Dramatic video from a Pennsylvania police officer's dashcam shows him running for cover as a driver opens fire -- aiming right for the officer's head.

Officer Lynn Anderson pulled the driver over on the night of November 22 in Manchester Township, York County. He suspected the man behind the wheel of the 1994 Buick Sedan was driving under the influence.

When Ofc. Anderson asked the driver to get out of the car and to "turn around and put your hands behind your back," the man started shooting.

Anderson ran, rolled to the ground and then shot back.

The officer was not hurt. The gunman took off and may be injured. His car was found the next day with blood inside. He's still on the run.

Police identified the alleged gunman as Trev Bowies Jackson, 24.

Northern York Regional Police Chief Mark Bentzel is asking anyone with information to call 911 or their officers at 717-292-3647.

Officials have released dashcam video of officers arresting a man accused of abducting his 3-year-old daughter after stabbing her mother several times.

Police say Diomedes Valenzuela, 51, stabbed the 31-year-old mother of his child several times at an apartment in the Bronx around 1:45 p.m. Tuesday. He then took his daughter and fled in a 2004 Dodge Caravan, according to investigators.

After an Amber Alert was issued, detectives and State Troopers from the Bloomfield Station located Valenzuela’s vehicle on the Garden State Parkway in Clifton, New Jersey early Tuesday evening, police said. Valenzuela was taken into custody while his daughter was found safe.

On Wednesday police released dashcam video of officers stopping the vehicle, arresting Valenzuela and taking his daughter to safety.

The mother of Valenzuela’s daughter remains hospitalized in critical condition.

Drexel Brings Therapy Dogs to Lower Stress

Finals at Drexel just got a lot less stressful.

Certified therapy dogs stepped in Wednesday, giving students time to relax with the four-legged friends.

Research shows that interaction with pets decreases the level of cortisol, the stress hormone, and increases endorphins, happy hormones, said the university in a new release.

Drexel's department of psychology monitored student stress levels in an effort to track the effectiveness of the “Puppy Pawlooza.” To monitor stress levels, all students took a stress survey before and after playing with the pups.

Although the therapy dogs visited Drexel just for the day, Drexel’s recreation center hosts an on-site therapy dog year-round.

A Philadelphia high school principal is under investigation after he allegedly shoved a student during a confrontation in a school lobby.

Investigators say the incident involved Abdul-Mubdi Muhammad, the principal of John Bartram High School, which is located on South 67th Street.

Investigators say Muhammad told a student who arrived without his uniform Wednesday morning to go home. The two then began to argue in the school lobby, according to officials. During the argument, Muhammad allegedly shoved the student though the teen was not hurt.

Both school administrators and police were notified. Neither Muhammad nor the student were taken into custody however.

Philadelphia Police told NBC10 they are aware of the incident but the Philadelphia School District is handling the investigation. Muhammad, who was in his second year as principal of the school, will be reassigned pending the outcome of the internal investigation, according to school district officials.

Nice Weekend Forecast

$

0

After a couple of days of nothing but clouds, fog, and rain, conditions improved a lot Thursday. Now, we just need to get rid of the wind and boost the temperatures to make the most people happy. And that is just what’s going to happen. Just in time for the weekend.

This is a computer forecast map for Saturday afternoon (other models agree with this).

There’s a nice, big H right over Pennsylvania. That assures us of two things: 1) sunshine and; 2) not much wind. The higher the pressure in the HIGH, if it’s centered near us, the more certain the outcome. And a 1040 central pressure is nice and strong. The Sunday forecast map still shows HIGH pressure dominating, although it’s not quite as strong. This should still be enough to hold off any rain or a big cloud increase.

As for temperatures, they will go well above “normal”, especially by Sunday, when we’re expecting it to top 60 degrees. Much of the Eastern U.S. will be warm for December, as the map below shows (compared to “normal”):

WHAT ABOUT NEXT WEEK…& NEXT WEEKEND…& BEYOND?

After experiencing the 2nd warmest November ever recorded in Philadelphia, December is continuing the trend so far. Through the first 4 days of the month, temperatures are running more than 8 degrees above average. And the pattern shows no sign of major changes any time soon.

