A teen from Montgomery County has been crowned the king of speed when it comes to solving a Rubik’s Cube.

Collin Burns set a world record at a World Cube Association competition held Saturday at a Bucks County high school.

Burns solved the challenging 3X3X3 puzzle in just 5.253 seconds at Central Bucks West High School in Doylestown. He beat the former world record of 5.55 seconds set by 18-year-old Mats Valk from Netherlands in 2013.

In a video posted on Burn's YouTube account, spectators surround the teen and burst into applause as he speedily solves the puzzle. (Watch the full video below.)

The competition, which helped raise awareness for the organization A Woman’s Place, drew a crowd of approximately 120 local students from the northeast, according to CB West teacher and event organizer Leanne Schrier.

In addition to participating in the event, Burns helped organize the competition and fundraiser, Schrier said.

The home-schooled teen, who broke the world record by 0.30 seconds, was named U.S. national champion last summer.

Burns is the first American to hold the world record since 2006, according to the WCA.

Woman Out-Flexes Man on Philly Soul Cam

One woman brought the big guns to a recent Philadelphia indoor professional football game, but there was no reason to call the police.

"It started with a fun in-arena event and then started to blow up," said Soul Chief Operating Officer, John Adams.

The Philadelphia Soul features a "Flex Cam" during a break in the action, calling out spectators to flex for the camera shown on the jumbo tron. One woman attending the April 12 game gave fans a big surprise when the "Flex Cam" panned toward her.

The video, posted to the Soul's YouTube channel, begins like most others, showing fans flexing for the camera. The camera focuses on a man with two women sitting behind him who appear to be discussing something as he shows off his muscles.

A little later, the camera comes back to the man who is promptly shown up by one of those women.

"You've been stoned, my brother!" the announcer said.

Turns out, the flex cam was staged and the man and woman featured in the video are an engaged couple, according to Adams. He said, "We take a lot of pride in our in-arena experience and that's all this was meant to be." But when the video was posted to the Soul's Facebook page, it blew up.

The video was shared more than 6-thousand times and had about 600,000 views from the Facebook page as of Monday afternoon. The Soul's YouTube version of the video had been viewed nearly 4.5 million times.

Adams also noted that the Soul were undefeated as of Monday.

Black & White Cookies Sold at Starbucks Recalled

The company that makes the black and white mini cookies sold in Starbucks stores is recalling the treat because they contain milk, an ingredient not declared on the packaging that can cause potentially serious or even life-threatening reactions for people allergic to it.

Sweet Sam's Baking Company of the Bronx issued the recall Friday for the black and white cookies sold in Starbucks stores in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Washington, D.C., Maryland, Virginia, Florida, Delaware, Georgia, Ohio, South Carolina and West Virginia.

The recall, which was ordered after two customers with milk allergies reported reactions after eating the cookies, applies to any of the treats sold in those stores on or before April 23, the company said.

The product comes in a 2 oz. clear film package, each containing two cookies. Printed upon the front of the package are the words “Black & White Mini Cookies," “A New York City Favorite” and “SKU 408785." The back panel says "Manufactured for Starbucks Coffee Company."

According to the FDA, a product packaging review determined that the private-label packaging design omitted the presence of milk from the ingredient panel. Subsequent investigation indicates the problem was caused by an oversight in the design process of the private label, the agency said. The same cookies sold under Sweet Sam's own trademark do not have the packaging issue, the FDA said, and the label will be changed before the cookies are reintroduced to the market.

Consumers allergic to milk who have purchased the black and white cookies sold at Starbucks made by Sweet Sam's are urged to discard the product or return it to any Starbucks store for a full refund.

City Council Candidate Ori Feibush's Development Windows Smashed

Vandals took out several windows early Tuesday morning at a Point Breeze residential property that is being developed by the controversial real estate developer and Philadelphia City Council candidate Ori Feibush, said police.

Police responded to the corner of 20th and Reed streets, where OCF Realty has several single-family homes under construction, and discovered shattered windows and red markings over the real estate development firm's sign.

