DON’T FALL FOR THE COLD WEATHER TRICK

If you’re still deciding on a costume for yourself or your kids, make sure to pick ones that will allow you to wear layers underneath or will keep you warm. Temperatures during the day will barely get to 60 degrees. The sun sets at 6 p.m. (if you think that’s early just wait until Sunday night) and by that time temperatures will have already fallen into the 50s.

FOR THE BIGGER KIDS …

While you can keep the umbrellas securely in the closet this year, if you’re headed out for a later Halloween night on the town, know this … those dressed in some skimpier Halloween costumes will find themselves out in the cold. By the time the night wraps up, temperatures in Philadelphia will be in the 40s, and if you’re headed out and about Allentown or the rest of the Lehigh Valley, it will be close to 40 by 11 p.m. If you’re really a night owl, and staying out until closing time, temperatures will be in the 30s in the suburbs and low 40s in Philadelphia.

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT

Clocks fall back at 2 a.m. on Sunday, so you get an extra hour of rest to sleep off all of that Halloween candy from the night before. Before going to bed, make sure to change your clocks and, most importantly, check your smoke detector and carbon monoxide detector’s battery levels. Also, it doesn’t hurt to check your outdoor light bulbs as well. The sun will set before 5 p.m. when you get home from work on Monday, and you don’t want to come home to burned out bulbs.
