A woman accused of setting her newborn on fire and leaving her in the middle of a New Jersey street has pleaded not guilty to a murder charge.

Hyphernkemberly Dorvilier entered the plea Monday in Superior Court in Mount Holly. The Burlington County Times reports her public defender, Karen Thek, says she intends to amend the plea to either not guilty by reason of insanity or by diminished capacity.

Authorities say the 22-year-old Pemberton Township resident doused her newborn with accelerant and set her on fire in January. The baby had third-degree burns over 60 percent of her body. She died two hours after she was flown to a Philadelphia hospital.

Prosecutors say they haven't had the chance to discuss a possible plea agreement.

Dorvilier remains jailed on $500,000 bail.

Chester County Students in Nepal During 2nd Quake

Two Chester County natives teamed up to spread humanitarian aid following the initial Nepal earthquake that killed more than 8,000 people last month. Amid their relief efforts, another quake unexpectedly struck the nation Tuesday.

University of Delaware student Juliette Maas, 24, was traveling in India when news first broke out of the April 25 earthquake. The next day she boarded the plane to reunite with her longtime friend and UDel alumnus Allen Gula, 27, who was already in the country on a thirty day trek when the quake hit.

“We both entered Nepal at different stages,” Gula explained. “I came here on March 18 and Juliette came here about a month later.”

Despite worldwide media attention, Maas and Gula were not aware of the severity of the earthquake until they met up in the capital city of Kathmandu.

“We got our first images of the earthquake on May 1,” Gula said. “That was the first time we checked social media and realized we hadn’t done the best job communicating to our friends and family.”

Since that moment, Gula and Maas have been working around the clock to provide aid to victims of the deadly earthquakes through immediate relief in addition to long-term recovery plans.

“We didn’t realize until about a week later of what had happened,” Gula said of the first quake. “And when we did, we’ve kind of been in a whirlwind for the past ten days responding in relief work and making plans for long-term projects here in Nepal.”

Following the first quake, Juliette and Allen met up with their friend Orion Haas, who was also in the country assisting with relief efforts. The three decided to launch a crowdfunding campaign to help reach their long-term goals.

The campaign has already raised more than $9,000 in the past 6 days. The money would help bring long-term, sustainable housing to rural Nepal communities if they can reach $30,000 in 30 days.

And just before Tuesday morning, life was seemingly beginning to return back to normal. But by late afternoon, Nepal’s National Operation Center reported at least 40 deaths and more than 1,000 injuries due to 7.3 magnitude tremor.

Both Juliette and Allen are now making plans to extend their stay in the country until they achieve their relief efforts.

"We've committed to staying here for the next month," Maas said. "But we're researching now how to get the proper visa to stay here much longer."

WATCH: Philly Officers Struck in Hit-&-Run

Four Philadelphia police officers were hurt Tuesday afternoon in an altercation that involved a hit-and-run driver who was ultimately shot by an officer, police confirmed.

The pursuit involved at least three locations and began shortly after 2 p.m. Police received a radio call at 2:17 p.m. reporting a car accident on Wagner and Olney avenues.

When the officer arrived at the location he saw a burgundy Chrysler that had crashed into a wall. The officer then called for assistance to help him get the driver, identified as 46-year-old Rudolph Keitt, out of the vehicle. Police say Keitt appeared to be incoherent. They also believe he struck several cars and nearly hit several pedestrians before striking the wall.

More officers arrived at the scene and took Keitt out of the Chrysler. Suddenly Keitt began fighting the officers, leading to a struggle, according to investigators. Keitt then allegedly went back into the car and took off. Video obtained by NBC10 shows the speeding car strike the officers. Officials say three officers in all were hit at that location.

Police say Keitt continued driving and soon arrived at Stenton and Ogontz avenues where he allegedly struck a fourth officer that had arrived at the scene. Police say two other officers then opened fire, striking Keitt at least once in the chest.

Officials say Keitt then continued driving until police caught up to him about two miles away at 1900 Colonial Street. He was arrested and taken to Einstein Hospital where he is currently in critical condition.

Records show Keitt has an extensive criminal background including charges of aggravated assault, carrying firearms without a license, simple assault, reckless endangerment, resisting arrest and other offenses.

Church elder Reginald Macon was across the street with women and children inside Mount Airy Church of God in Christ Ministries. He heard the gunshots.

"My chair is at the window. When I looked outside, there were two young lades running up the steps. I guess they heard it too," Macon said, adding he saw police come in and block off the street right near Crown Fried Chicken.

The church went into lockdown mode. A childcare center on Ogontz Avenue with 44 children inside was also placed on lockdown.

Police initially told NBC10 that six officers were struck by the suspect but later said there were four in all. The injured officers were taken to Einstein and later released.  All of the officers are from the 35th District.
