A nine-month, multi-agency investigation spanning New Jersey and New York led to the arrests of four men accused in a burglary ring targeting affluent neighborhoods across Bergen, Morris and Somerset counties in New Jersey, authorities say.

The four suspects are accused of breaking into more than 30 homes beginning in February, often targeting homes in wealthy areas, the prosecutor's office said. The suspects got away with jewelry, cash and other valuables.

Working with New York City police, New Jersey detectives learned that the alleged burglars would often take the stolen property to a man in Astoria, Queens, who paid for the valuables. A search warrant executed at the man's home turned up stolen goods matched to burglaries in New Jersey.

Police were also able to connect the three accused burglars to several New Jersey break-ins after investigators observed them throwing out items in a Dumpster and later found them to be valuables stolen from the New Jersey homes.

Jamelle Singletary, Lawal Erskine and Jamaal Sermon, all of Teaneck, New Jersey, and David Tadjiev of Astoria, Queens, were arrested on conspiracy to commit residential burglary and theft charges. They are in custody in Westchester on fugitive from justice warrants and awaiting extradition to New Jersey.

It wasn't immediately clear if they had attorneys.

Husband Made Good on 'Corvette Into River' Threat: Wife

An arrest warrant has been issued for a man accused of pushing his wife's red corvette into the Delaware River Monday.

John Kramer, 50, is charged with contempt, violation of protection from abuse order, harassment and recklessly endangering another person. According to police, the reckless endangerment charge is for endangering the divers who searched for his car.

Kramer's wife, a Northeast Philadelphia resident, told NBC10 he husband sent threatening texts to her and their teenage daughter moments before pushing their car into the river.

"He had threatened that he would put the car in the river," the estranged wife said.

"He then texted my daughter and said, ‘you have two minutes,’ and then he texted back and said, ‘It’s done LOL.’”

The woman asked not to be identified, saying she has a protection from abuse (PFA) order against her husband.

"I have a PFA and he was disgruntled about that,” she said.

The woman said she called 911 Monday night after seeing breaking news reports about a 1990 red Corvette in the water near Magee Lane and New State Road — just below Interstate 95 — in Northeast Philly.

"I called 911 and asked them if that was my car and they confirmed that it was but we didn’t know at the time if he was in the car or not,” she said.

Witnesses told police Kramer fled the scene shortly after the car fell into the water.

The woman said she recently tried to work out a car exchange with her husband, but it didn't go well.

“He had wanted to switch the corvette for the van and indicated that he wanted to come get it,” she said. "I told him he had to leave the ‘vette in order to get the van.”

“He wasn’t allowed to come here so he would have to wait for somebody to meet with him.”

The woman claims Kramer violated the PFA and repeatedly tried to get in touch with her throughout the day Monday.

"Because I have the PFA ... I ignored him all day and he was texting me and also calling my work phone and I just saved the messages and showed them to the detectives,” she said.

The couple is going through a divorce. Their issues escalated after her adult son died in June, the wife told NBC10's Rosemary Connors. The woman said she is worried for her husband's safety but also for her own safety and the safety of their two daughters who are 15 and 17.

While charges for Kramer have been approved, police are still searching for him.

Thief Hits 3 Churches, Steals Funds for Mom With Cancer

Police in a New Jersey township are searching for a thief who targeted three churches in eight days, including one that had been raising money for a mother battling breast cancer.

Pastor Tom Rice of the Cranford Alliance Church in Cranford said the $360 that members had been raising to support Susana Villarino, a mother of twin girls with stage IV breast cancer.

"It's metastasized to her skin, basically, at this point," he said. "That money was the money we had received from sales of those tickets for the fundraiser."

Cranford Alliance was the first church hit last Monday. Nobody was in the office, and the thief broke in and found the donation money, Rice said.

Then on Saturday around noon, he struck again twice, first at the Cranford Methodist where he found $50, according to police. About a half-hour later, he broke into the priests' residence attached to St. Michael's Church, but this time was caught by a parish priest who scared him off.

"You could say it's the lowest of the low crimes we have, which leads me to believe we have an individual with some problems," said Cranford Police Chief James Wozniak.

Rice said, "I would say, 'Hey, this is who you stole from,' but I would also extend mercy, grace and forgiveness. Whoever this person is, we've got a whole church praying for them."
