The Elmwood Park Zoo in Norristown officially showed off their newest additions – 11-month-old red pandas Clinger, Shredder and Slash – to an adoring crowd Saturday morning.

The red pandas – an endangered species resembling a raccoon that feeds on bamboo traditionally found in southwestern Asia – came to the zoo as part of the Smithsonian Conservation Biology Institute at the National Zoo in Washington, D.C.

“This is the first time Red Pandas have been exhibited at the Elmwood Park Zoo in its long history and they are also the first species exhibited from Asia in decades,” said zoo animal curator Dave Wood.

Police are searching for a man and woman who they say were caught on surveillance video stealing from a Pennsylvania car wash.

On May 26 a black Nissan Altima without a registration plate approached a pay station at the Liberty Carwash in Union Township, Lebanon County.

Surveillance video from the Liberty Carwash shows an unidentified man emerge from the backseat of the vehicle. He then drills through the lock attached to the pay station and removes all the cash inside. Police also say an unidentified woman was driving the car.

The two suspects returned to Liberty Carwash and broke into a second pay station, once again removing all the cash inside, according to police. Police also say the duo stole from the Finish Line II Carwash in Jackson Township, Lebanon County on May 29. The thefts also may be related to similar car wash thefts in Derry Township, Dauphin County, Harrisburg and Lower Pottsgrove.

The first suspect is described as a man between the ages of 18 and 48 with a tattoo along the left side of his neck that says “TROUBLE.” He was last seen wearing sunglasses, a black flat rim hat, a gray and white flannel shirt with a white t-shirt underneath, jeans, black gloves and diamond earrings.

Police have not released a detailed description of the female suspect but did release a surveillance photo of her.

If you have any information on the thefts, please call Pennsylvania State Trooper Nathan Trate at the Jonestown Station at 717-865-2194 or email him at ntrate@pa.gov.

Suspect in NJ Driveway Stabbing of Ex Found Dead

A man who police say stabbed and killed his ex-girlfriend outside her South Jersey home ended his own life.

Michael Eitel, 45, was on the run from authorities since Wednesday night when police say he stabbed Carol Bowne to death in the driveway of her West Berlin, New Jersey home.

Berlin Township Police officers found Eitel's body around 1:30 p.m. Saturday in the garage of a home on Holly Drive in West Berlin, according to investigators. Investigators say he committed suicide by hanging.

Carol Bowne, 39, and Eitel dated for some time after the woman's husband died in a motorcycle crash, but the hairstylist later took out a restraining order against the man after he became violent against her, according to authorities.

A motive for the killing is not yet known, but investigators said Eitel had an argument with another woman at a different home before he came to Bowne's house.

Bowne had recently added security cameras to her Patton Avenue home and, in April, applied for a gun permit, but had yet to receive approval.

New Jersey State Police and U.S. Marshals combed through the woods around Bowne's home by air and the ground trying to find Eitel. A fugitive task force was added to the search Thursday.

Police say the home where Eitel's body was found belongs to a different ex-girlfriend who had been out of the house for her own safety. Detectives believe Eitel went inside the house overnight and hung himself in the garage with a rope while he was kneeling. Police searched the house after the homeowner asked to return and found Eitel's body.

Two days after Bowne's death, state senators Diane Allen, Jennifer Beck and Dawn Marie Addiego began drafting legislation that would prioritize permitting for those who have a restraining order in place.

"You're still going to have to go through the process, but every step of the way, your particular application will get priority," Addiego said.

Nancy Hutchinson with Camden County Women's Center spoke cautiously about the proposed law, however, concerned it could hurt domestic violence victims.

"[They must ensure] that if a gun is used for victims of violence for self-defense that there are laws in the legal system that help them if they have to resort to that so it doesn't come back and hurt them if a gun is used for their own protection," she said.

Moises Rivera, 57, was walking in West New York shortly after midnight on June 4 when he was approached by three men who attacked him and knocked him to the ground. Investigators believe that the motivation for the attack was robbery.

Bystanders called 911 and tried to help Rivera, who was hit in the head during the attack. He was transported to Jersey City Medical Center with severe head trauma, and died later in the morning from his injuries.

West New York police stopped three people on Friday night in connection with the brutal attack.

Hit-&-Run Driver Strikes HS Football Player

A hit-and-run crash overnight left a New Jersey high school football player badly hurt.

A Hyundai Elantra struck 17-year-old Kyle Pszenny, a Pennsville Memorial High School rising senior, as he rode home from his girlfriend's house on a skateboard in the northbound lanes of Hook Road near Lee Avenue in Pennsville, Salem County around 1:50 a.m., said Pennsville Police Chief Allen Cummings.

After the wreck, the driver fled, leaving the boy in the roadway, said investigators.

A witness, who did not want to be identified, told NBC10 he believes the driver knew he or she struck someone.

"It's lit up all over there," the witness said. "As soon as they hit him they were right back on the gas and gone. I think it's terrible."

Medics rushed the teen to Christiana Hospital where he was treated in the intensive care unit with serious head injuries, said Cummings.

"Kyle went through a three to four hour surgery this morning for swelling of the brain," Cummings said. "I believe he has a broken neck, some vertebrae in his neck are broken. He has leg injuries."

His family rushed to be by his side at the hospital. Sunday afternoon, Pennsville Memorial High released an update on the teen's condition.

Car parts left on the roadway led investigators to zeroing in on an Elantra, which they expect has extensive front-end damage.

"There was a little motor there that looked like it came from a window washer inside the car," Cummings said. "When we turned the motor over there was a serial number."

Pszenny is a football player for Pennsville. Last season he caught 42 passes for the Eagles, according to NJ.com.

Drew Burdsall, a Pennsville football player, spoke to NBC10 about his teammate's toughness.

"He's just a tough kid," Burdsall said. "He's never scared to go in on the hit. That's just how he is. He's a fierce competitor."

Pszenny's mother, Crystal Parks, spoke to NBC10 Sunday night and thanked everyone who has supported her son.

"We'd like to thank Pennsville for their support for Kyle," she said. "We want to let you know that he's in critical condition. We ask you to respect the family with peace and give Kyle time to please heal. We thank everybody. And Kyle strong."

Anyone with information on this incident is asked to contact Pennsville Police.
