The man whom a Kildare's bouncer saw walking on Main Street in Manayunk, nearly an hour after missing student Shane Montgomery left the bar on the night he vanished, was not Montgomery, police say.

Law officials made the determination that the man was not the missing 21-year-old West Chester student after reviewing surveillance video from the area of the supposed sighting. police told NBC10.

Earlier Thursday, exactly a week after Shane vanished, Kildare's Irish Pub said in a statement on its Facebook page confirming reports that one of its bouncers had seen Montgomery Thanksgiving morning nearly an hour after he left their establishment.

"We learned this information in our internal investigations, we shared this information immediately with authorities with the hope that it would help find Shane," read the statement on Kildare's Facebook page.

Shane Montgomery, who went missing after a night out with friends, was last seen as he left Kildare's just before 2 a.m. -- minutes after he bumped into the DJ booth.

News of the debunked sighting was released to NBC10 as the search moved into its second week and the same day that his parents, Kevin and Karen Montgomery, appeared on "Today," pleading for information on their son's whereabouts.

"...All we need is a little point, a little direction," said Shane's father. "Somewhere to get us focused."

"People have to come forward," said Karen Montgomery.

The reward for information leading to Shane Montgomery was increased to $40,000 Thursday, thanks to Bimbo Bakeries USA, Kevin's employer, who added an additional $9,000 to the steadily growing pot.

Police have expanded their search and are now asking for surveillance video from the Schuylkill River to Henry Avenue and Green Lane to Lincoln Drive.

Anyone with information on the 21-year-old senior, who weighs approximately 140 pounds and stands 5-foot-11-inches tall is urged to contact Philadelphia Police or the FBI at 215-418-4000.

Just before 5 a.m. on Wednesday Dec. 3, Matt and Frances Brodsky celebrated the birth of their third child, a baby girl, Vera Grace, at The Birth Center in Bryn Mawr, but employees at 36-year-old institution were just as excited because Vera is the 10,000th child to be delivered at the center.

A feeling of feverish suspense was palpable in the time leading up the birth. While it was unclear who would deliver the 10,000th baby, the center’s clients were nominating one another in a fun guessing contest, according to Executive Director Kathryn Boockvar.

"It really shows the trust and comfort that this community has in the birth center … It’s really a testament to the relationship with our patients,"Boockvar said.

Founded in 1978, The Birth Center is not your average maternity ward. One of America's oldest operating birth centers, it works from a midwifery model offering gynecologic and maternity care as well as parenting classes.

But it's The Birth Center's break from the normal idea of child preparation that makes it a favorite among community members -- the Brodskys being no exception.

"We believe that it is important that TBC exists. It is a place that gives women a choice in their healthcare, and that’s why we come here: for the choice, security, and ability to make informed decisions on what is best for our family," said the couple.

To honor the occasion, a massive celebration is being held on Dec. 14 for everyone who has received care from the center. as well as the community and friends. It will take place at Open Connections in Newtown Square, an event space owned by the 99th baby born at The Birth Center.

"This 10,000th [baby] is exciting in and of itself, but we’re really celebrating all 10,000 babies that have been born over the last 36 years with the birth center." said Boockvar.

This year alone, the center will have delivered over 500 newborns.

"I can’t wait for the next 10,000!" Boockvar.said.

At least one person was hurt in a fire that tore through a West Philadelphia rowhome early Friday morning.

Firefighters responded to reports of heavy smoke in a home on the unit block of South Conestoga Street -- near 55th and Market streets -- around 3:30 a.m. and found the property engulfed in flames, according to officials.

It took crews less than an hour to bring the blaze under control, said authorities, who are unsure where the fire started in the home.

The owner of the property passed away sometime last year, leading firefighters to suspect squatters were living in the home and started a fire to keep warm, according to officials.

A neighbor was rushed to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania with minor injuries.

An investigation is underway.

NJ Bans 19 Motor Oils

New Jersey banned 19 brands of motor oil after laboratory tests revealed that the products' viscosity failed to match what was promised on their labels.

The banned oil includes such brands as Auto Club Motor Oil, Black Knight Motor Oil, MaxiGuard MG and Orbit Motor Oil. A list of the banned brands is posted on the State Office of Weights and Measures website.

Viscosity is a measure of a liquid’s tendency to flow. High viscosity fluids are considered "thick" and have slower flow rates, while low viscosity fluids are considered "thin" and have faster flow rates.

The use of a motor oil with viscosity levels that are either too high or too low for a vehicle’s engine specifications may result in the risk of engine failure, excess engine wear, and/or decreased fuel efficiency.

A petroleum industry tip prompted the state to test the suspect motor oils.

Retailers that continue to sell them will be subject to a civil penalty of at least $100 per package or container of the banned product – a penalty far in excess of the approximately $3 to $4 per quart bottle for which many of these products have been sold.

"Many of these allegedly mislabeled motor oils are sold at cheap prices, thereby luring those consumers who can least afford the extra maintenance costs or early engine failure that may result from using the wrong type of motor oil," said Acting Attorney General John J. Hoffman.

The owners of Atlantic City's Trump Taj Mahal casino have pushed back its scheduled closing date until Dec. 20.

Trump Entertainment Resorts tells The Associated Press it decided to move the closing date back eight days while talks remain ongoing to try to save the casino and its 3,000 jobs.

It says it is engaged in a ``last-ditch'' effort to remain open.

The company had planned to close the Taj on Dec. 12.

The bankrupt Trump Entertainment and would-be purchaser Carl Icahn have been negotiating with the city's main casino union and state officials on ways to keep the casino open.

It would be the fifth of Atlantic City's 12 casinos to go out of business this year, leaving a total of 11,000 workers without jobs.
