Suspect ID'd In Fishtown Abduction & Sex Assault

Philadelphia detectives have identified the man they say abducted and sexually assaulted a woman in Fishtown last week. He also allegedly tried to assault another woman the same morning.

Manuel Cintron, 24, is wanted for the incident that took place on May 1. Investigators said a 22-year-old woman was walking home from work along the 2000 block of E. York Street around 5:30 a.m. when Cintron approached her.

Cintron pulled out a semi-automatic handgun and forced the victim into a 90s Dodge or Chrysler minivan, drove her to a nearby area and sexually assaulted her inside the vehicle, according to detectives. The woman was let go at Almond and Boston Streets and the suspect fled the area.

Less than an hour before, at 4:20 a.m., police said Cintron tried to assault a woman along the 100 block of Ruscomb Street. Detectives said the man pulled a handgun and tried to force her into a parked vehicle, but she was able to fight him off and run away.

Special Victims Unit detectives released a detailed sketch of the suspect Tuesday and surveillance video of the minivan driving through the neighborhood.

Police plan to charge Cintron with Abduction, Sexual Assault and Violation of the Uniform Firearms Act.

Anyone with information on Cintron's whereabouts is asked to call 215.686.TIPS or 911.

Editor's Note: Philadelphia Police mistakenly identified Cintron as a suspect in another sexual assault that took place on April 18. This story has since been updated.

Duck Boat Hits, Kills Woman Crossing Philly Street

A Ride the Ducks boat full of passengers hit and killed a woman as she crossed the street with her husband in Philadelphia's Chinatown Friday afternoon.

The accident occurred at 11th and Arch around 5:20 p.m. and passengers -- including young children -- were forced to remain in the vehicle for nearly an hour after police covered the 68-year-old woman's body with a bright yellow tarp. She died of massive head injuries.

The duck boat had a green light, according to police. Accident investigators plan to get a clearer picture of what happened from surveillance video and witnesses.

Ride the Ducks is the same company which operated a boat that stalled in the Delaware River and was run down by a barge in 2010, sending two Hungarian students to their deaths.

A jury ordered the organization to pay $15 million dollars in 2012 to the families of those victims.

Dramatic video released just days before the trial showed the duck boat being run over by the barge. The video revealed the deckhand on the Duck boat was texting shortly before the accident. Government investigators also determined the pilot of the tug which was pulling the barge through the river was also on his phone and distracted by a family member's illness.

Attorney Bob Mongeluzzi, who represented victims and their families in the fatal Delaware River crash, said Friday the duck boat's design makes it challenging for drivers on land to have the visibility they need.

"The design of the duck boat itself makes it extremely difficult to operate on land because it is cumbersome and the visibility for the operator is hampered because he has a large bow of the boat extended in front of him."

Great White Shark Mary Lee Spotted Along Jersey Shore

Researchers spotted the famous Great White shark Mary Lee as she made her way to the Jersey Shore, just ten miles off the Wildwood coast and Cape May Thursday morning.

Nonprofit group OCEARCH spotted the 3,456-pound and 16-foot-long shark around 6:12 a.m., using a tracking device they attached to Mary Lee, alerting researchers every time her fin surfaces above the water.

By Friday, she was even closer to shore, and further north off the coast of Brigantine; heading toward Long Beach Island.

Mary Lee was last seen in the area almost three years ago when she emitted a signal near Cape Cod, Massachusetts in September 2012.

And in the last month, the shark has experienced quite the adventure along the East Coast.

The Great White was tracked about 20 miles off Assateague Island along the Delmarva Peninsula earlier this week. Mary Lee also pinged near North and South Carolina and paid a visit to Ocean City, Maryland last month.

While experts don't know the exact cause of what's keeping Mary Lee in the area, they believe it may be related to food.

Researchers continue to track her path as she swims along the East Coast shoreline. You can track Mary Lee's movements on OCEARCH's website.

DOJ Asking Why Full Probe Wasn't Launched in Dover Incident

The Department of Justice is looking into why federal prosecutors only opened a preliminary investigation into the assault of a Delaware man at the hands of a police officer.

The U.S. Attorney's Office in Wilmington, Delaware told NBC10 Friday that officials did review dashcam video showing Dover Police Cpl. Tom Webster kicking Lateef Dickerson in the head during an August 2013 arrest as part of an initial review of the case.

But the office maintained Dickerson's civil rights were not infringed upon and closed its investigation. Officials can't or won't say why a formal probe was not launched.

The video was released by the Dover Police Department on Thursday — less than a week after Webster was indicted on a 2nd Degree Assault charge.

A grand jury indicted Webster more than a year and a half after the incident. It was the second grand jury to review the case. The first grand jury, convened last March, did not bring charges. It is not clear whether they reviewed the video.

Webster was suspended following the arrest and later disciplined by the department, but returned to the force in June 2014.

The ACLU later sued the department on the man's behalf claiming brutality.

Webster has not commented on the indictment, but his attorney, Jim Liguori, said the officer is innocent. No one was at his home Friday. He has been suspended from the force once again, this time without pay.

Dickerson faced several charges after the arrest, which took place after a large fight at a Hess gas station. Those were later dropped.

12-Year-Old Girl: iPhone Caught Fire in My Pocket

Roselly Rolon got her daughter, Alexis, an Apple iPhone 5C for peace of mind in case of an emergency. But the Northeast Philadelphia mother never expected the smartphone to be the source of trouble.

On Friday morning, however, the family claims just that happened. As the 12-year-old walked to school, she said the popular smartphone caught fire in the pocket of her pants.

"All I saw was smoke coming out and then it was my phone. So I threw it on the ground — my butt was, like, burning," the girl recalled.

Alexis heard a cracking sound coming from the phone before it caught fire, but she didn't realize anything was wrong until the smoke began to rise, she said.

"I took it out ... and I threw it on the ground and started stomping out the fire," she said.

The white phone's case was left disfigured, the metal charred and rippled. The device burned through the back pocket of Alexis' jeans and left the girl with second-degree burns, doctors at Nazareth Hospital determined.

"We depend on these phones. And the same phone that I'm depending on is gonna burn my daughter," Roselly Rolon, the girl's mother, said angrily. "Thank God it wasn't her face."

The girl said the phone had been problem-free before Friday's fire and that she charged it normally Thursday night.

Apple told NBC10 they can't comment because the Rolons haven't contacted them directly about the incident. The family says their attorney is reaching out to the tech giant.

This isn't the first time an iPhone owner claimed their phone combusted. A middle schooler in Maine suffered 2nd degree burns in January 2014 after she said her iPhone 5C caught fire in her pocket. An Arizona man also suffered similar burns after he said an iPhone 6 went up in flames in his pocket last October.

Despite the pain inflicted by the device, Alexis isn't shying away from the smartphone. "I like the iPhone, but I don't want that one anymore. I want a different one," she said.

Hundreds of mourners, including fellow police officers, were expected at the funeral of a western Pennsylvania officer killed in a wrong-way crash.

Nobody has been charged in the crash that killed Ligonier Township Lt. Eric Eslary early Tuesday.

But police said they were screening the blood of the driver of van that smashed head-on into Eslary's patrol SUV while driving the wrong way on Route 30 about 1:45 a.m. Tuesday.

A passenger in the van has said he and the van's driver were drinking before the crash after working at the swimming pool business, which owned the van.

Eslary was married and a father of six — three from a previous relationship and three from his wife, Mary Beth's, previous relationship. She is a county 911 dispatcher.

Saturday's funeral at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Ligonier begins at 11 a.m.