Here is predicted pattern around 18,000 feet next Friday, Dec. 11. As we’ve shown before, this type of map shows wind flows along the lines. So start in Philadelphia and see where that line starts. Almost halfway through the month, and our air can still be traced back to the Central Pacific. You can’t get any arctic air from there!

At the same time, look at the lower atmosphere temperature map (below), with readings compared to normal (called “anomalies”). While our area has been in a very mild pattern relatively speaking, there is an exceptional-even record-breaking lack of cold air across the Great Lakes, Upper Midwest, and much of Canada!

The only parts of the country colder than normal are Alaska and part of California. Even if our air could magically start coming down from Canada, it still can’t be very cold. This pattern will take a LONG time to change. In the meantime, we can save on heating bills. But snow lovers will continue to be sorely disappointed.

Family Transforms Home Into Christmas Wonderland

A South Jersey family has once again transformed their home into a Christmas attraction, drawing in friends and strangers each night to see the holiday wonderland.

The Yangello family has been decking out their house in hundreds of lights and decorations for 20 years.

“We haven’t had any competition,” Frank Yangello said, laughing.

The Yangellos start the decoration process in the beginning of October, mostly putting lights on trees and bushes. Then, come November, Frank says they really “pick it up” and start the major decorations. The decorations stay up until January.

Among the decorations is a big-screen television which the Yangellos use to screen holiday shows and movies throughout the month. They say the screen attracts people from all over South Jersey. They begin a movie or show at 5 p.m. and keep it on until 11 p.m. Visitors sometimes give them requests for movies, but the Yangellos say they often just choose random holiday movies or shows.

“We see grandparents, children, with hot chocolate and taking pictures out there in front of the house,” Frank said.

With so many lights, they frequently get asked about their electricity bill, but the Yangellos say they don’t even think about the price.

“People just come around and enjoy it, so we keep doing it,” Frank said.

State police put an entire Montgomery County school district on lockout Friday afternoon.

The Upper Perkiomen School District in Pennsburg posted about the incident on its website.

At this point, the police believe we are safe to dismiss with police presence at regular dismissal time. If something changes in the interim, another communication will be send. Thank you for your understanding."

No word yet on what police were looking for at the time of the lockout.

Bucks Teacher Sends Sexual Videos to Teen Student: DA

A middle school teacher who the Bucks County District Attorney’s Office says exchanged explicit Facebook videos and photos with one of his students over a series of months arrived at court in handcuffs Friday.

Pennridge North Middle School mathematics teacher Joseph Becker admitted to investigators that he carried on an online sexual relationship with a 14-year-old girl who is now a ninth grader, said investigators. The relationship began in July 2015 and lasted through last month, said the DA.

Becker, 30. first emailed the girl while she was his student in May. In July, Becker began to contact the girl daily on Facebook, said a criminal complaint. The Facebook Messenger messages eventually turned sexual and included photos and video, said investigators.

Becker, who hails from Chalfont, admitted to not only sending sexual photos and videos to the girl but also receiving sexually-explicit material back, said investigators.

Investigators said that Becker and the girl also masturbated for each other over Facebook messenger on multiple occasions, said the criminal complaint.

Becker teaches eighth grade math, according to the school’s website. Police arrested him at the school Friday.

Becker, wearing a winter coat and handcuffs, had no comment as he arrived for his arraignment Friday afternoon on child sex abuse, corruption of minors, child pornography and unlawful contact charges.

In court, Becker told the judge that he is a good person who cares deeply about his family and students who made a mistake.

Since Becker works with children, the judge sent Becker to county jail after he was unable to post 10 percent of $250,000 bail Friday.

In court, Becker told the judge that he is a good person who cares deeply about his family and students who made a mistake.

The Perkasie, Pennsylvania-based school district later said it only became aware of the allegations Friday morning but never named the employee in question.

"Early this morning, we were made aware of the fact that police were investigating a situation regarding a Pennridge School District employee," said district superintendent Dr. Jacqueline Rattigan. "Since the investigation is still underway, we are not at liberty to comment further at this time. We will cooperate fully with the authorities."