The incident comes less than two weeks after a  a man reportedly walked into Feibush's Center City office and threatened a member of the candidate's campaign staff with a gun.

The developer also reported graffiti on a campaign office's windows and door on the 1500 block of Reed Street earlier this month.

Feibush, who has focused on redeveloping vacant lots and buildings in the city's Point Breeze neighborhood for several years, has a contentious history with the community.

In August 2013, surveillance video captured someone sending bricks through the windows of the Feibush-owned OCF Coffee Shop, located at 20th and Federal streets. A dead dog was left on the the doorstep of Feibush's home years before he made moves for political office.

The developer will face Johnson in the May 19 Democratic primary -- a race that heated up earlier this year when the challenger purchased and starting using domain names, like KenyattaJohnson.net and KenyattaJohnson.org, to steer voters to websites on his own campaign.

Feibush owned up to the digital tactic, while Johnson's offices told voters voters to go to  CitizensForKenyattaJohnson.com for the incumbent's campaign updates.

Calls to Feibush's offices were not immediately returned.

Suspect in Custody in West Philly Standoff

Neighbors heard screams Tuesday morning and called police to their West Philly street, where a man told officers he had an AK-47 and he would shoot anyone who approached his home, police said.

After an approximately 2-hour standoff involving SWAT team members on the 4700 block of Melon Street, just south of Fairmount Avenue, officers were able to place the suspect under arrest around 8:15 a.m.

Family members identified the alleged gunman as 38-year-old Robert Thompson.

"He's going through a lot of problems right now," said Kenneth Thompson, the man's brother.

Robert allegedly held his mother, who is in her 50s and has some undisclosed medical issues, and his grandmother, who is in her 80s and legally blind, inside the home. However, it is unclear if the man actually had a gun, or just claimed to have a weapon.

"He would never hurt my mom and grandma," added Kenneth, who was not at home when the standoff transpired.  "He is a good person."

Kenneth said both women are okay.

A neighbor told NBC10 Robert cared for his disabled mom and blind grandmom and the burden may have become too much for the 38-year-old man.

"What you saw out here was a cry for help," said Don McCray, who lives nearby. "He's a generally nice guy. Just going through a lot of different things."

Authorities set up a staging area at the Middle Years Alternative School, located at 4725 Fairmount Ave., while they secured the area. At first, officials permitted children to enter the school and said they had to remain inside, but just before 8 a.m. police announced the school would evacuate. Once the standoff was resolved, school resumed normal operations.

Police initially said the man was holding his girlfriend hostage, but later said only his mom and grandmom were inside the home with him.

Jeweler's Row Abduction Suspect Appears in Court

A man who was arrested for his alleged role in the abduction, torturing and dumping of a woman in a Philadelphia cemetery appeared in court Tuesday for a preliminary hearing.

Khayree Gay, 31, of Philadelphia was in court for less than five minutes during the hearing. Gay does not have an attorney but plans on getting one. He is charged with robbery and kidnapping.

Gay was arrested April 10 in a South Caroline motel for his role in the kidnapping and beating of a 53-year-old woman, police said.

Gay, along with two other abductors, grabbed the woman from a parking garage at 8th and Chestnut streets on April 4, forced her into a cargo van, zip-tied her wrists, shackled her ankles and covered her head with a hood, according to police.

Surveillance video released by an area store showed the woman, who had just left her job at National Watch & Diamond on Jeweler's Row, walking to the garage.

Once the suspects grabbed her and put her in the van, they demanded keys to the jewelry store and codes to the safe, investigators said. Unable to provide either, the victim told police she was then tortured and shocked with a Taser before the men dumped her — still bound — at Montlawn Cemetery at Hook Road near Lindbergh Boulevard in Delaware County.

Her ordeal was not over yet, however.

The captors returned to the cemetery, forced her back into the van and then drove her around using her ATM card to make four withdrawals before dumping her back at the cemetery, where she was able to eventually remove the hood, make her way to Hook Road and flag down a driver who called 911.

