It took a man almost 45 minutes to use a slingshot to get inside an area business.

Surveillance cameras captured the man early Wednesday breaking into the Palm Tree Market on Cresson Street in the Manayunk section of Philadelphia.

It took him a while.

Philadelphia Police released video Friday that shows the man -- wearing a hoodie and baggy blue jeans -- clumsily fumbling with a slingshot as he stands in the vestibule leading to the store around 5 a.m.

For 45 minutes the man stands there before finally breaking the glass and getting inside, according to police.

Once inside you see the man, wearing gloves, clean out the cash register and take a handful of items before leaving the store. The man wound up swiping $120 in loose change, some Dutch Masters cigars and various other items from the store, according to police.

Police described him a medium-built male.

Comcast Spectacor has agreed to pay $625,500 in vouchers to Philadelphia Flyers season ticket holders.

The agreement settles a class-action lawsuit filed against the company by the ticket holders who said the team improperly excluded tickets from the 2012 Winter Classic from season ticket packages and required fans to pay more for the outdoor hockey game.

Under the terms of the settlement, the class members will have the option of receiving a $45 concession voucher or an alternative voucher, valued at $75, that will enable them to get an on-ice holiday photo or a personalized message on the scoreboard during a Flyers game at the Wells Fargo Center and on the Xfinity Live board after the game. A high speed chase that led police from Ridley Township to South Philadelphia ended Friday morning when officers captured the missing suspects.

Ridley Township Police say a group of robbers allegedly stole $5,000 worth of power tools from a Home Depot on MacDade Boulevard Wednesday evening before fleeing the scene in a minivan.

The suspects headed northbound on I95.  Units from the Ridley Township, Tinicum Township and Philadelphia police departments pursued the alleged criminals, who crashed their vehicle by the sports stadiums in South Philadelphia, according to officials.

Police captured two suspects on Broad Street under I95 late Thursday.  A third suspect was taken into custody Friday morning.

A police helicopter circled over FDR Park to assist in the search Wednesday night.

While the alleged robbers were trying to evade police, they hit two vehicles, including a taxi with a husband and wife inside.  The couple was not injured.

According to officials, a preliminary investigation indicates a Tinicum officer accidently discharged his gun during the pursuit.  No one was struck.

Ex-Tennis Coach Charged

A tennis coach at a Main Line Catholic School turned himself in to authorities Friday.

Charles Meredith, 52, was formally charged with corruption of a minor stemming from allegations he had inappropriate contact with one of his players at the all-girls Sacred Heart Day School in Bryn Mawr, Pa.

Officials say the former tennis coach sent sexually inappropriate text messages to the 15-year-old victim. Meredith allegedly drove the same girl to a gym in Plymouth Township, kissed her and bought her ice cream before telling her not to mention the incident to anyone.

Authorities say that the inappropriate contact took place between August and October.

But James Freeman, an attorney for Meredith, says the allegations are false.  Meredith did not send any text messages to the victim and no emails between the two exist either, Freeman said.

Meredith was fired from his coaching position in October when the allegations arose.

At that time Meredith said that the all-girls Catholic school in Bryn Mawr, Pa. fired him, but denied any knowledge of the accusations.

He told NBC10 he had no idea why he was fired. "It's an at-will state," he said.

A photo of Will Smith and Justin Bieber notched nearly 1.5 million likes in 2013 to earn Instagram's photo of the year honors, company CEO Kevin Systrom revealed on "Today" on Friday.

Systrom said the photo's success had a lot to do with 12 million-plus followers. While selfies are still in vogue, the photo of the pop star and the "Fresh Prince" worked because it was a fun moment that Beliebers appreciated, Systrom said.

"It seemed like they were having fun," he said.

The Instagram CEO also revealed the year's top hashtag is #Love, but said #ThrowbackThursday and #Food were in "a close second and third."

Systrom also discussed a new "Instagram Direct" feature on the photo-sharing website that allows users to share photos and video with a select number of followers rather than on their main page.

A stop for gas ended that ended in a carjacking for a city cabdriver earlier this week ended in arrest for the accused thief.

Philadelphia Police announced the arrest of Albert Washington Friday morning.

Washington, 22, is accused of carjacking an unidentified 41-year-old All City Taxi driver who was stopping for gas at the Hess station at Broad and Bainbridge Streets just a short distance from Philadelphia’s Avenue of the Arts around 2:15 a.m. Wednesday.

According to police, as the cabbie got out of his car, Washington pushed him away, jumped into the cab and drove off -- sideswiping a gas pump as he drove north on Broad Street.

Luckily the cabbie wasn’t hurt but the damage would be done to property at the end of the alleged carjacker’s nearly 7-mile drive across the city.Albert Washington, 22, is accused of carjacking a city taxi.

