on the Garden State Parkway on their way to a New Brunswick hospital when she suddenly went into labor shortly before 4 p.m. The husband pulled over to the side of the road at milepost 110 and called 911 for assistance.
At 3:58 p.m., State Police Sergeant Sean Boag, who was on the Parkway and heading home after work, heard the dispatcher’s transmission requesting assistance for the woman. Boag, who happened to be close to where the couple stopped, arrived within minutes of receiving the call and pulled over to help.
Boag then delivered the healthy baby girl at 4:02 p.m.
"[The] mom and baby were transported to Riverview Medical Center in Red Bank where they were last reported as doing well," a New Jersey State police spokesman wrote in a press release. "Sergeant Boag was commended for his quick response and decisive actions, which helped keep everyone safe."
