Philadelphia Police searched for two men after a woman got shot in the face after answering the door early Monday.

Gunfire rang out shortly after 4 a.m. along the 4100 block of Franklin Street in the Hunting Park section of the city.

“We had a woman open the door to her house and she was shot point-blank in the face,” Said Philadelphia Police Capt. Drew Techner.

Police rushed the woman, who is in the early 20s, to Temple University Hospital where police hoped she could pull through considering she was struck with a small-caliber round.

Classmates of a South Jersey high school football player seriously hurt in a hit-and-run crash will show their support for the teenager Monday.

Students at Pennsville Memorial High School plan to wear blue Monday as they keep junior Kyle Pszenny in their thoughts..

A Hyundai Elantra struck the 17-year-old as he rode home from his girlfriend's house on a skateboard in the northbound lanes of Hook Road near Lee Avenue in Pennsville, Salem County around 1:50 a.m. Sunday, said Pennsville Police Chief Allen Cummings.

A witness, who did not want to be identified, told NBC10 he believes the driver knew he or she struck someone.

"It's lit up all over there," the witness said. "As soon as they hit him they were right back on the gas and gone. I think it's terrible."

Medics rushed Pszenny to Christiana Hospital where he was treated in the intensive care unit with serious head injuries, said Cummings.

"Kyle went through a three to four hour surgery this morning for swelling of the brain," Cummings said. "I believe he has a broken neck, some vertebrae in his neck are broken. He has leg injuries."

Pszenny is a football player for Pennsville. Last season he caught 42 passes for the Eagles, according to NJ.com.

Sunday afternoon, Pennsville Memorial High School Athletics updated the teen's condition in a statement that thanks everyone for "the outpouring of support and prayers."

Drew Burdsall, a Pennsville football player, spoke to NBC10 about his teammate's toughness.

"He's just a tough kid," Burdsall said. "He's never scared to go in on the hit. That's just how he is. He's a fierce competitor."

Pszenny's mother, Crystal Parks thanked everyone who has supported her son.

"We'd like to thank Pennsville for their support for Kyle," she said. "We want to let you know that he's in critical condition... We thank everybody. And Kyle strong."

Anyone with information on this incident is asked to contact Pennsville Police.

Judge Sets $2M Bail for South Philadelphia Sex-Assault Suspect

A 32-year-old South Philadelphia man is facing charges of breaking into houses blocks from his own and sexually assaulting women inside in March and May.

Police said they arrested Raheem Felder, of Chadwick Street near Wharton in South Philadelphia, on Thursday after detectives received an anonymous tip call May 28 from a TV news viewer who recognized him in surveillance video in a May 25 attack released by police.

Felder is charged with aggravated assault, rape, sexual assault, burglary, robbery, unlawful restraint, indecent exposure, simple assault, reckless endangerment and false imprisonment, according to police. He is accused of twice breaking into homes in his neighborhood and sexually assaulting women inside.

In the more recent attack with which Felder is charged, police said a 35-year-old woman was awoken by a stranger standing over her bed about 5:30 a.m. May 25 as she slept in her house on Rosewood Street near Moore. The man, police said, covered the woman's mouth with his hand and demanded money. He then sexually assaulted her and stole $10, along with her car and house keys, police said.

Felder is also charged in a March 26 incident in which police said a 30-year-old woman was awoken by an unknown man about 3 a.m. inside a house on Chadwick Street near Morris. In that attack, the man forced the woman into the middle bedroom and demanded that she give him money, police said. When the victim told him she had no money, he attempted to sexually assault her before leaving the house and fleeing, according to police.

Court records show that Felder, who was released from prison in November 2013 after being convicted of aggravated assault and attempted murder in connection with a 2001 shooting, was arraigned on Friday. A judge set his bail at $2 million -- $1 million for each attack -- and he is scheduled to appear in court for a status hearing July 10.

Council Hears Shane Montgomery Camera Bill

City Council on Monday held a public hearing on a bill inspired by Shane Montgomery, the Philadelphia college student found dead more than a month after he went missing when he left a bar early Thanksgiving morning. The measure, introduced by Councilman Curtis Jones Jr., would require bars and any other establishments serving alcohol to install surveillance cameras.

Montgomery, 21, a West Chester University student and native of Roxborough, went missing just before 2 a.m. on Thanksgiving after he left Kildare's Irish Pub on Main Street in Manayunk, where he'd been hanging out with friends. His body was found 36 days later in the Schuylkill.

Surveillance video showing Montgomery, captured by a camera outside a nail salon not far from Kildare's, was not tracked down until Dec. 11 -- two weeks after he went missing. Jones has said that although cameras immediately outside the bar may not have saved the young man, they could have potentially shortened the painfully lengthy search for him.

Josh Cohen, a spokesman for Jones, said City Council held the bill in committee at 1 p.m. on Monday, but that a vote is not expected to happen before Council recesses for the summer. Cohen said Jones is hopeful, however, that the bill will be voted on before the end of 2015.

Cohen said issues raised by the local hotel and restaurant association that centered mostly on costs associated with surveillance cameras need to be worked out before the bill proceeds.