An officer on duty spotted a cab matching the description of the stolen vehicle running a stop sign north on 56th Street near Lebanon Avenue -- nearly striking the police cruiser.

As the officer gave chase, the stolen cab turned down a driveway on the 5400 block of Diamond Street in the Overbrook section of the city, according to Philadelphia Police.

The officer pursued the cab as it ran multiple traffic lights before crashing the cab into a parked SUV and a tree before coming to a rest against a fence along the snow-covered street along the 5600 block of Diamond Street.

Police say after the wreck, Anderson hopped out of the cab and ran off toward Malvern Avenue.

Police were able to identify the suspect as Washington and they arrest him Thursday at his home on the 5800 block of Malvern Avenue.

Washington faces carjacking, fleeing police and related counts.

Ice Falls From Truck, Ambulance Hit

One local ambulance unit narrowly missed a disaster Friday morning thanks to the quick thinking of the driver.

A Central Bucks Ambulance and Rescue Unit was heading northbound on York Road in Buckingham when a chunk of ice struck the windshield.

"It was scary," said Scott Henley, deputy chief paramedic who was driving the ambulance. "Luckily I saw it coming and I was able to at least have a couple seconds to figure something out."

The ice hit the windshield at 11:37 a.m. when a tree-trimming truck covered in snow passed the unit heading southbound, he said.

Henley and his partner, Stephanie D'Andrea, were transporting a patient when the accident occurred. The damage forced Henley to pull the unit over and wait for a second ambulance to arrive to to continue the transport.

"Luckily the patient wasn't in any severe distress," he said.

Henley says his first thought was to protect himself and the other passengers when he saw the "substantial" ice chunk flying towards him.  One arm blocked his head and face, he says, while his other hand remained on the wheel.

Central Bucks Ambulance and Rescue Unit Chief Chuck Pressler says the pair handled themselves well.  "They didn't panic," he said. "They didn't swerve, slam on the brakes or anything."

The medics reported the incident to police, who have not yet located the vehicle, said Henley, who added the truck driver is likely unaware that the ice fell.

The accident comes just days after the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission issued a reminder to drivers to clear snow and ice from their cars.

"We urge all motorists to clear snow and ice from their vehicles, not only for their safety, but for the safety of everone traveling Pennsylvania roadways," said PTC Chief Operating Officer Craig Shuey.

If any snow or ice falls from a vehicle and causes injury or death to other drivers or pedestrians, the motorist can face fines ranging from $200 to $1,000 for each offense.  Motorists are not liable for snow that collects on their vehicle while driving.

The Central Bucks Ambulance unit is out of service until the cracked windshield can be repaired, Pressler said.

Sandy Fam's Vandalized Home Saved

Good Samaritans rallied to help a Staten Island family whose Sandy-ravaged home was again destroyed by vandals just days before the family was set to move back in.

Nancy Fisher and Ruben Vazquez's Midland Beach home of over 35 years was destroyed in the October 2012 storm, and the couple and their children had been staying with friends for the past 14 months. During that time, Vazquez would work his day job then return to his Staten Island house each night to make repairs and rebuild.

The family was finally days away from moving back in when vandals broke in on Thursday. They had ransacked the living room, shattering glass, smashing holes in the new drywall and busting up the new refrigerator. They left beer cans, urinated on the floor and even destroyed the lone ornament on the family's Charlie Brown Christmas tree.

"I saw everything was devastated and I just broke down,"  Fisher said.

When NBC 4 New York viewers saw the family's story Thursday night, they were inspired to wake up early Friday and help.

"My neighbor called me and he said some guy was here," said a stunned Fisher. "He drove like 100 miles to come down and see me and give me gifts."

Another woman brought the family a new Charlie Brown Christmas tree, which has come to symbolize their new beginning post- Sandy.

"Someone bring back my new beginning and it's going to be better than ever," said Fisher. "I believe that. I believe in people and I believe good things are going to happen."

Ross Decker of Yellow Boots, a non-profit group in Staten island, committed to bring in an army of volunteers Saturday to help the family not only get back on track but to move in ahead of schedule.

"We just kind of sprung into action, made some phone calls," he said. "We're shocked to see that anyone would do something so horrible and vile as this."

"Ruben did a great job putting together patches for a lot of the holes, but there's still a bit of work that needs to be done, and that poor guy needs a break. He's been up all night repairing his house," he added.

For Fisher, the heartbreaking destruction by a few has been outshadowed by the hugs, smiles, laughter and kindness of so many.

"Some people are rotten out there, but there are so many good people out there, they beat out the rotten people," she said. "We'll come back stronger, like we did with Sandy."