She was treated at Penn Presbyterian Hospital for bruises, contusions and a concussion, according to police. She is currently recovering at home.

According to an affidavit, Gay surveyed National Watch and even spoke to the victim, taking her business card, the day before the abduction. Police also believe Gay disposed of the burgundy van shortly after the abduction.

Police are still searching for at least two more suspects connected to the robbery and abduction. Both the Mayor's Office and ATF are offering $10,000 rewards bringing the total to $20,000. If you have any information on the case, please call Philadelphia Police or 1-800-ATF-GUNS.

Two teenagers wandered around a Philadelphia corner store before one of them put the clerk in a choke hold during a robbery.

Two males between 16 to 18 years old wearing backpacks could be seen entering La Canasta Market at N 12th and Mt Vernon Streets in the city’s West Poplar neighborhood around 1:50 p.m. Monday, said Philadelphia Police.

Surveillance video released by Philadelphia Police shows the teens wandering the store for 15 minutes before they go behind the counter and attack the employee.

The thinner suspect, wearing a light gray zip-up hoodie, light blue button-down shirt and white sneakers with orange laces, can be seen forcing the worker into a choke hold as the worker tried to open the register.

The thinner guy and his accomplice, a heavy-set suspect wearing a dark gray zip-up hoodie with “PUMA” written on it in yellow and light blue sneakers, can then be seen grabbing their bags and running out of the store.

The thieves took cash and several packs of cigarettes, said police.

Investigators asked anyone with information or who recognizes the suspects to call 911. You can also contact Central Detective Division Det. Kovach at 215-686-3093/94.

Police ID Driver From Tanker Crash That Leaves Montco Road Closed

Power came back to residents a day after a deadly fiery crash along a Montgomery County road as the roadway remained closed as crews worked to make the road safe.

A tractor-trailer carrying a detergent and a tanker truck carrying raw sewage burst into flames after colliding head-on along S Park Avenue near Crawford Road in Audubon, Pennsylvania shortly before 6 a.m. Monday, said county dispatchers.

"It was observed that the two tractor-trailers had collided in a head-on matter, causing one of the trailers to split open and discharging containers containing a white powder onto the roadway," said Lower Providence Township Police Chief Francis Carroll.

On Tuesday, Carroll identified the driver of the tanker truck as 40-year-old Jermon Jeffers, of Stowe, Pennsylvania. The impact badly damaged the tanker truck cab, causing Jeffers to become trapped. Jeffers died from blunt force trauma, ruled the Montgomery County Coroner's Office.

The semi-truck driver escaped uninjured.

Electrical service was cut off to homes on the 700 block and 800 block of S Park Avenue due to a concern that static electricity emanating from high voltage lines would interact with the powder. Crews removed both trucks shortly after midnight and restored power to residents around 2:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Investigators said that the Aqua Pennsylvania tanker carried sewage while the tractor-trailer carried barrels of AquaBeads 519, a white powder and smoothing agent used in detergents. While the substance is not hazardous, it may cause breathing difficulties if inhaled.

It also left a waxy mess along Park Avenue.

Crews from PennDOT and Reading, Pennsylvania-based Elk Environmental then used power washing, scrubbing and vacuums to clear the roadway.

"This has been a very, very challenging issue to address, with respect to the safe removal of this product from the roadway," said Carroll.

"Our ultimate objective" is to get the roadway to a safe place," said Carroll.

"PennDOT is going to undertake the milling of approximately 1,000 feet of the roadway in a section between Jode Road and Eagleville Road on Park Avenue," he said.

The hope is to reopen the road by 6 a.m. Wednesday.

The investigation continued and no charges were filed Tuesday. Accident reconstructionists needed the roadway cleared to try and figure out what led to the wreck.

A spokesperson for Aqua released a statement on Jeffers' death.

Aqua employees are deeply saddened by this tragic loss and send their prayers and thoughts to the employee’s family and friends.
