Beer Delivery by Drone During Pope’s Philly Visit?

Have no fear fans of beer!

An iconic bar is letting its patrons know that during the Pope’s time in Philadelphia, they will get you your favorite adult beverage whether it’s by land or air.

McGillin’s Olde Ale House, located at 1310 Drury Street in downtown Philadelphia, falls in the “traffic box” being instituted for Pope Francis’ visit to Philadelphia the last weekend of September.

The basic premise of the traffic box, which goes into effect Friday, September 25, is that private vehicles cannot enter once it goes into effect. Cars can exit the box, but they can’t return.

McGillian’s told NBC10 they plan to remain open during the Pope’s time in Philly and they are willing to do everything they can to make sure their loyal customers stay hydrated.

While it seems like great customer service, McGillin’s may run into problems being that drones in the Philadelphia area have been banned by the FAA while the Pope is in town.

In addition, McGillin’s plans on serving some interesting Pope-related dishes during the World Meeting of Families.

Bruce Jackson has always been there for the students and athletes of Eastern Regional High School in Voorhees, New Jersey.

Now, those affiliated with the school want to return the favor and help out the school’s "#1 fan."

Jackson has Cerebral Palsy and needs a wheelchair, which has an alphabet keyboard attached to it, to get around.

It is Jackson’s daily routine to visit the students and faculty at Eastern Regional High.

According to Gary Worthington, a teacher at Eastern, Jackson “can be seen on his wheelchair on every athletic field, court, stage and at every practice, game, rehearsal rain or shine.”

Unfortunately, Jackson’s wheelchair is breaking down and the limited financial assistance he receives does not cover repair costs.

Without his chair, Worthington wrote that Jackson would be confined to his bed at the Voorhees Rehabilitation facility and Worthington doesn’t want to see that happen.

So, Worthington created a GoFundMe page for Jackson and is calling on the Eastern Regional High School community to turn the dream of a new wheelchair for Jackson into a reality.

If you would like to donate, you can visit the GoFundMe page right here.

Thousands of people joined superstar comedian Kevin Hart for a 5K run in Philadelphia Saturday morning.

Hart, a Philly native, teamed up with Nike+ Run Club to organize the race, which began at the Philadelphia Museum of Art at 8:04 a.m. and ended there. Prior to his hometown, the comedian held 5K runs in seven other cities, including New York and Houston.

Comedian J.B. Smoove and 76ers rookie Jahlil Okafor were among the participants Saturday.

Hart claimed that nearly 4500 people came out for the event, which was open to runners of all speeds and paces.

“When I first started doing these spontaneous 5K runs it was just something I was doing authentically through social media,” Hart told NBC10’s Monique Braxton. “Nike got wind of it and Nike was like, ‘What you’re doing is amazing. You’re motivating people, you’re pushing people to do better, to simply be the best version of themselves that they possibly can.’”

“When it comes to physical fitness and health I think that’s something that I’ve really adapted to and that’s something that I take serious now,” he said. “We’re simply in the business of making people understand and grasp the concept of taking care of yourself. “

Hart finished the race in a little under 22 minutes. He congratulated and high-fived runners as they finished at the Rocky steps.

Hart will perform Sunday at Lincoln Financial Field as part of his “What Now” comedy tour.

A Delaware County police officer saved Sunday morning by his bulletproof vest may be released from the hospital later Sunday, officials said.

Ridley Park Police Officer Marc Hanly is hospitalized in good condition after police say a suspect shot him twice -- once in the vest and once in the leg -- early Sunday. Authorities are crediting his vest with saving his life.

Hanly and his partner were called to Mohawk Avenue near Summit, in Norwood, about 1 a.m. for the report of a suicidal man, authorities said. When the officers arrived, they spoke with the man, but police say when they tried to go in the house, the man shut the door and fired two shots at them.

Hanly was hit twice. The officers returned fire and struck the suspect in the elbow, police said. They called for backup, and SWAT officers responded, leading to a standoff.

The man surrendered after about an hour and was taken into custody without further incident, authorities said. He was taken to Taylor Hospital to be treated for his gunshot wound. He has not been identified.

Hanly was taken to Crozer Regional Trauma Center, where he was recovering Sunday morning. He is expected to be OK, authorities said, and may be released from the hospital as early at Sunday afternoon or evening.

There was no word yet on charges for the alleged gunman, who was still being treated at the hospital.
