Philadelphia police identified a man and woman who were shot to death inside an SUV near a historic mansion in Fairmount Park and referred to their murder as a "crime of passion."

Shakoor Arline, 25, and Lisa Smith, 32, were found with gunshot wounds in their heads inside a white Toyota Sequoia at the park's Lemon Hill Friday afternoon. A maintenance crew found their bodies inside the white Toyota Sequoia parked at the hill, just north of Boathouse Row and yards from the historic Lemon Hill Mansion, about 2:40 p.m. on Friday.

The crew was emptying trash cans at a picnic pavilion just off the 800 block of Lemon Hill Drive when authorities said they noticed the SUV parked in an unusual area near a gazebo and went to investigate.

Police said the two were in the back seat of the SUV with Arizona plates. A back passenger-side window was shattered by gunfire. Arline was naked while Smith was partially dressed, according to investigators.

The victims each suffered several gunshot wounds to the head, police said. During a press conference Monday, investigators revealed the gunman fired nine shots in all at close range and referred to the shooting as a "crime of passion."

"I can tell you from the crime scene it appears to be very much a crime of passion," said Philadelphia Police Captain James Clark. "We've got nine shots fired, all of them head shots, to both of the victims."

While police initially said Arline and Smith were dating, they revealed Monday that the two victims were also in relationships with other people.

"We know that they had a relationship but also they had outside relationships so obviously that's where our investigation is gonna start," Captain Clark said. "Because somebody knew that they were in the park at that time and obviously had an issue with that."

Police say they interviewed an unidentified woman in connection to the shooting but no arrests have been made. They continue to investigate.

Tipsters should contact 215-686-3334 or text a tip to PPD TIP (773847).

Arrest in Hit-and-Run That Killed Boy

An arrest was made in a hit-and-run that claimed the life of a 9-year-old boy only two days before he was set to play with his football team in the championship game.

Royce Atkins, 22, was arrested Monday after he allegedly struck Darius Condash outside a Wawa in Hanover Township and fled the scene.

[[342532021, C]]

Darius, his older cousin, and a friend went to the Wawa near Schoenersville Road and Route 22 around 6:30 p.m. Friday in Hanover Township. Condash bought his favorite candy, Reese's Peanut Butter Cups, from the store. As he was crossing the roadway he dropped one of them and went to pick it up. Suddenly, he was struck by a 2007 Mazda driven by Atkins, police said. Atkins then allegedly fled the scene.

"I went past cars," said Condash's cousin D'Angelo Martinez. "I saw lights and I was praying. I saw him on the floor laying there."

Condash was taken to St. Luke's Hospital in Bethlehem, where he later died from his injuries. An autopsy revealed that he died of blunt-force trauma.

Condash's football team, the East Side Huskies, played in their championship game Sunday, wearing red undershirts in the boy's honor.

Around 10 a.m. Monday, police received a tip reporting Atkins, of Hanover Township, was involved in the crash. Officers arrived at Atkins' home around noon where they found his vehicle which had heavy front-end damage, investigators said.

Police then found Atkins working at his job at a local car dealership. Atkins was taken into custody and allegedly admitted to striking the boy and fleeing the scene.

Atkins is charged with accidents involving personal injury or death and careless driving. Police don't believe he was intoxicated at the time of the crash.

Atkins is currently being held in the Northampton County Prison on $50,000 bail.

WATCH: 6-Year-Old Boy Catches Massive Fish

A 6-year-old boy earned second place in a South Jersey fishing competition as well as Internet fame after he was caught on video reeling in an enormous bass.

Sam Adams, a first-grade student from Pitman, New Jersey, was surf fishing in Long Beach Township Friday when he caught something big on the line. Sam’s grandfather began to record as the boy struggled to bring in a massive striped bass.

“I’m tiring him out!” Sam shouts in the video.

“You’re tiring him out but don’t get cocky,” his grandfather replies.

