The "Miss Fancy" Brigade - an LGBT group comprised of the leading female impersonators in Philadelphia - announced an expansion for the upcoming New Year's parade.

Drag Kings, who are women dressed up as men, will be marching down Broad Street along with the brigade's Drag Queens who participated in the celebration for the first time in 2013.

To celebrate the addition - a move that includes more members of the LGBT community - the "Miss Fancy" Brigade popped parasols full of glitter and a string band played at The Mummers Museum Tuesday morning.

"It is great thing when all the people of Philadelphia are included in the city's traditions," said Equality Pennsylvania's Communications Director Levana Layendecker.

Last year 10 members performed as part of the "Miss Fancy" Brigade. Each female impersonator introduced a troop from the Fancy Brigades Division, which presents an elaborate theatrical performance to cap-off the parade.

This year's brigade will include Brittany Lynn, City Councilman Mark Squilla, Director of Tourism Scott Brown and Vice President of the Fancy Brigade Association Bill Burke, Jr.

The 114th Annual Mummers Parade will begin on New Year's Day at 9:30 a.m. and take place North on Broad Street to LOVE Park(16th and JFK Boulevard).

Aside from 11 fancy brigades, the parade will include three comic clubs, two fancy division units, 17 string bands and eight wench brigades.

For more information on the parade, visit the Mummers website.

Three big rigs and one car collided this morning along one of the area’s busiest highways backing up traffic through the morning rush.

The total delay in Bucks County took nearly seven hours to clear.

The vehicles collided along the eastbound lanes of the Pennsylvania Turnpike approaching the Street Road (No. 352) Exit around 6 a.m.

SkyForce10 quickly got to the scene.

The force of the wreck pushed the barricade into part of the westbound lanes.

All traffic was stopped behind the wreck in the eastbound lanes and only one lane got by in the westbound direction for about an hour until those lanes were also closed temporarily to clear some debris before being opened again.

Police diverted cars at Exit 351 (Bensalem) leading up to the wreck.

One of the tractor-trailer drivers was temporarily trapped in the cab but was conscious and alert, according to state police.

Police said they expected the roadway to be closed until at least 11 a.m. It would take nearly another two hours for all lanes to be opened around 12:50 p.m.

A big change for the Montgomery County Sheriff's Department.

The law enforcement agency announced Friday that Sheriff Eileen Whalon Behr will be stepping down after more than two years of service for a position as Director of Police Operations with Drexel University.

"Accepting this position with such a prestigious university in the city will allow me to get back to what is very close to my heart, which is working closely with the community," Behr said in a news release.

She called the decision to resign a difficult one. Behr was the first female to serve as sheriff and chief of police in the suburban Philadelphia county.  She previously served as Whitemarsh Township's Chief of Police.

A MCSD spokeswoman says Chief Deputy Sheriff Alfred J. Ricci will likely take over Behr's duties while the county searches for her replacement.

A university spokeswoman declined to confirm the move, but said the school plans to make an announcement about the position in January.

The move comes as Drexel University continues to build its presence in West Philly.

"I love working with and mentoring young people, and coming up with new solutions to improve neighborhoods," she said.

Police allege 53-year-old Gregory Noonan of Lansdale sold the undercover officer nearly 400 oxycodone pills at $15 apiece while sitting in his Jaguar parked outside his Norristown law office.

Montgomery County District Attorney Risa Vetri Ferman said Noonan was charged Thursday with multiple drug-related counts, including a charge of selling drugs within 1,000 feet of an elementary school.

Prosecutors said Noonan was being held at the county prison after failing to post $250,000 cash bail. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for Jan. 3.

Noonan recently represented a doctor who was charged with prescribing Oxycodone to drug addicts and related crimes. The doctor was found guilty on Nov. 22.

A man accidentally shot himself while riding a SEPTA bus Wednesday night.

As the K bus traveled southbound on Chelten Avenue near Magnolia Street in Germantown, a passenger shot himself, possibly in the hand, according to officials.

Surveillance video shows a man wearing a green jacket and white ear buds adjusting a gun in his waistband before the weapon accidently discharged.

He then ran off the bus.

Authorities believe the man, who has not yet sought treatment for any injuries, may be under 21 years old and carrying the gun illegally.

"We don't like people carrying firearms illegally on the transit system," said SEPTA Transit Police Chief Thomas Nestel.  "We really don't like people firing firearms on the transit system."

"So it's important to us that we find this fella and advise him of his mistake," he said.

Investigators say the driver reported the incident at the end of the route at Ridge Avenue and Ferry Road in East Falls.  No other passengers were hurt.

Police are asking for help locating the injured man.
