A small plane crashed into an unoccupied administration building at an Elk County airport after a pilot and his girlfriend attempted to hand prop the aircraft Sunday afternoon.

The crash occured at St. Mary's Municipal Airport shortly before 1 p.m. when the pilot attempted to manually turn on the propeller outside the plane with his girlfriend inside, said Airport Manager Alan McPherson.

Officials believe the woman did not know how to control the aircraft as it took off and struck the airport's empty administration building.

The airport was originally scheduled to be closed today, but the runway remained open for use.

The pilot and his girlfriend, who were not injured in the crash, were taken to a nearby hospital for evaluation, McPherson said.

A small fuel leak was discovered at the crash site and emergency services were called in to make repairs.

In the span of 30 minutes, authorities recovered a missing U-Haul van that was rented under a stolen identity and a Penske cargo truck that had been stolen last week. The search for the suspect continues.

Police said they found the white U-Haul cargo van, which had an Arizona tag, on the 2200 block of West Lehigh Avenue around 1:50 a.m. Saturday. Thirty minutes earlier and about two miles away, the 16-foot Hi-Cube Penske truck, with an Indiana plate, was recovered on the 100 block of Rising Sun Avenue, near 11th and West Tioga streets, authorities said.

The man who police say is connected to the crime is still on the loose.

Authorities released images of the suspect, but did not disclose what his role.

The U-Haul cargo van was missing since April 26 -- the day three men forced a homeless man to open a bank account and then rent the Ford, according to police.

The Penske truck was reported stolen on April 28, taken from a rental location at 1216 Washington Ave., investigators said.

"The most important job of the police department at this time is to give info to the public and enlist their aid," he said. "This way now I have 1.5 million eyes looking for these vehicles."

Anyone with information on the man's whereabouts or his identity is urged to contact Homeland Security at 215-823-9525, Philadelphia Police at 215.686.TIPS or 911.

Two officers pulled a baby boy from the Lehigh River Sunday after the child's mother threw him from an Allentown bridge 52-feet above the banks and then jumped into the shallow water, police said.

Witnesses told police the 19-year-old mother was pushing the baby across the Hamilton Street Bridge in a stroller around 1:45 p.m. when she stopped mid-span, took the child from the carriage and tossed him into the water, investigators said.

She then climbed over the rail and jumped in after him, officials said.

Police arrived moments later. They found the mom -- conscious --on the river bank, according to reports.

Two officers -- identified Joseph Iannetta and John Leonard -- spotted the baby about 700 yards downstream, pulled him from the river and performed CPR.

Their efforts revived the boy, who was rushed to Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest. The mom was also rushed to the same hospital. Both are in serious condition but expected to survive.

Reinik said police are investigating the case as an apparent attempted murder-suicide, but the investigation continues and no charges have been filed.

7 Years Later, Remembering Slain Philly Police Sergeant

Family and Philly police officers remembered Sgt. Stephen Liczbinski Sunday -- the 7th anniversary of the shooting death of the 12-year police veteran.

Liczbinski, 39, was fatally shot on May 3, 2008 when he tried to apprehend three bank robbery suspects and one member of the trio, Howard Cain, fired an AK-47 at the officer, killing him. Cain was later killed by police in the manhunt that followed Liczbinski's death.

Seven years later, several Philadelphia Police officers shared Tweets remembering their slain brother in blue.

Liczbinski's widow, Michelle, also sent several Tweets remembering her husband on the mournful day.

The remaining two suspects, Eric Floyd and Levon Warner, were sentenced to life in prison in 2010 after being convicted of first-degree murder. Cain was the gunman, while Warner drove the getaway car and Floyd handled the weapon prior to the shooting. The bank robbery took place inside a grocery story in the city's Port Richmond neighborhood.

Since Liczbinski's May 2008 death, seven other Philadelphia Police officers have given the ultimate sacrifice. Most recently, the Philadelphia Police Department lost Robert Wilson III, who was posthumously named a sergeant. The department's medal of valor was renamed in Wilson's honor.