Finally, after a fight that lasts several minutes, Sam reels in the big catch, a 41-pound, 5-ounce striper. The fish weighed only two pounds less than Sam and was only a quarter-inch shorter than the 47-inch tall boy.

“He did say his arms went numb at one point during the fight,” Sam’s father Scott Adams told NBC10.

The 9-minute clip of the boy’s battle with the bass was posted on YouTube and has been viewed more than 31,000 times so far.

“I’m just thankful my dad video’d it because a lot of people didn’t believe without that video that a kid his size could catch that fish,” Scott Adams said. “It’s just amazing. We go fishing a lot. I’m really proud of him.”

The catch put Sam in second place in the annual LBI Surf Fishing Classic, a tournament which runs through December 6. Sam has been an avid angler since he was 2-years-old.

“I don’t know where you go from here,” Scott Adams said. “A whale maybe. It’s just unbelievable.”

Superintendent Responds to Boy's Bullying Allegations

The Superintendent of the Norristown Area School District is speaking out about a Montgomery County mother's allegation that the district hasn't done enough to help her bullied son.

Dr. Janet Samuels spoke to NBC10 Monday during an off-camera interview less than a week after we spoke to the mother and her 11-year-old son.

The 11-year-old 6th grade student, who we are not identifying, told NBC10 the attacks occurred at the A.D. Eisenhower Middle School in Norristown. The boy said he was physically assaulted by two teens several times, the most recent attack occurring in mid-October when he was jumped on his way home. He has not returned to the school since then.

“I also had to go to the E.R.,” he said. “I got a fractured nose. I also had a nose contusion and my eye was really swollen. The first time I got hit during computer class. The second one they shoved my face into paint. They bit me once."

NBC10 obtained letters the boy’s mother wrote to Dr. Samuels describing the attacks and asking for the boy to be transferred to a different school. Other documents sent to the District were letters from a counselor and the Victims Services Center of Montgomery County informing the District that they were working with the boy.

On Monday Dr. Samuels told NBC10 the District has investigated all of the boy's claims. She also said she received a report stating the boy was bitten after he first put his hand over the face of another student.

Dr. Samuels also said she never received any reports of the boy being shoved into paint after speaking with the child's art teacher. She also claimed she received a different account of what occurred in the computer class compared to what the boy told NBC10.

Dr. Samuels did confirm the boy was punched by a student outside the middle school on Oct. 13. She said a witness saw the attack and it was reported to police. She also said the student who punched him sent him a letter apologizing but the boy hasn't received it since he hasn't returned to school.

Dr. Samuels also confirmed she did write a letter denying the family's request to transfer the boy to a new school, calling it a last resort method. Dr. Samuels told NBC10 that of the school district's 7,169 students, only 109 have been relocated to other schools and none of those cases were due to bullying.

Finally, Dr. Samuels said she has tried several times to personally meet with the boy's family but hasn't heard back from them yet. Dr. Samuels told NBC10 she is trying to get the family to send the boy back to school and truancy proceedings are underway.

Meanwhile, anti-bullying advocates who are working with the boy said they are trying to get him enrolled into a cyber charter school.

Blaze Breaks Out at Recycling Center

Crews had to separate recyclables as they checked to make sure there were no more hot spots left at a recycling center fire early Thursday in Delaware.

A worker at the Gold Medal Environmental plant along the 1000 block of S Heald Street in New Castle called 911 after flames broke out around 3 a.m., said firefighters.

The blaze posed a tough challenge for firefighters.

"The problem with a recycling plant like this is that we have to use heavy equipment inside so we can disperse the recycling materials so we can actually put the fire out... it's very dangerous," said Minquadale Fire Company Chief Joseph Day.

No injuries were reported.

Firefighters contained the fire to just one building. They continued to pull apart recyclables after placing the blaze under control in an attempt to make sure the fire wouldn't reignite.

"We're actually just mopping up, hitting hot spots," said Day.

No word yet on a cause.
